Last week of Spring Break! Really enjoying our time off and not having to wake up so early to get Tyler to school on time!
We're finally tenting our home for termites this weekend. It's been LONG overdue. A few years actually overdue. In the mist of getting the house ready for the fumigation (mostly food items), I've been doing a lot of Spring cleaning. It feels GOOD. Lots of decluttering and getting rid of hoarded items. Not the best timing though since we are going out of town this weekend for the fumigation and I'm preoccupied with decluttering the house! Anyway, decided I needed some new shelves for Tyler's room and our closet. Monday I took the kids to Ikea. They had fun playing in the playground while I browsed the store. Then found out that there was a special that week - spend $99 and pretty much get an unlimited amount of food at their cafeteria for one order. What? I was already getting a shelf. Grabbed the kids and pretty much ordered a TON of food at the cafeteria, which was all later reimbursed when I checked out. It was like a buffet!
Hit up Pump it Up again with friends (Groupon deal for a 5 trip card!)
Katelyn started Kumon officially this week. Starting in 3A161, addition. Thank goodness no counting circles and writing numbers.
Our last Hip Hop trial class. We tried 3 different free courses!
Drove the kids to see my parents this week to drop off Mojo. He can't be at home for the fumigation obviously. Quite a drive. The kids love to watch their turtle Tennessee. We'll be babysitting him in a few weeks so my parents showed us how to feed him. Also picked fresh kumquats and loquats and pomellos from their yard!
Thursday! Our fumigation company, Terminix, had a series of miscommunications with scheduling and we were pretty skeptical about them getting their on time this morning. But they came, even earlier! Perfect since we were waiting for them to finish so we could hit the road.
We headed down to San Diego and stopped at the Outlets near Carlsbad. There we met up with Bonnie's family.
Check in at the Welk Resort in Escondido! (Outside of San Diego). It was an older resort but we got an amazing deal. 2 nights in a 2 bedroom hotel for $560. We've never had so much room EVER when traveling. The kids LOVED it!! I didn't get a picture of the master bedroom but it was nice and updated!
Lots of activities here for us to do. Kids loved foosball. Must find a place to put our foosball table now.
Free arts and crafts in the recreational room.
Bonnie's family had a 2 bedroom also. I had to stomp my foot a bit (figuratively speaking) to get their unit closer to ours. But it was totally worth it since we were just across a street from each other and the kids got to spend a lot of time together.
Smore's night!
Even I got into the competitive spirit of foosball. Against 6 year olds.
Day 2!
The dads took the boys golfing on the course there. Super cheap and empty.
We had our own golf cart!
Over capacity.
Then hit the pool in the afternoon. Our crew drove down and met us in the afternoon and since we were staying at the hotel we were able to get them guest passes to join us. Had to do some tomfoolery to get KK a wristband to go on the big slide (she was just barely under the height limit).
Video of KK on the water slide:
Tired!
Fun for the moms. I'm horrible at ping pong apparently.
Morning of Day 3. Took some photos and took the kids fishing at the resort's fishing pond. Saw tons of fish in the pond but none of them took a bite at all. What a waste of time and money!
But seeing that it was the Saturday before Easter, we bumped into a Easter Bunny!
Drove home and everyone napped. What a long day we had! Everyone except me that is. I had a million bags of food to unpack from the fumigation. Exhausted.
Happy Easter! Sunday we recovered and did almost nothing. Bliss.
Had dinner plans with the girls and Bonnie was sweet enough to do an impromptu Easter Egg hunt for the kids on our lawn. I was feeling guilty since we hadn't gone around to taking the kids to any this year with planning for the fumigation and all. So sweet, it's the little things that show how much people care. Tyler was totally into it!
Dinner at Fig & Olive that I organized for Bonnie's birthday. Always good times with these gals.
