Monday was a day off for Tyler's school for parent teacher conferences. Will and I went to meet Miss Hassine at 9am after we dropped Tyler off at his friend Kobi's house. The conference went well, Tyler's behavior has improved already in just the first month which is wonderful to hear. He also scored the highest possible score on his reading assessment. (He better have!). After we got back from the conference, Will headed to work and I hung out at Linda's for a bit while the boys played.
For lunch we met up with Susy and Nevan/Noemi at the Habit.
We went our separate ways and then later in the afternoon Bonnie/Jordan and Susy/Nevan/Noemi came over after I picked up Katelyn from school. The kids had a fun time playing while the moms enjoyed some two buck chuck.
I've been thinking of putting Katelyn in Kumon. She really wants to but we're only holding back since it's so darn $$. She loves to pull out a sheet herself from her files and write numbers and letters though.
Tuesday was soccer practice! Boy, was it hot. I stayed home with Katelyn in the air conditioning. Even at 6pm it was brutal.
We were playing Princess Candyland here at home.
Wednesday morning. Disneyland again, the second week in a row. See how determined I am? As usual I was a little nervous about getting Katelyn in. The park had opened at 8am the previous week so I assumed the same this time. We got there at 730am only to find they didn't open until 9am. Doh! Here we are excited on the tram.
We had lots of time to hang out outside the gates before they let us in. I took the time to scope out a good turnstile to go through. No problems though, the guy I got was young and asked if she had a ticket and I said not yet. Done!
Once we got into the park, we hung around Main Street since the rest of the park was still closed off. Super empty of course and Katelyn made her way through meeting Minnie and Mickey (she said no thanks to Goofy).
First stop today was Star Tours! She loves this ride and I love that we walked right onto it!
She was even more excited when we went on the Astro Blasters ride. It was her first time and she knew it, we had less than a 5 minute wait!
Autopia was a quick wait too.
Quick stop to meet Merida.
By now we were already cooking and it was barely 10am. Headed to Small World to cool off.
Look who we bumped into in Fantasy Land.
Casey Jr's Circus Train was next Katelyn threw a little fit because she wanted to sit in the already full caboose. Had to wait until the next train to appease her. Sheesh.
Next to Sleeping Beauty's castle Katelyn spotted this romantic little sculpture she really liked.
Mommy/Katelyn castle picture!
And then we were off to CA Adventure. Thank goodness I was able to convince her NOT to do the princesses again, since we had just met them all last week. First stop was her new favorite ride - the swings!
And then our always-last-stop of Ariel's Adventures. Nice and air conditioning and ready for us to cool down and head home. What a day!
Oh wait, on the way out, what's this? That's right, Katelyn is tall enough for Soarin' over CA! Another favorite of mine and SO relaxing. She was so excited because she knew it was her first time on this ride.
Did everything I could to make sure she didn't fall asleep on the ride home. Success! Got there and she was super excited to see Noemi (of course).
Both kids took nice naps that afternoon. In the evening we went over to Will's parents' place for dinner.
Thursday: Katelyn's last day of no preschool before she starts full time in September (gulp). We ran errands and lost track of time. Result for lunch? Katelyn's first ever happy meal. Not my finest hour. She LOVED the little box though.
Look how hot they are. Ack! This whole week has been minimun day at Woodbury due to Parent/Teacher conferences so I've been able to nap Katelyn after I pick up Tyler.
Ballerinas! Oh boy was it hot, I felt bad when I had to put her tights on.
Last Thursday of each month: dinner with Katelyn's ICDC crew. We changed up the location this time to meet at CPK at the Market place. Why? One word: Sangrias. Plus it's indoors and it was just SO darn hot. The girls had a good time.
As did the mommies!
On Friday Katelyn's school closed for the long weekend. We headed over to my friend Connie's place for a playdate with her daughter Thalia. Thalia is a pretty quiet and she didn't seem too interested in playing with Katelyn. Awww. It's ok though, we'll try again! It was good hanging with Connie though, she's very down to earth and no nonsense!
Katelyn showed me what she had written while they were drawing. The top row is supposed to be her name (she doesn't seem to get yet that her letters need to be in the right order). But the second row is the cool part - she was trying to spell out 'princess katelyn' and that's what she came up with. Bravo!
Will was working from home that day so we got to have a nice and rare mommy/daddy/Katelyn lunch at Mitsua.
Oh boy was it BOILING that day. Later that afternoon we met up with friends at Stowe pool It was drainingly hot! Good thing Will was at home this day so he could get into the water with Katelyn.
Tyler had a great time with his bff Jordan and his new friend Kian.
Time to go, all the kids! Bonnie and I had made some sangria earlier in the day and we enjoyed it ALL that night. Haha!
Saturday. Another ridiculous hot day. Our fridge was on the fritz and Will was with the repairman while I took the kids and my in-laws to lunch at Bruxie. Yum.
In the afternoon Tyler had basketball, and I brought Katelyn after she woke from her nap. Check out her pretty dress!
After basketball ended at 4pm we headed up to Rowland Heights for my nephew Landon's 2nd birthday party. SO HOT! Not that much hotter than Irvine though, which tells you how hot it's been down here (especially with our AC not turning on since we have the energy saving program). The kids were happy to see my parents and also play with Kooper, a ridiculously cute little dog.
Sunday morning we headed back over to my in-laws for lunch. The kids ate grilled tuna, freshly caught earlier in the week from my dad's deep sea fishing trip. They really liked it!
Later that afternoon we had plans to meet with friends at the water park in Ladera Ranch. Tyler was excited and even drew out his plans for that day. Notice he drew Katelyn spraying him with a water gun, haha.
After naps we headed down to Ladera. I had been chatting with my friend Carol, who's parents live in Ladera Ranch, and we thought it'd be fun to get everyone together at the water park. What a great idea, and everyone had a lot of fun. Bonnie and I even made Sangria for everyone to enjoy.
What a nice way to kick off Labor Day weekend!
