2nd week of July. Started off with Tyler going over to Jordan's after Chinese school, then an impromptu movie playdate with my friend Susy and her kids (The Croods). The kids were great and had a lot of fun.
Tuesday was Tyler's actual birthday and Jordan came over to play! Happy Birthday Tyler!!
Picked up Katelyn and they were doing a silly dance game. See? They have fun at Montessori schools!
Dinner was at BJs with the Garners. Katelyn and Kylee together are so cute!
Happy birthday to Tyler at BJ's!
Wednesday I had lunch at Tender Greens (again!) with Mariam and Trina. Afterward we headed to Karis Academy to pick up the kids. I had signed them up for Lunch Bunch that day, where I pay $8 a kid and they eat lunch and then play at Playland Cafe downstairs.
Wednesday night - the start of the Nordstroms Anniversary Sale! Headed to South Coast Plaza with a group of 7 friends for some crazy shopping! We all fit in my car too!
Thursday was swim practice (well, every day except Mondays). I brought the wagon this time and we walked to the pool. It was hot! Katelyn was happy I had brought her little chair, she looks so comfortable, and like a big girl!
At ballet practice, Bonne brought baby Ryland (love him!) and the girls were all eager to help push the stroller. Of course the moment I took out my phone to take a picture Katelyn strikes a pose. Hah!
Look! Some work Katelyn has been doing at her Kinder prep class. We need to work on her Y's in her name.
Friday morning, coffee with Janet and Connie. We were going to meet at the Starbucks on Irvine Blvd but it was crazy busy. Went to the Peets in Orchard Hills instead. Always a nice time chatting with the ladies.
What's this? A picture of Will and I? I have no idea why. Just because I guess?
More soccer tonight. Katelyn enjoys water breaks the most out of the whole 1hr15min practice.
Crazy hot that evening. The boys were hanging out in the tent and melting at the same time!
Here's Liv and Katelyn holding our cooler, there must have been some alcoholic beverages in there!
After dinner we all headed to the Town Center for a quick dinner. The kids love running around with their friends.
Saturday - opening day for the Wintersburg Little Hoopsters basketball program. Tyler is looking so handsome! He's on the team with his friends Brady and Jordan, and their friend Lucas is playing too but on the kinder team. Will is team photographer - fitting, no? Katelyn and Mason hung out while the boys met with their team - they're the Blue Flames!
The kids did basketball drills in the CRAZY sun. Usually their practice/games will be in the indoor court at the SCCCA in Irvine, thank goodness.
After basketball we headed home for the kids to take a quick nap. Then we changed them into their swim gear and headed up to West Covina for Sharon's 4th birthday pool party. The kids loved the pool and the giant inflatable slide they had rented.
I, on the other hand, enjoyed the yummy crepes. Without fail they have the catered crepes, and I end up eating way too many of them!
The kids also bounced around in a trampoline, which ended badly when Tyler was getting out. The momentum of Katelyn bouncing knocked him out and he ended up hitting the concrete with his head. AAAAHHHHH! It was quitea fall too, at least 3 feet. I was inside at the time and Will was on kid duty. Poor Tyler!
Kk and the birthday girl Sharon!
I got to hold baby Justin too!
There was a caricaturist who must have been really tired by the end of the night. Our family drawing looked quite strange.
Sunday morning. Boomers birthday party round 2. We learned from our mistakes the previous weekend and got the dry ice the same morning instead of the night before. We got there on time and the kids were ready to play! We also encouraged all the kids to play all the outside rides first thing before it got crowded and hot.
Go-Kart racing! Notice Tyler's bruise on the side of his head. Waaah.
Tyler also did some rock climbing with Kaden. Got about 1/2 way up?
Teacups! Katelyn decided she wanted to wear her crown that day.
Video of the girls on the frog bouncer:
Tyler and Arden had a good time reconnecting. So cute to see him with friends that he has known since they were toddlers. Even though some of the parents I could do without, it's nice to see Tyler with his old friends.
Video of the birthday boy:
This time around Tyler was much more prepared for the ticket booth. Shirt was tucked in and he was shoving them in as fast as he could. Haha!
The kids then headed off for some indoor activities - video games and laser tag! Katelyn even got in on the laser tag this time around. The vest was too heavy though so Will wore it and she walked around next to him with the gun.
This is how they play Laser Tag. They all walk around in a dark and shoot each other. Haha! No wonder they never win.
Gosh, it was SO hot outside. Blithering hot. The kids were excited to go on the bumper boats. Tyler has never been on it simply because the idea of that water getting him wet was not appealing to me. But it was so hot that I gave in. They had a great time and all of them got soaked!
Video of some bumper boat action:
Now that they were all wet and cooled off, it was the perfect time to do 18 holes of miniature golf. I stayed back near the first hole and chatted with friends while the dads took the kids through the course. Still hot!
And then another round of rides outside. Uh-oh, Katelyn may have bitten off more than she can chew riding with the big kids in the teacups. She started out all smiles, but quickly became quite unexcited about how fast the teacup was spinning.
Mommy friends!
Fun on the carousel:
Afterward we headed to Class 302, just down the street, for some shaved ice. The place was packed and we had 4 families so we took it to-go and ate outside. Not the same experience unfortunately. Amazing Katelyn lasted through since it was getting to be late in the afternoon and she hadn't napped yet.
Fun birthday party #2! Thanks to groupons it wasn't very pricey and I barely had to do any prep. Birthday parties should always be this easy in the future.
Should have posted this previously, Katelyn's ballet class group photo.
Yikes, check out the bruise on Tyler's face from falling out of the trampoline. It was more of an abrasion I guess? Thank goodness it wasn't worse.
