Chinese Schoo and Tyler's 6th Bday Party #1!... (Week 312/174)

First week of July!  Started out with a yummy lunch at Tender Greens to celebrate my friend Mariam's bday!  YUM!

Tyler started his summer Chinese school this week at Karis Academy.  He'll be going for 4 weeks with his friend Jordan.  Perfect since there's only 4 weeks left of Summer anyway after our Houston trip the week before.  Tyler and Jordan seem to enjoy it, especially since they get to hang out together.  It's only a morning session, 830am-12pm.

Katelyn has gotten better at coloring, a little?  She's so much fun these days!  She also enjoys doing her writing at home, letters and numbers.

Tuesday started her Montessori 'Summer' session, which means Water playdays on Tuesdays!  She was excited to wear her little swim suit.

Fun day at Chinese school, the kids made whales!  Jordan came over afterward for a playdate.  They are so cute together, I've had anxiety about them not being in the same class next year.  Waaah!

Tuesday night, had a nice Girls Night Out with my friends at this fancy delicious Italian pizza place in Costa Mesa.  It was delicious and a lot of fun!

Back to Chinese school on Wednesday.  Signed Katelyn up for a 9-10am Kinder prep class and 10-12pm Chinese preschool class.  And the owner (Wendy) even let me drop her off at 830am with Tyler!  She was SO excited to be in the same school as Tyler, super cute.

Look who drove down Wednesday night?  Kareen and fam!  Whoohoo!  Katelyn was excited to wake up Thursday morning to see Leah.  They get along great - for the first few days anyway, haha!

Thursday was 4th of July so we all got to hang out at home.  Katelyn and Leah had so much fun playing together!

We even set up this tiny inflatable pool in the backyard that I had bought on clearance last year.  The kids had a blast!

My parents, Will's parents, my grandmother and my brother and his family all came over.  Quite a hectic day, but great to have everyone all together.

Ended the night watching fireworks down the street next to the pool, where we have a great (FREE!) view of the fireworks display from Northwood High.  Kids loved it!  Perfect 4th of July ending.

Uhoh, naked babies!

After the kids were in bed, we played Puerto Rico, Will and I had no idea what we were doing, but it was still a fun game!

Friday morning we sent Tyler to Chinese school (hey, it's paid for!) and the girls hung out and played in the morning.  They headed up to Andy's parents' place for lunch.

Tyler had a playdate with his friends at McDonalds that afternoon - WW III went down between him and the older brother of one of his friends.  Blech.

Friday night, soccer for KK!  Not a star player by any means, but she really enjoyed the cupcake afterward!  We all headed to the adjacent park for dinner.

Saturday morning we headed up to Monterey Park to have dim sum with Kareen and her in-laws.  Then we hung out at their in-laws' place for a bit afterward.

My soon-to-be 6 year old!  The kids were excited about Tyler's birthday party the next day.  We had some last minute prep to do, including picking up the ice cream cake and dry ice for the next day.  I was trying to be very laid back this year and not stress out.  But even this small scale of a party I was a little on edge with preparations.

Sunday morning, we were LATE getting to the party.  Bad planning on our part.  But not too bad.  The kids all got their cards and off they went.  Even though it was for Tyler's birthday, Katelyn had a great time since most of their little sisters came to play too!  LOVE these little girls together.

The kids all played outside for a while, from 10:30am-11:30am and then we headed inside for pizza and cake.  I was sneaky and brought in some salad bowls for the parents.  The veggie and fruit trays were EACH $35!  Craziness!  We had a yummy Oreo Ice Cream for the kids, and oreo cupcakes from Ralphs.  Both were yummy!

Afterward we all headed outside for more fun.  It was hot!  Got Katelyn, somehow, onto the go-karts with Will.  She wasn't really tall enough I think.

It was quite a nice and easy birthday party.  The boys had a great time and the moms got to hang out too.  I even snuck in some ice.  My parents and brother's family also came, strange that there are no photos.  Whoohoo to Tyler turning 6 (almost, a couple days away).
