Tuesday started with a quick playdate at Jordan's. Our last week before Tyler starts 1st grade!
Then we had Tyler's 6 year doctor checkup. My boy is growing! Stats: 46 pounds (53%), 46" (61%). No shots, whew!
Picked up Katelyn from school and found her still sleeping at 3pm! She must have played hard that day, Tuesdays are water play days for them in the Summer months. The kids are so cute. After each of them wakes up, they know to put their blanket and sheets back into their personal bags. So self sufficient!
Tuesday night, another saketini night with my friend Yoko! Always great to catch up since our girls aren't at the same school anymore.
Peeked in on Katelyn's Chinese class at Karis Academy on Wednesday. With Tyler starting school next week and no longer going to Karis, what will happen with Katelyn's Chinese progress?
Dinner was an impromptu dinner with our friends the Garners. KK loves her uncle Stacy! Will brought some of the balsa wood planes we had and the kids had a great time playing with them on large lawn at the town center. Those planes can really fly! One even got stuck really high up in a palm tree but the wind eventually knocked it back down.
Thursday, with Katelyn at Montessori, I picked up Tyler a bit earlier from Karis Academy and met up with Will and friends at our favorite All-you-can-eat Korean BBQ joint - All That Barbeque. How exciting, having lunch with Will on a weekday? That NEVER happens! Ever! He made an exception in his busy schedule since his good college friends were in town visiting. Look at the overload of boys at their own table! Haha! Love that the kids are getting old enough to sit on their own so the parents can get our grub on.
Doesn't Will look like a natural holding a little one? Hint Hint! Haha!
Picked up Katelyn at 3pm and found this in her file. She's writing her own letters and making words! Exciting! Love her new school.
Then we all had dessert at Tutti Frutti. Yum! So many kids!
Later that night we had our monthly meetup with Katelyn's ICDC crew. No kids fell in the fountain this time, of course. Not with the watchful husbands there anyway.
Friday. Last day at Karis for both Katelyn and Tyler for the Summer program. Will even came a little earlier to watch a mini performance by the boys. Bittersweet that it's ending, Tyler and Jordan had a great time, and they actually learned stuff too.
Bonnie and I call Tyler Jordan's backpack. Haha.
Video of Tyler and Jordan's Chinese dialogue:
Video of Tyler singing with his class:
Grand finale, a mini dragon dance! Katelyn thought it was hysterical and couldn't help trying to be a part of it.
Brush painting!
Worked out perfectly that day that Will worked from home so Katelyn was able to nap at home uninterrupted while I took Tyler to a pool playdate at Stowe Pool with his friends Nevan, Jordan and Aaron. This is a pretty standard pool - pretty deep all the way through. I didn't want to bring Katelyn and have to worry. The kids had a great time!
Later that night I met up with friends to celebrate a friend's new job. Had to grab a photo opp even though our main guest of honor hadn't arrived yet! Had CPK sangrias. LOVE them.
Saturday was quite crazy. Decided to skip Tyler's swim meet that morning. Was able to meet up with my parents real quick at Chick Fil-A (always good seeing them, even if it was rushed!) before we dropped Katelyn off to Will's parents place. She went down for her nap there and we took Tyler to his friend Aaron's birthday party at Pump it Up. The morning had been kind of crazy since we were preparing to get all of the stuff ready at Will's parents' place for the kids overnight. About an hour into the party, Will and I took off, changed and headed out to LA. Yikes! EXCITED!!
We checked into our hotel room at the Luxe Hotel, right across from the Staples Center, where the Bruno Mars concert was. EXCITED!!!!!!!! I can't put enough exclamation marks after that! Hung out a bit and then headed over to our friends' hotel room at the Ritz Carlton.
A quick shot before the start of the night!
Dinner was in Downtown, a yummy Italian place, with our friends Christine/Conrad and Conrad's brother and girlfriend. EXCITED!!!!
CONCERT TIME!! There was a problem with parking (argh) that caused us to be late, but good thing it was his starter act - Ellie Goulding. The line for drinks took forever too! But I wanted everything ready before Bruno came on. AHHH! Felt like a teenager again. Our seats were so awesome I could barely believe it.
Waiting anxiously. We were right off the main floor seats, SO close!
Lenny Kravitz even walked right by us.
Queue tons of screaming (from me mostly). Be still my heart. I loved every song he sang, he is amazing and such an unbelievable performer!
Look how close he is! The picture makes him look farther away but I was close enough to see his facial expressions!
Adrenaline pumping still! Aaaahh!
Went back to the Luxe Hotel where they had an outdoor lounge on their second floor. Fancy hip place, hung out with friends and ate/drank until we closed down the bar!
Even got in some quality time with my friend Yoko who was there for the concert too!
Sunday morning. Exhausted. I was in a foggy haze, barely functioning almost! Checked out of the hotel and had breakfast near West LA at Wiffle Waffles. YUM!
Then we headed to our friend Joan's baby shower in West LA. I was still in a fog and SO tired. Oops, no photo with Joan but I have one with my friend Shirley, who also is having a baby! By the time we got back to Irvine it was later in the afternoon (horrendous traffic on the way down). Was great to see the kids and heard they had been well behaved (whew!).
