Starting Montessori and Swim Practice, Woodbury Carnival, GF Open House and Ballet Recital... (Week 308/170)

Another week!  Monday after pickup of the boys from Kinder we all headed to YogurtLand for a quick playdate.  Love this little set of boys together!

This week marked Katelyn's official start at Great Foundations Montessori.  Here she is with Miss Jessy.  Our first week went great!  There were a couple tears on one of the days on drop off but it didn't last long thank goodness.  She's very adaptable!

Monday night was a fundraising event for Tyler's swim team at the Habit.  Yummy burgers.  Invited the Garners the join us for a nice dinner.  The kids were very happy!  We haven't even started practice yet, so we didn't known anyone there.

Swimmer Tyler!  His first day of practice!  He was very excited to get into the water and has been excited every day since.  Glad he already kind of knew how to swim and that it wasn't brand new to him.  Katelyn is happy too because she gets to hang out for 45 minutes with the ipad!

OC Chinese School for KK - they made home made playdough!

Back to Montessori on Thursday.  Here she was tracing different shapes happily.  She is so excited about all the different things she is exposed to, totally different from her old school.

Back on swim that day, Katelyn was already dressed for her ballet class afterward.  It proved to be quite a headache since Tyler's swim practice is until 4:30pm and Katelyn starts her ballet class at 4:30pm too!  Not sure how we were going to swing it this Summer, but luckily Will got off early and we did a quick switcheroo at the pool at 4:15pm and I took off with Katelyn.

Friday was a busy fun day.  With the kids in school, met up with my friend Connie for a coffee.

After picking up Katelyn, I met up with my friends Susy/Christine at the Woodbury Town Center for some more coffee.  Can never have enough coffee!  The girls played and we chatted.  Did I mention it was a free coffee day or something, some Starbucks deal.
Then after picking up the boys from Kindergarten, we headed back out to the Starbucks for some more coffee this time with even more kids.  We're obsessed, I tell ya!

Later that afternoon was the Woodbury Carnival at Tyler's elementary school.  It was hot!  We met up with our friends and enjoyed an afternoon of carnival games and food trucks.  The boys (and girls!) loved all the carnival games.  Some booths were easy on letting the kids win, and some had tough volunteer parents who wouldn't give out prizes no matter how close the kids were!  The kids still all had fun though.

This game below had the kids calling out which color they thought they'd throw the ball into.  Katelyn actually won a cute little mouse stuffed animal in this one!

Fishing.  Pretty funny, the kids put these sticks with hooks on into this hole, and there's a volunteer on the other end hooking prizes onto them.  Haha!

Mommy friends!

Kindergarten friends.

Good thing Tyler had a hat on since this was a dunk tank and the dunkee had a water gun to shoot out at the crowd.

Future gymnast?

After going through all the games, we headed to the food trucks for some dinner.  The boys also burned a lot of energy on the field.

KK and her friend Kendall playing with Uncle Sam.  Apparently the oversized sunglasses were hilarious.  Look how cute her little stuffed animal is!

Next uncle to play with, Uncle Conrad!

We had to leave early to head over to Katelyn's Open House at her Montessori.  This was Friday, the end of her very first week at her new school.  She was so excited to show us the work she had been doing this week, they even had a booklet made for her even though she's so new.  I feel really good about this change for her.

Katelyn was really excited to show us all the different activities she does when she's in school.

With her teacher Miss Eliana.

And with her lead teacher Miss Jessy.  I really like Miss Jessy, requested her specifically after observing all the classrooms.

We had left a car at Tyler's elementary school and went back to get it after the Open House ended.  Our friends the Garners were still there, so we hung out for a while longer.  The kids had a great time!

Saturday started out with a trip to South Coast plaza.  We haven't gone there together forever!  We were having lunch with Will's parents and they suggested Maggiano's, which prompted our little outing.  The kids were excited to ride the carousel and visit the Lego store.

Katelyn even struck a pose!

Lunch was nice with Will's parents.

Saturday evening I met up at my friend Taylor's house and we went to Javier's in Newport Beach for dinner.  Delicious dinner and great time with these gals.  This is our ICDC crew, used to be 6 families but after last year's crazy drama the 4 of us are still tight thank goodness!

Sunday was a crazy day.  Started out with getting my hair blown out at the Blow Dry Bar at the Spectrum.  We had all gotten Groupons that expired that week, and it was a perfect occasion since it was the girls' ballet recital that night.  It even included a deep conditioning.

Such voluminous hair I have!  Still kind of boring though, huh.  I think I may need to cut some real layers.

After picture with Bonnie and Christine.

Then we all headed home to get the girls ready.  We were all supposed to meet at Barclay Theater (a performance theater at UCI) at 4pm.  I had an anxiety attack after Katelyn's nap as I tried to do her bun.  Totally failed.  Totally freaked out.  Ended up having Will's hair stylist do it totally last minute!  She hadn't used one of those sock bun things before either and it took forever.  We were super late and I was so stressed.  Good thing their dress rehearsal is at 4pm and the concert isn't until 6pm.  The crazy thing is that you just leave them with the ballet company, and you're not allowed backstage with them.  Then you don't see them again until AFTER the performance when you pick them up!

Katelyn was all smiles and ready to go.

We had time to kill we walked across to this shopping center across the street to hang out with a bunch of other moms.  Here I am with Christine and Bonnie before the performance!

Katelyn's performance was SO cute.  Ridiculously no photos were allowed so Will had to be super stealthy.  So glad he got some though, wish we had a video because it was so cute.  At one point Katelyn pushed her way between two girls to stand in the middle front.  Hah!

Our pretty ballerina with the grandparents.

Our ballerinas.  So adorable.

The ballerinas and their mommies.  So glad that we decided to go through with this and put the girls in ballet and do the recital.  It was worth it!

Back at home, gotta love In'n'Out!
