Happy Valentines Day everyone! With the craziness of the last couple weeks, we welcome a nice easy relaxing week. Of course this week had Valentine's Day though. Luckily Will and I are not big V-day celebrators. We had talked a little about doing something but laziness got the best of us.
Look at the cute little Valentine's Day treat bags Tyler and his friends made at school. They decorated them and hung them up in a row in preparation for the big day.
Even though Tyler's friend Jordan comes over on Tuesdays, it's almost like they're babysitting each other and I get to just sit back and relax, or (and this is more common) clean the house.
This is what Tyler's class is doing in Kindergarten. Counting. I like to think that Tyler's Kumon helps him be more advanced, but there are actually quite a number of boys in his class that read and write just as well as he does - if not better!
Tuesday night our water heater broke. Will found out the hard way when he ran completely out of hot water mid shower. Yikes! The next day Will's parents came down and his dad helped Will change out the water heater. It was nice since Will worked from home that day and I didn't have to drag Katelyn around with me everywhere!
Thursday - Valentine's Day! Earlier this week we found out that Katelyn's pre-school was having a parent's night out on Valentine's Day. How perfect! We didn't need to find a babysitter or anything, just paid the $20 per kid and we were on our way to a date night! The kid got dressed in their reddest of reds to celebrate the day.
Getting the kids to ICDC was a bit complicated but we made it work. Katelyn was already there, but I picked up our friends' kid Kaden from CDC and took both him and Tyler to ICDC. We dropped them off before the start time and had one of their older teachers watch them for a bit. Then we met at the Garners and booked it down the toll to Cinepolis in Rancho Santa Margarita, a luxury movie theater. LOVED this place. Must go again. Think leather reclining loveseats, food served during the movie, desserts, full bar, etc. Only problem was that they were fully booked (you buy specific seats online ahead of time) and the food came out SO slow. Our food came out near the end of the movie and we were famished! Great customer service though, because they comped the whole meal. Can't wait to go there again.
After the movie, we picked up the kids right before the preschool closed at 9pm. Whew, it was close! Grumpy Tyler was a bit tired. Will got me some lovely tulips and couldn't resist a quick photo opp when we got home before putting the kids down to bed.
Look at all the V-day loot from school! Except that Tyler doesn't eat candy, so guess who is going to end up eating it. Doh!
Saturday morning I had signed the kids up for a free shoelace tieing lesson at Nordstrom's at the Spectrum. Super cute little program. I think Tyler is really getting the hang of it.
And then a yummy dim-sum brunch at Capital Seafood. The waiter knew me and the kids and commented that he remembered how much the kids like shu-mai.
Rest of the day consisted of walking around the Spectrum, some park fun, and the kids' favorite: In'n'Out.
And lastly, to close off a nice relaxing weekend - Girl's Night out with some of my friends at Maggiano's on Sunday night.
