Happy long weekend everyone!
Tyler is happily enjoying kindergarten these days. With a couple teacher issues though. We had a last minute teacher change the week before school started (original teacher found out she had breast cancer!) and we had just settled into accepting/liking their new teacher (Mrs. Vose). Unfortunately, 6 weeks into school, Mrs. Vose took a new position at another school and, just like that, the kids are going to start a new teacher Monday. Good things kids can adapt to change pretty easily, but you can imagine us parents weren't too thrilled.
Here's Tyler with his teacher Mrs. Vose on her last day (Friday)!
This week Tyler also started soccer practice for AYSO. Very exciting. Very cute also, since the kids seem pretty darn clueless. Our soccer coach is a really nice mom, who doesn't have too much experience either. Oh well, it's all for fun right? Hope the kids don't get beaten too badly at their first game! :)
On Wednesday, Tyler got to have some fun pool time with his friends Elijah and Zachary. I didn't plan to get in the water but luckily my friend Lisa (Elijah and Zachary's mom) happily helped Tyler with his swimming. I'll have to get in next time!
Tyler also practiced some bike riding without training wheels. We have his friend's old bike and he's really got the hang of it. Only problem is that the bike is too small for him and he knees seem to keep knocking on the handlebars. We haven't put him yet back on his big bike though - it's so big for him to get started without training wheels! Katelyn happily rode her scooter.
This week also marked Katelyn's last week as a full time kid at ICDC. Waaah! It was a short week though, since the school was closed on Friday for the long weekend. I took her with me to drop off Tyler and then met up with my friend Bonnie and her daughter Kendall at Irvine Spectrum. Afterward Katelyn and I had lunch at the Nordstrom Bistro. She was so well behaved, and we had such a nice little lunch together. I think it'll be fun spending more time with her. She really loved her spaghetti. :)
Friday afternoon, we picked up Tyler and headed to Disneyland! Love our annual passes. Love not feeling rushed and forced to go on a bunch of rides. The kids were really excited too (of course!).
Look how exited Katelyn is on the tram ride!
Katelyn liked Autopia - she's not such a great driver yet.
While Will took Tyler on Thunder Mountain, I took Katelyn to meet Princess Jasmine!
Katelyn loves Sleeping Beauty's castle! I can't wait to take her more often now that she's older.
Family photo in front of the castle!
Later in the evening we met up with our friends the Mutucs and Fongs and stayed to watch fireworks!
Here's a photo of myself and my friend Amy Fong. We'll be hanging out more now that I've got Katelyn with me. She's a stay at home mom too with two girls.
Tyler is always happy to see his friends, especially those that he doesn't get to see that often.
Winnie and I took our boys to ride Star Tours (thank goodness for Fast Passes!) while Will took Katelyn on Buzz Lightyear. Two staples in our Disneyland trips!
Look, Katelyn has such a high score! Amazing huh! :)
We stayed until fireworks (great view from Small World) and then headed home for the night. Fun trip!
Saturday we took the day easy, but started the day with dim sum at Capital Seafood at the Diamond Jamboree plaza. It was our first time there and quite yummy. Tyler LOVES shu mais!
Then we headed to REI to do some camping preparation. We bought a crazy tent! The kids LOVED playing in the tents that they had set up.
On Sunday we headed to Amy's daughter's 1st birthday party for Madeline in Ladera Ranch. Kids loved the bounce house (as usual).
There's a nice shaded park right next door and the kids had a great time playing there as well!
Tyler overheated himself.
The birthday family!
Katelyn got a good hug in with the birthday girl too!
She liked her goody bag too!
More park fun!
Whew, what a day! Kids were ready for bed by the time we got home. But that didn't keep Katelyn from playing 'makeup'! Haha!
And a nice ending - a Video of Tyler and Katelyn chatting about Star Wars!:
