This week went by pretty quick, nothing too crazy to report! Tyler's Kumon seems to be getting more difficult and I'm dealing with more resistance from him (blah!). Katelyn is still as bossy as ever, and will only use the potty when there's something in for her. UGH! Can't wait until next week, when she's home with me MWF and I'm going to put her in underwear all day and force her to get back to her potty training days!
Tyler's been enjoying his TKD lately - he especially loves his weapons days when he gets to use his nunchucks!

Spur of the moment... we decided to hit Disneyland Wednesday night! Our SoCal Select passes finally had their blackout dates end starting Monday, and Wednesday was really the only day of the week that we didn't have evening activities. Plus my friend Paula and her family were there as well so I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to get a taste of Disney again and meet up with our friends. Plus I like that we have the flexibility to just hit Disneyland for a couple hours... just because we can! The kids were SUPER excited. Here we are on the tram.
Katelyn is getting a little tired of us taking photos of her. Can't. Help. It.
We got there around 6pm and just walked around mostly in CA Adventure. The kids have never been to Cars Land (they opened during our blackout dates) and it was really cute just walking around Radiator Springs. They did a great job! We didn't bother getting into any lines though, since Will and I will be taking Tyler back in a few weeks for a full day!
It's totally Radiator Springs!
Instead of character appearances (like Mickey Mouse) they have Lightning McQueen and Mater. We just happened to be near the back lot entrance when Lightning McQueen came out on his way to a meet and greet. Very interesting - he has pre-recorded sayings and everything. Usually Disney characters don't speak but I guess they needed these guys to be a little more personable.
We did go on the Little Mermaid ride though - the line always moves pretty fast and Katelyn LOVES Ariel! She was very excited. Of all the Disney princesses, I think Tyler would choose Ariel as his favorite too.
We don't come to CA Adventure nearly enough, but it does have a lot of fun rides without being too heavily Disney themed.
The kids each got to pick one ride to go on that day. Katelyn picked the Little Mermaid ride and Tyler picked the Toy Story Midway Mania ride. Both not surprising choices. Unfortunately Tyler's pick had quite a long ride - but we braved it.
We passed the time away in line by devouring a giant turkey leg. Disneyland's turkey legs are so juicy and tender - delicious! The kids (especially Tyler) LOVE it. I've never seen Tyler eat so much meat in one sitting as when he's eating one of these! Katelyn got in on the action too.
It got dark while we were waiting in this line! Good thing the kids were in good spirits.
Finally! I sat with Katelyn this time, which really put a damper on my score, haha! She didn't really seem to know what was going on, so I had to help her aim her shooter while she kept pulling the trigger.
Afterward we met up with my friend Paul and her girls Taylor and Morgan. Morgan and Tyler go to Kindergarten together and they all go to Kumon.
Then we hung out and waited to see World of Color. I'm not such a big fan but I didn't really want to be standing around and waiting in more lines. It was hot and I was feeling sticky. Tyler didn't mind waiting, but then Paula's husband Randy and Will took all the kids to ride the Little Mermaid again.
Group picture! We ended up leaving not too much after the show started. The kids fell asleep on the way home and then woke up when we got home. It was not a pretty sight for Katelyn. She doesn't like being woken up! We had to wash them though, it had been a long sticky day!
The next morning Tyler had swim class bright an early. He did fine and was very excited about his new goggles. They practiced having him jump from the side and then swimming back to the wall. Tyler would keep swimming diagonally toward the teacher.
At least he gets to play in the water afterward!

Friday I met up with my Kumon Mommy friends to celebrate Paula's 37th birthday. These are all wonderful ladies, and we always have a good time together. Paula had an unexpected last minute appointment so I picked up her girls from school.
Tyler and Morgan watched Powerpuff Girls on the DVD in the car while we waited for Taylor to get out of school at 2pm (the kindergarteners end at 1:20pm).
Friday afternoon, we headed over to my friend Bonnie's home for a playdate. Will joined us later. Bonnie's son is Jordan, who is in the same Kindergarten class at Tyler. We all first met when the boys were playing soccer. Tyler and Jordan get along really well, and it's nice that there are so many boys in his kindergarten class that I'd like to get their moms! Haha! We all had dinner at the town center afterward.
Later that night my friend Mariam came by and we had our own little late night happy hour at my place. Love any opportunity to have my Sweet Tea Vodka, haha! Sometimes it's just nice to hang out and chat, hopefully we'll do it again soon.
Saturday morning we headed up to Will's parents' place in Monterey Park for lunch. The kids were really well behaved and really sweet to the grandparents.
After lunch, we headed to my brother's place in Rowland Heights for my nephew Landon's 1st Birthday Party! Exciting! It was quite hot though. Katelyn got poked by a pair of really sharp scissors and it poked a hole in her cheek that bled. ACK!
Tyler was hot.
There weren't any other kids their age to play with so they kept themselves entertained by watching Nick Jr.
The kids were pretty terrified of my brother's giant dog, but eventually warmed up to it. Tyler even threw a tennis ball around a couple times with Chowder.
Katelyn eventually warmed up to this adorable little dog Cooper that a friend brought by.
Happy birthday Landon!
Ooh, here's a picture of Katelyn's terrified-ness of Chowder. As soon as she saw him coming toward her, she'd flinch and scream and run off!
K loves to hang out with Auntie Valerie! Tyler really likes Val and her boyfriend (my brother's BFF) Warren too.
The kids and Warren! Warren is into race cars and owns a few. Definitely makes him more likeable for Tyler, haha!
Sunday. Dragging our feet. Will and I forced ourselves to take the kids to Sea World. Our 2 year membership passes were about to expire and we just HAD to go one last time before they did. It was a good visit though, we got there a little past 9am (when they opened) and left by 1pm. Just enough time to hit the exhibits and see a show, without exhausting us too much.
The kids loved the polar bears!
...and the walrus...
...but their favorite were the beluga whales! The whales can see through the glass and almost seem like they are looking back at us and smiling. Super cute.
Video of the kids and the beluga whales:
... the penguin exhibit was a hit too...
...and we even met a huge sea turtle named Bruce! He was WAY huger than the other turtles. This is obviously not a real turtle we are sitting on, but it reminded the kids of Bruce.
Katelyn was excited to see the shark encounter.
And then we watched the Shamu show!
Hit up the tidepool next and the kids got to touch starfish.
Had a quick lunch of a turkey leg (nowhere as juicy/tender as Disney's) and we were out of there! Unfortunately we hit traffic on the way out but got home by 330pm and took the rest of the day easy.
