Video of Katelyn and Tyler with mommy in the pool:
Katelyn liked hoarding the pool toys.
Tuesday I had a much needed saketini night with my friend Yoko. Who knew there would be drama in a group of housewives? Having this night out really helped me de-stress about silly issues!
Incidentally, Will and I had left our waterproof camera at the community pool on Monday. We didn't realize until late Monday night and by then it was gone when Will went to check. I had the great idea of putting up a sign with our phone number and lo and behold, a family called us and returned the camera to us on Tuesday! There are good people in this world! Thursday was Woodbury CDC's Parent Orientation night. I dropped my phone getting out of the car and it cracked! Horrible bad luck! The LCD screen cracked and the phone was barely usable. I am so lost without my phone and got it fixed while I waited the next morning after doing a Pure Barre class (kicked my butt!) with my friend Lisa.
Katelyn also started visiting her next class (Pre-1) for longer periods this week, in preparation for her starting there full time on Friday. She LOVES the big yard, especially since she gets to play with Tyler and his friends (who she thinks are her friends anyway). I snapped this photo during snack time in Pre-1. Very different from snack time in the toddler room where the kids sit around in on the floor. She's getting so big! I'm also excited since she's been much more open to using the potty, maybe something is clicking since she's a "big girl" now. She was really quite consistent this whole past weekend at using the potty - today she even used the potty 3x in the evening! Yipppeee!!
Friday night we had some friends stop by (one of the guys had accidentally left his phone in Will's bag during their Thursday night basketball session). They were driving down from San Gabriel and got here around 8pm. The kids were all washed up and ready for bed, but they were so excited to have visitors! They both love Auntie Mei, she always plays with them whenever we go to parties that our friends throw in West Covina/South Hills.
Here's Katelyn on her first full day in Pre-1 on Friday, next to her cubbie! She's never had her own cubbie before!
Saturday we went to a birthday party in Northwood Point for one of Katelyn's school friends Kayla. I was a little worried that Tyler would be bored but he attached himself to one of Kayla's older cousins Isiah. Isiah is 9 years old and I think he just merely tolerated Tyler, he probably didn't think he could get rid of him, haha! Tyler was really excited to play Kinect though.
They had rented a bounce house in their backyard and the kids had a great time in it!
Here's Katelyn and her friend Harmony hanging out.
They loved blowing bubbles!
Here's a little video of Katelyn blowing bubbles with Harmony:
I joked that these 3 girls lined up were like the 3 bears. Katelyn is a good couple inches taller than Harmony and Harmony is a good couple inches taller than Kayla!
There was a pinata, even Katelyn got a good couple whacks in.
Tyler really went to town.
See how friendly Katelyn is. Kayla's great-aunt held onto her while the boys were hitting the pinata, and this is the first time Katelyn has ever met her!
They had these yummy popcorn snacks that Katelyn LOVED. She loved it so much she couldn't even be bothered to stop stuffing her face to take a picture with me.
Birthday cake time! 2 birthday cakes, yummy yummy.
I love that we are able to give her dairy and wheat now. Life is so exciting for her, so many new things to try!
More bounce house fun. Tyler got some interesting poses in...
Love this not-impressed shot of Katelyn.
The older kids were doing these cool flips in the bounce house. Tyler watched for a bit and then worked up the courage to give it a try.
Here he goes...
Uhoh.. not looking so good (Isiah's expression in the background is hilarious)...
Really not looking good...
Fail!! Haha!
An unsuccessful group shot of the moms with the girls. Harmony is not a fan of taking group pictures.
This was an interesting game the kids played. Katelyn and Kayla were both laying on the ground and the big kids bounced around them so that their bounces would make Katelyn/Kayla bounce up and down. It looked like an accident waiting to happen, but they loved it.
Group shot at the end of the night!
How quickly Katelyn makes new friends...
And one last attempted group shot of the girls. Yup, that's Harmony on the ground...
Katelyn and the birthday girl! What an un-ladylike pose.
Sunday! After registering Tyler for Chinese school for the Fall, I took Katelyn on a playdate with my friend Ann and her son Grayon. If you remember, Grayson is in Katelyn's class at school and is also the boy that gave her that horrible deep bite last week. Katelyn doesn't let us forget it, poor thing. She had a fun time at the park, even though Grayson did not like that she was there. He seemed fine in the beginning, but gradually started showing his true colors. He even started grabbing her arm and pulling down when she was playing next to him. Then he kept saying "I want no katelyn". Hmph! It was sad to see since Katelyn is so friendly and playful and he is much more shy and reserved. I like Ann a lot but it may not be in the cards if he doesn't like my Katelyn! Whats not to like?!!
Sunday afternoon we headed down to Ladera Ranch for a playdate hosted by the Fongs. I had to wake up Katelyn from her nap since we were running so late, but luckily she was in a good mood and excited to go play at the waterpark. (Sometimes she is a screaming terror if you wake her from her nap). The kids L O V E D it. Reminds me of the community waterparks in Houston when we visit my older sister Grace).
How pale is Katelyn?!
This photo cracks me up since it really emphasizes Katelyn's fairness.
The boys had a great time with their water shooters.
And Katelyn liked her little rockets!
Video of Katelyn playing with daddy at the waterpark (including Jaws and Star Wars sound effects):
Myself and the other moms hung out on the lounge chairs while most of the dads were playing with the kids in the water. I think I got some color! Maybe next time I will be braver and actually go in the water with everyone around. It was nice to hang out and chat though! Here are some photos before we left.
(Tyler said it was too bright to get a photo with his eyes open..)
After the park we all had dinner at CPK. The kids were pretty well behaved (with some exceptions). It was a full and fun weekend, can't wait to go to the waterpark again!
Here's a little video of Katelyn and her balloon doggie:
