Strawberry Picking, Toddler and Masters Graduation and a Bday Party! (Week 254/116)

Another busy week!

The week started off with Tyler's last ICDC field trip.  They headed to Tanaka Farms for some yummy strawberry picking!  Quite bittersweet thinking that this will be their last ICDC trip, but also glad that I've been able to go on all his field trips.

Bus ride!

Here's Tyler with his friends Elijah, Dylan and Luke.  Aren't they cute?  Tyler keeps asking me why he's not 5 yet when almost all of his friends are.  It's out of my hands though!

On the tractor ride before we picked strawberries, the kids got to try several different freshly pulled vegetables.

Tyler ate none of them.  Especially not the onion!  Some of the other kids were munching things down like crazy, even the cilantro and bok choy!

At last, strawberry picking!  It was quite HOT.  I let Tyler go straight to picking/eating while I filled our strawberry baskets.

Tyler has loved strawberries ever since he was a little kid!

Here's Tyler and his BFF Girlfriend Arden!

That afternoon I picked up Katelyn early for her allergy appointment.  How cute is her hair?  I have a lot to practice!

They did the skin prick on her back.  On the car drive there, we talked about what then nurses were going to do, and how important it was that she stayed laying on her stomach.  She was such a trooper!  The two gals poked her at the same time (so that it was just a one time thing) and held down those little prickers for quite a while.  She sobbed heavily during it but calmed down super quick.  When I took out my camera she even gave me a smile!

No official results yet (will see the doctor in 2 weeks) but it's looking like she's outgrown most of her allergies.  The main giant welt is from almonds.

Katelyn needed to lay there for 15 minutes, which was a breeze once she started watching The Little Mermaid on the iPad.

This is also the week that Katelyn started visiting the Big Yard!  She is moving to her next class (Pre-1) on June 1st, so they start visiting a little each day so that they will be adjusted when move date comes.  She loves the big yard, and especially playing with Tyler and his friends!  Here she is painting in Tyler's class in the morning.  She must think that this is going to be her class. :)

I thought this picture was so funny, the kids love playing Jenga.  Katelyn looks so deep in thought, but Will usually finds a loose one for her to pull out slowly.

On Wednesday Tyler got sent home from school with a high fever.  Poor kid.  He was fine when I dropped him off in the morning but by lunchtime he was complaining to the teachers that he had a headache.  They took his temperature and it was 103 degrees!  He was so miserable when I picked him up.  I spent the rest of the day giving him ibuprofen and acetaminophen, but it barely helped his fever go down.  He complained that his neck hurt too (sore throat!).  By the next day though, he was fine.  He woke up with a little fever but he was in great spirits.  Totally different from the night before when he was whining and crying.  We had a BUSY Thursday!  He couldn't go back to school so we started the morning off at the Discovery Science Center.

He did some rock climbing...

Checked out the different exhibits...

And really liked the Boeing Rocket Lab!

After that we headed to the Dollar theaters in Irvine where we watched The Lorax 3D.  He got scared near the end but we made it through.  Then we headed home for a nap before going Go-Kart racing at Boomers!  He LOVES Go-Kart racing!  On the big karts where I drove, he spent the whole time telling me to go faster, faster!

Thursday evening was Katelyn's Toddler room graduation.  Another bittersweet moment!  I had gone shopping that morning (Nordstrom was having a sale) and happened to have a cute dress in the car when we went back to school.  I hadn't planned on changing her but she was such a dirty mess that I had to!  How cute is she!?

Katelyn had been trying to take a picture with her friend Harmony, but Harmony kept running off last minute.  This happened so many times that Katelyn got upset.  I knew Tyler wouldn't run away so we asked her instead to take a photo with him.  She was still very grumpy though.

Here she is with her friend Amelia!

And then playing with some sunglasses.  She is such a friendly social butterfly...I wonder where she gets that from.. hah!

Dinner was Mexican food and Katelyn was excited to eat cheese.  We've decided to let her start eating wheat and dairy.  It's very exciting for her!

Showing off some huge flip flops... she looks kind of like a little person with the angle of this photo though.

Here she is with her friend Christian.  He's telling her a funny joke...

...and she thought it was hilarious too!

Then the kids all got called up one by one for a gift.  Here's Katelyn getting a hug from Miss Tiffany, the head teacher.

Here we are with Yoko and Harmony.

Family photo!  Tyler was off in the side room eating his dinner and happily playing on the iPad.

Pirate Katelyn!

Sadly, Katelyn got bit by one of her friends that day (Grayson).  It was QUITE a bite.  This is the mark it left almost 12 hours later!

Friday.  BIG day for mommy- Graduation Day!  We had talked and talked about it, and Will and I decided that the day would be too much for Katelyn to handle.  Instead we got the kids dressed in the morning and took some photos before taking Katelyn to daycare.

Tyler had a private TKD lesson in the morning to go over his form and then we headed up to CSULB.  After parking we took the shuttle to the commencement location.  Tyler was in great spirits.  He was excited that his little backpack had his snacks and my iPad in it for him to play with!

First stop at 11am was the department hooding.  This is where you get formally hooded by faculty from your department.

With Gus and Daniel.  These guys majorly helped me when it came down to hard core studying for the comps!

Tyler was still in a good mood.

Hooding!

After the hooding Tyler was starting to get tired but still was up for taking a photo.  Unfortunately he became quite grumpy soon after.

Will's parents met up with us before the actual commencement ceremony that was to start at 1pm.  There was drama since Tyler was not in a good mood.  Really frustrating.

Walking!

Tyler knocked out during the commencement ceremony and took a nap on Will's lap.  He was so tired!  Thank goodness.  Everyone was in a slightly better mood afterward.

Like my hood? :)

Afterward we picked up Katelyn from school and then headed to Five Crowns for dinner.  Will's parents got lost on the way so the kids kept themselves occupied with their electronic devices.  I had snuck in some Chik-Fil-A chicken nuggets which they happily ate along with some pasta.  The rest of us enjoyed some delicious Prime Rib. YUM!

The kids were done with their meal even before our entrees came, but happily watched Netflix on my iPad.  I took the kids for a little walk when they were getting antsy, and one of the hosts took us upstairs.  I've never been up there!  They have a conference room as well as some private dining rooms.  The kids were excited to look around, especially in the conference room which the host told us they called the "Egg Room" since there were portraits of different eggs as well as a secret hidden egg.

Photo with the grandparents afterward.

And a family picture!

My lovely Katelyn with a pretty bouquet of flowers.  Cutie!

Saturday morning was quite challenging with the kids.  Our Costco trip was exhausting for everyone due to bad behavior.  The kids knocked out on the ride home (to be expected!).  We headed down to the Spectrum that afternoon to have an early dinner with friends.  Katelyn really wanted to go on the Ferris Wheel and Carousel, but instead I got her a little inflated dog.  She LOVED that thing, it was so cute to see her pulling it around behind her.

Sunday morning we had a last minute get together with my parents (who had just gotten back from Vancouver) and my brother's family.  Mini celebration for my graduation since none of them could make it.

These three pictures are really similar except for Katelyn.  She was excited about the cake!

Sunday afternoon we went to Tyler's friend Elijah's 5th birthday party.  Lego Party!  Even Katelyn had a great time with all the Legos!

The kids had a lot of room to run around and play as well after the Lego man left.  I don't even know any of these kids but Tyler easily made new friends.

Here's Katelyn meeting a new friend Thalia.

She was very intent on going to the playground.  She's so cute these days.  When she asks if she can do something and we don't give her a straight answer, she'll stop and ask again in Chinese.  Smart cookie.  She knows then we'll usually give in because I can't resist her speaking Chinese!

Playground time!

Katelyn the Pirate.  She's saying "aarrrgghhh" and closing one eye.

Then she pulled her hat over one eye instead for her eye patch. :)

A picture with all the moms in our little group after the party.  Love these gals, and love that we can have such a good time together while our kids are playing together!

Almost caught up!
