A CRAZY weekend ... (Week 256/118)

This week was crazy!  I wanted to make sure I got my post up asap so I wouldn't forget all the stuff that was going on.

Tuesday was the last day of our Disneyland annual passes before the Summer black out.  It's quite unfortunate that the blackout started just a couple weeks before the grand opening of Carsland, but I'm sure that was planned on purpose!  I've been taking Tyler to Disneyland quite often lately (exhausting!) and I was really on the fence about whether I should take him one last time.  I decided the night before and surprised Tyler the next morning.  What a lucky kid!  We got there before the park opened and went on all his favorite rides before leaving by noon.  I didn't want to get stuck there all day again and Tyler was so excited about the surprise that he was pretty understanding about leaving early.

It seems a lot of people had the same idea as I did and Disneyland seemed pretty packed that day.  Good thing we got there super early and through some good FastPass planning, we went on Buzz, Thunder Mountain, Pirates, Star Tours and Space Mountain 2x.

He's looking a little scared here huh!

A yummy turkey leg lunch - Tyler's favorite!  We ate the whole thing!

Then Star Tours...

... and Space Mountain again before heading home!  Quick trip, wasn't too exhausted either!

Tyler napped on the car ride home and I barely sneezed in a quick snooze before it was off to the rest of the activities in the afternoon.  Tyler actually woke me up because he wanted help with his Legos.  Needless to say I was not in a happy mood and did not help him!  We went to Kumon and then TKD.  I met a new mommy friend Hanna whose daughter used to go to school with Tyler!

Back at school, Katelyn was having great progress with using the potty!  Monday she had told the teachers that she only uses the potty at home not at school.  We told her she should try to use the potty at school!  Tuesday she used the potty at the end of the day at school!  Exciting!  And Wednesday...well Wednesday her lead teacher called me and asked me to bring in underwear the next day.  WAHHH?  Apparently she had been dry almost all day (except a poop) and the teacher felt she was ready to try underwear.  EXCITING!  The result?  NO POTTY ACCIDENTS at all on Thursday and Friday at school.  Is that amazing or what?  She just decided to use the potty!  Thursday she went through all her underwear, but not because she was having accidents, but because she wasn't pulling her underwear all the way down and she was getting pee on them while she sat on the toilet.  Friday they had her take both her shorts and underwear completely off each time she used the potty.  BIG GIRL!  I was excited to take a picture of her diaper chart - she's all "UP"s which means "Used potty".  My big girl!!  Now if only she could poop in the potty and not her underwear.  The problem is that she's wearing underwear now, and those don't hold the poop in very well!

Friday was a busy busy day.  Friday Night Futbol at Stonegate Park!  I was really excited for Tyler to play, and he was really excited as well.  He wanted to play "real soccer" and not the drills that he had practiced in his tiny tots soccer class through the City of Irvine.   Even though he's only 4, I put him in the line with the 5 year olds.  He had a great time!

Look at what a big boy he looks like here!

My friend introduced me to a friend of hers named Sandy.  Turns out she was a childhood friend I knew as Sandra!  What a small world!  She is a lot older I think, so I don't remember hanging out with her as kids.

After soccer (515-630) we grabbed a quick bite to eat at Woodbury with the Saitos.  Here's Tyler and Elijah.  We get a lot of comments that they look alike.  I don't see it, do you?  Sure, they're both Asian... but come on!

After getting home we got the kids ready for bed quick before our friends Jen and Vince came over for wine night!  The kids had a lot of fun playing with them.  They LOVE it when people visit, they're on their best behavior and are so personable and sociable.  We put them to bed and then hung out with Jen and Vince and wine late into the night.  I love that they are so flexible about hanging out and understand what it's like to have kids.  I don't like to hire a babysitter unless we really have to, and this way the kids get to spend some time with them and we also don't have to hire a sitter!  They are a great couple, I love them!

Saturday.  Crazy start of the weekend.  Headed to Sport Authority at the Marketplace by 10am to sign up Tyler for AYSO in the Fall.  There was already a long line!  Then we rushed over to Tyler's TKD studio where they were having a bully prevention seminar that also started at 10am.  First thing we were late to!  There was a bounce house and stuff for the kids to play with.  We met up with a few other families.  Here's a photo of the moms.

Then we headed over to China Garden for a dim sum lunch.  Good thing we got the last table!  Lunch was nice and relaxing.  The adults got to chat and the kids were very interested in the iPad.

After lunch Katelyn started getting really fussy since she was pretty tired.  It was already 1pm-ish I think.  She gave crying a good go on the ride home before she knocked out.  Both her and Tyler took good naps, and Will and I even caught a quick nap too!  Unfortunately we woke up at 2:50pm...with a birthday party in Laguna Woods starting at 3pm!  Ack!  Tyler woke up by 3pm but Katelyn I had to wake up.  It's always a delicate situation when we wake her up from her nap.  You never know if she'll oblige or scream bloody murder.  She was somewhere in the middle that day.  We didn't get to the party until close to 3:40 I think!   The party was at this place called Wowzville and they had rented the virtual racing room.  It was maybe a little bit young for the 5 year olds.  At one point everyone's virtual car was on fire in some form!

Pizza!

Here's Tyler and the birthday boy Brayden.

Getting some really cool favors!

Katelyn and Arden!

As soon as the party ended at 5pm, we jumped in the car and headed up to Rowland Heights.  Late AGAIN we were for the 1 month celebration dinner for my friend Shirley's new baby boy Justin.  Good timing though, they hadn't started serving food yet.  It's always a lot of fun with Shirley and the friends we have made through them.  There was (unfortunately) a lot of scotch and whiskey.  Both not my ideal choices of alcohol!  Still it was a fun night!

After dinner a group of us headed over to a YogurtLand down the street.  The kids were so excited for a late night snack! It was already 9-10pm-ish I think!  Their favorite Auntie Mei was also going so they were even more stoked.

See why they love her?

Sunday.  In the morning we gave the kids quick baths (they didn't get one the night before since it was so late when we got home) and then headed up to Arcadia.  We met at a Tapioca Express and had a mini playdate with my friend Sandia and her son Ethan.  They live up here and I couldn't miss this opportunity since we are NEVER up this far!  Plus she had never met Katelyn either.  The boys had a great time playing Battleship and Katelyn was super sweet to Sandia.  It was super cute.  We couldn't stay for too long though...

... since we had lunch plans for my friend Heidi's baby's 100 day celebration!  How cute is Hailey!  This was at Capital Seafood in Arcadia (which, hilariously enough, was the same restaurant in Rowland Heights that we were at last night!).

The kids were well behaved and I even reconnected with an old college friend Michelle!  We spent most of the lunch chatting away about life and kids.  I can see us hanging out in the future.

After lunch we headed back home and the kids both napped.  We barely had any time before we headed down to Aliso Viejo for a playdate at our friend Agnes and Nick's place.  Yes, we are CRAZY!  The kids had a great time though playing with their friends!

Whew, what a crazy weekend.  I promised Will I wouldn't plan anything like that again.  It was just a lot of things that we couldn't turn down.  We'll end with something nice and relaxing and calming.  A photo that Vanessa sent of Katelyn from school.  Katelyn running with a kite around the school yard.  The picture just makes me smile.  I love my KK!

Have a good week!
