Soccer, Beach Day, Disneyland X 2, Trike-a-thon, Leah Visits, and Group Date Night!.. (Week 252-114)

Whew, another fun week to catch up on.  This one is a doozy!

It was Teachers Day at school this week and the kids brought flowers in for the teachers on Monday.  KK picked tulips for her teachers.

Tyler had his last week of Tiny Tots Soccer this week.  Will wasn't feeling well and took a sick day from work (I convinced him that we should squeeze in a mid-day afternoon of Avengers!) and was able to come with me.  It was really cute watching Tyler and Will play some soccer together.  Can't wait until they are playing sports together more, especially tennis and golf.

Since this was the last class, the kids had their own little scrimmage.  It was really cute watching the kids put on jerseys (black v yellow) for the game.  Tyler's team seemed a bit stronger though, since the other team was a lot of girls who were easily distracted.

Here's Tyler and one of his coaches, coach Katelyn!

After picking up Katelyn, we headed down to Newport Beach to hang out with our friends Shirley and Jesse.  They're about to have a baby and had rented a beach house in Balboa so that they would be near Hoag Hospital.  This was Katelyn's first real time at the beach, and she had a great time playing in the sand and getting her feet wet in the ocean.

She was so cute, she'd say "READY??" when the waves were coming up.

Tyler thought it was so fun too.

Look at my sand!

We collected a lot of sandcrabs that day.  A LOT!

Dinner afterward was at the Old Spaghetti Factory.  Can't wait for their little one to be born!  They were supposed to go in the next morning to be induced but due to overcrowding they had to wait a couple more days.

Wednesday I took Tyler to Disneyland.  It was only fair since I had taken Katelyn last week.  What a different trip this was.  It was super cold/windy last week and this week it was HOT!  We got there right before it opened and got on quite a few rides.  LOVE that there's no lines weekday mornings!  We went on Orbiters first, Tyler's first time!

Finding Nemo was next.

A quick Buzz Lightyear ride (no lines!).

Then we did Jedi Training.  Tyler's never done it and always seems hesitant about going up on stage so he doesn't even try to get picked.  This time we talked about it beforehand and he was very excited... except right before and he told me that he'd like to just watch.  Hmph!  Not on my watch!  Good thing it wasn't crowded since almost all the kids got picked, and he had a GREAT time!

Pick me!!

He even got to fight Darth Vader!

I did some really good scoring on Buzz Lightyear, hehe.

Then there was Pirates, walked right on.

Tyler wanted to take a photo posing with all the different guns in the Pirates store.

We almost went on Splash Mountain (no line!) but I decided that I didn't want us to get smelly from the water.  So we went on the Winnie the Pooh ride instead.

Thunder Mountain!

Some photos in front of the Castle!  I had to insist on getting this photo since Tyler didn't want to waste any time.  He wasn't interested in taking any photos with any of the characters, either.

Lunchtime was a ridiculously messy turkey leg.  Tyler doesn't eat much, but he LOVES the Turkey Leg!

The Enchanted Tiki Bird Room was closed that day, but we got some cold Dole drinks to help us cool off.  It was SO hot!

Then we headed over to CA Adventure to go on some rides.  I was getting... t i r e d...

Bug Bumper Cars.

One of his favorite rides is CA Soaring!

Zephyr ride.  Tyler was getting quite tired too, and was grumpy on this ride.

We also went on a Slingshot-style swing ride.  Very interesting, there's a tandem seat for kids under a certain height to ride sitting next to an adult.  I liked having Tyler right next to me.  He didn't want to go on it at first but ended up really enjoying it.

This was a Jumping Jellyfish ride.  Not bad.

By this time Tyler was pretty exhausted.  We were waiting in line for his favorite CA Adventure Ride (Toy Story Mania) and he was starting to fuss.  And I was hot and tired too.  I finally held him in my arms and he totally knocked out as we waited in the long queue.  Quite easily the longest line we waited in all day, I'd say I was carrying his sleeping dead weight for a good half hour.  My energy was rapidly depleting!  As we got to the front of the line, I woke Tyler up and he was rejuvenated.  He was so excited that he insisted that I take a picture of him with his 3D glasses on!

As we started heading out of the park, I grabbed the opportunity to take a photo with Mickey (the line was short).

Jumped on Ariel's Grotto too.

Totally felt like we had done all the rides we wanted to for the day, so we spent some time in the Hollywood Backlot.  There was a nice large room to watch cartoons and it was very air conditioned!

Then we caught a showing of the Disney Jr show.  Tyler was very excited about it, he enjoys the shows on that channel.

Then we watched the Muppet 3D show.  I wasn't really interested in it but I figured I could use some rest in an air conditioned theater.  I fell asleep pretty quick and vaguely remember waking up midway through to see a giant muppet character walking near me (we were in the front row).  I went back to sleep.  I was exhausted!  Haha!

And lastly, we used our Fast Passes to go on CA Soaring one more time.  I was so happy to be heading home, I couldn't believe that we had stayed so long and gone on so many of the rides that Tyler liked.  Tiring!

Here's a montage of video clips from our Disneyland trip.  Tyler had a great time!

Friday was ICDC's Trike-a-thon!  Will and I managed to find the sign I made for this event last year (recycling!).  Here's Tyler and his friends with their signs.

Katelyn's class went first in the morning after the infant class.  She was so cute on her little trike!  There were only a handful of kids in the toddler class that were riding trikes, the rest were being pulled around on a wagon.  She had a great time, even though she was using her feet on the ground instead of the pedals.

At one point, she lost her shoe, yelled out, "uh oh!".  Before I could run over to help, Tyler's little friend Dylan ran over to help her.  So cute!

After a while Katelyn got tired of riding her bike and then joined her friends on the wagon.

Then all the toddler kids got little trophies!  Super cute!

How cute are Katelyn and her friends?

Next up, the big kids on campus - Tyler's Pre-4 class!  They were all focused and speed racers!  I barely got Tyler to look over my way as he raced around and around!

Video of Tyler and Katelyn at the ICDC trike-a-thon:

Tyler was really excited to get his mini trophy.  Kids love trophies!

After the trike-a-thon, I stopped by Nordstroms to pick up a present, and then went to see my friend Shirley at Hoag Hospital.  They just had their baby on Wednesday/Thursday!  It was so cute holding baby Justin!

Whew, this day is still going strong.  In the late afternoon we headed up to Disneyland after Will got off work and met up with the Mutucs who were celebrating Winnie's birthday.  Perfect pairing- Tyler and Dylan are the same age, and Madison and Katelyn are pretty close in age (at least in height for sure!).  How cute are they!

The kids' first time on Alice in Wonderland!

We even went on Dumbo!

Video of Tyler riding Dumbo with ma-ma:

Katelyn was excited to get to hold her feather during the ride.

The kids in front of Small World.

Best place to watch fireworks?  Getting off the Small World ride!

Saturday morning we headed up to my brother's place in Rowland Heights to hang out with them and Kareen's family who were visiting from the Bay Area.  I love any chance to see Katelyn and Leah play together!

Seriously, how cute is KK!?!

Yum, noodles!

The kids kept themselves occupied with various iDevices.

Look how pretty K's hair is!  Tyler had a haircut this morning and Helena (his and Will's stylist) couldn't resist doing Katelyn's hair!  I have much to learn.

My mom and the face cream gift we got her for Mother's Day.

Silly KK. :)

The girls were excited to play with some of their old toys, especially the jumperoo!

Saturday night - Group Date Night with our ICDC friends!  We dropped off the kids at the Sundarams all bathed and in their pajamas.  The kids were so excited to have pizza and play with their friends.  It definitely helped that Vanessa (Tyler's favorite teacher) and Chrystal were babysitting the group of 8 kids!

The adults all met up at Anqi, this fancy restaurant attached to Bloomingdales at South Coast Plaza.  We had a great time celebrating Winnie's birthday!

With the birthday girl Winnie (in the middle) and Lisa!

Group picture!

All the gals!

Will and I!

The next day, Sunday, was Mother's Day!  I'll try not to get into details about the drama from that morning (suffice it to say that a certain individual was not happy about us not planning something way in advanced).  We had an early brunch at Capital Seafood at the Irvine Spectrum.

Then we rode the ferris wheel - Tyler's first time wanting to go on it!

Video of Tyler and Katelyn on the ferris wheel:

Whew, that was a long procrastinated post!  Here's a silly video of Tyler playing with his Legos:
