I had a nice and full week. Tuesday I went to a meeting at my local Chinese school to talk about an after school kindergarten Chinese immersion program. Fingers crossed it'll come to fruition in the Fall! I also had a much needed saketini night with my friend Yoko. LOVE Lychee Saketinis at Tokyo Table! Wednesday I had lunch with my friend Lisa and then headed to Rowland Heights with my friend Amy for a Chinese massage and then eating at Boiling Point for the first time. YUMMY shrimp!
Oh, here are some posters at Tyler's school that they had up. If you look closely, Tyler's answer to "Have you Been to the Dentist?" was "Don't know, but my mom had a cavity". Thanks Tyler for sharing.
This one was in response to their fire station visit. I am not sure what he was trying to draw...
On Thursday, last minute, we headed to Disneyland in the morning with Tyler's friends Dylan (and his mom Winnie) and Elijah (and his mom Lisa and Zachary) to celebrate Dylan's 5th birthday. It was actually still a little bit crowded - must have been the Spring Break kids.
Here's Tyler and Dylan in Tarzan's treehouse. Tyler really liked Thunder Mountain too!
The boys hanging out. We went on Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion too!
We also got to Fast Pass it into Star Tours.
Tyler really liked his no-school school day.
Group picture in front of the castle!
Very excitingly, Tyler got to meet Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates at California Adventures.
Pictures with Mater and Lightning McQueen!
The weekend was quite busy. Saturday morning, amid pouring rain,we headed to Katelyn's ballet class. We didn't put her in her usual tutu since it was so cold and we had a birthday party right after. It worked out great since the birthday party was at the same community center! She really liked the craft they did that day - decorating star wands with foam stickers!
Onward to Dylan's 5th birthday party! Kaden shared his Ninjago toys with Tyler. I really need to get Tyler some of his own. We started (just this week!) a reward chart for good behavior. 20 magnets on his board = a new Ninjago toy!
Dylan, Tyler and Kaden! Oh, did I mention it was St. Patrick's* Day as well? To celebrate there was sangria for the adults. Yum!
K was ready to get down and party. :)
The kids were quite mesmerized with the movie being shown (Monster's Inc).
This balloon met a sad fate just a little bit later.
Going...
going...
gone! K didn't like the balloon popping on her, and hitting her lip. She cried sadly.
The kids also played musical chairs! K had no idea how to play, it was her first time. You can't blame a 2 year old for cheating!
By the end of the game, there were 4 big boys left, and only 1 chair left (not sure how that happened). The boys were dancing around the one chair with the music on and K decided to wander in and sit down. It was HILARIOUS! The boys didn't even mind and KK enjoyed the dancing circling here. I guess its useful to be super cute! :)
The kids dancing more afterward too.
Here are some pictures of the kids with Sutton (who used to go to ICDC). Katelyn's gangster pose is hilarious!
Birthday cake time!
Uncle Dave needed to make sure to keep Katelyn away from Dylan's birthday candles.
We gave her some strawberries instead of cake. She was not amused. I gave in and let her have a tiny little bit and told her the filling/icing was spicy. Bad mommy!
K kept herself amused watching the iPhone. She thought it was silly and funny.
Still so much rain!
After naps, we headed to West Covina for our friend Jesse's birthday party. We always have a great time at their parties and this time it was at their new house! There are always other young kids there as well and it was the first time that Katelyn and Tyler totally kept themselves busy and preoccupied. They were such good kids!
The kids also made a new BFF that day - Mei! They even had a tea party with her.
And played cards with her too!
K had a ton of fun toys to play with.
...and Tyler even got in some Monopoly Deals card game action (a very confusing game).
We brought a giant bottle of Seagrams Sweet Tea Vodka with a few bottles of Trader Joe's Organic Tea Lemonade. All empty by the end of the night! This was the only photo I took with Shirley/Jesse and it came out so blurry! Shirley is super pregnant and due in May!
Saturday was a LATE night. Sunday morning we made it to Celia's 5th birthday party. Tyler was really excited - Kids Imagine Nation was going to be there! I was very excited about the delicious home made chili- it was perfect for how I was feeling.
Tyler was SO into the performance. He was crazily participating and so was KK!
Group photo!
Tyler was a total groupie, and stuck by the band when all the kids went to get cupcakes.
Theresa (Celia's mom) was SO considerate. She knows of Katelyn's allergies and had stocked the fridge with food that was safe for K. She had jello for KK in lieu of cupcakes too! K was very excited about her jello cup!
Here's KK getting her poster autographed!
After naps on Sunday (and after getting my toe checked out by the orthopedic surgeon), we headed over to the grandparents home for dinner. Tyler was very excited to help make green onion pancakes. They turned out SO delicious!!
Here's the little one that Tyler made all by himself. He said it was quite yummy. :)
Katelyn has been a CRAZY handful lately. She is completely and totally testing her limits. Everything is a "No!" response. It's driving me nuts. I hope its just this age and it'll pass soon. We've had to be really strict with her to really let her know her boundaries. Frustrating. Tyler, on the other hand, has been super sensitive. His feelings are hurt so easily! When a friend at school tells him that he doesn't want to be his friend? He'll get sad and cry off to the side. WAH! When we scold him about not being nice to Katelyn? He runs off and cries. Wahh! (Those Wahh!'s are me being sad not him by the way). He is such a sweet kid, not a mean bone in his body! He has such good intentions and gets so upset when others wrong him. I can't protect him forever!
