Katelyn's Dr Appt, Date Night and Birthday Parties! (Week 243/105)

Katelyn had her 2 year checkup this week on Tuesday!  It was a bit odd, being that it was my first wellness check that I took Katelyn alone to.  Before either Will or our nanny came with us.  Big steps for everyone! :)  She happened to have really cute hair that day at school today too. When Dr. Galang asked if mommy did her hair, she said, "No, Ingrid!".  Ingrid was the teacher that did her hair.  She does it so well!

Katelyn was SUCH a big girl!  Waaah!  She's 34 3/4 inches, at ~70%.  I really had expected her height % to be much higher since she seems to tower over her friends.  Her weight was 30 pounds - at 90% (unsurprisingly).

While we waited for the doctor, we read some books.  They had given me an autism checklist and it was quite obvious that we didn't have anything to worry about for our little KK.

Here's a cute short little video of Katelyn reading her book.

And another cute video of KK pretending to use her Epi pen.  This was right after the doctor had showed us how to use the practice Epi Pen.  At least she'll be prepared!  I, on the other hand, hope to never have to use the pen on her.  Katelyn was quite a trooper for her shot too, she looked more surprised and upset and didn't even cry a peep!

Back at home, I loved her hairstyle!

Thursday night we met up with the Fongs and the Propochuks for dinner at Boiling Point right here in Irvine.  It was quite yummy!

Friday I took a long and HOT hike with my friend Lisa.  It was fun and calorie burning!

Friday night Will and I had a date night with our friends the Garners.  Katelyn and Tyler had a fun time with their babysitter Vanessa over at the Garners' house.  Destination?  Five Crowns - my favorite prime rib place! YUM!  It was a night of good food and good conversation.

This is what we came home to - Tyler and Kaden playing in the Garners' bed! Haha!  Katelyn had fallen asleep next to Vanessa on the couch.  Cutie pies!

Saturday was Katelyn's 2nd ballet class.  She was ready to go, and was excited to see her tutu dress.

Here's a short video of Katelyn doing some ballerina twirls!

After Katelyn's ballet class, we headed up to Chino Hills.  Man, it was quite warm there!  Our college friends Ruby/Howard were having a 1st birthday party for their adorable little girl Emma.   The kids were happy to play in the park where the party was held.

Balloon flower for Katelyn!

Katelyn watched a few kids get their face painted and then got really excited to see an older girl get a Hello Kitty on her face.  I couldn't believe that Katelyn would sit there for so long and not move, but she did!  It was so cute! - she closed her eyes when they asked her to and was such a good listener!

Finished product!  We've never been a big fan of face painting, but Katelyn was such a cute Hello Kitty!

Meanwhile, Tyler made friends with a little dog named Bolt.  He watched the dog from a distance for a while and gradually they got used to each other until Tyler started petting him.  He loved playing with this dog!  If I didn't know how much work pets were (MOJO!!) I might even think about us getting a dog.  Haha!  Yeah right!  Maybe a guinea pig when the kids are older.  They have a much shorter life span.

Balloon sword!

Katelyn checked out the other face painting ideas and pointed at a monster face and said "scary...".

Cake pop!  Even though she can't eat it.

Tyler's new BFF.

Giving the birthday girl Emma a birthday hug!

Tyler was still watching the dog seriously.

More playing at the park!  It was quite hot and draining. The kids didn't seem to mind at all.

Before heading home from the party, we wiped Katelyn's Hello Kitty off her face.  She thought we were just wiping some dirt off but then she realized we were wiping off the Hello Kitty face.  She did not like that, and kept saying, "No! My hello kitty!!".  I had heard that the face paint would be harder to get off later, so I really wanted to get it off before they napped.  Back at home, Will took a nap and I took the kids (after their nap) to watch Tyler's friends play T-ball at our local park.  Walking distance!  The kids had fun watching and playing in the park afterward.

For dinner we all headed to a local Pho place with the Saitos and Mutucs.  It was Robb's birthday so we picked up a cake as well.  We let Katelyn have a little tiny bit of cake and she was SOOO excited.  Here she is showing us her cake - I figure we can be a little more lenient with her as she gets older.  Cautious of course, but once in a while let her have a little break.

Will was like the Pied Piper with the kids.  They love playing with him!

Sunday morning the boys went to get a haircut and Katelyn/I joined them.  Katelyn even got a quick trim as well.  She is SO different from what I remember from Tyler.  We used to have to bribe Tyler with snacks and the iPhone to get him to sit still.  Not at all with Katelyn.  She sat there and said "pretty!".

Here's a short little video of Katelyn so patiently getting her haircut!

After the haircut, we headed to the local library at Heritage Park to do some book reading.  The kids loved it!

We even got to check out some books for the kids.  Tyler was very excited about his Star Wars little books.  It really encourages his reading!

After the library we took some time to feed the ducks at the park. They were quite brave!

Sunday afternoon we headed to another birthday party - Jack's 5th birthday party!  The kids both had a great time at the party, especially the bounce house!

Katelyn LOVES swings!

Katelyn and Tyler even got some whacks into the football pinata!

Katelyn saw a hello kitty boombox and was really excited to play with it.

Arts and crafts too!

Whew, that was quite a post.  Almost caught up now!
