Post Halloween Festivities!... (Week 226/88)

Happy Post Halloween!  I have a hard time believing that it is November already.  Thanksgiving is just around the corner and then Christmas.  I can't wait to put up our Christmas tree!  We had so much fun for Halloween (Katelyn still points at anything Halloween-like, such as Skulls, pumpkins, etc, and excitedly says "Halloween!!") and seeing how much Katelyn enjoyed it.  I can't wait to see her get into Christmas!

This  coming up weekend (Sunday to be exact) is Will and my 7 year wedding anniversary.  We're kind of silly in that we celebrate both 11/13 each year as well as 9/18.  9/18 was the day we met in 1998 and pretty much got together the next day.  It was also supposed to be the date of our wedding, but... We were supposed to head up to the Bay Area to visit my sister this weekend (with the kids of course) but ended up canceling last minute.  I had finally gotten over my 2 week cold and Kareen&Co had just gotten back from a week long Hawaii vacation.  We were all pretty tired and just figured we'd find another weekend.  Good thing too, since Katelyn caught some sort of stomach flu on Thursday (11/10) that involved some vomiting.  The weird thing was that she never cried when she threw up.  She'd just play, throw up, and go right back to playing!  No fever, no listlessness or anything.  She didn't have much of an appetite though.  Anyway, that night she slept 14 hrs.  I kid you not.  I actually had to semi-wake her up (open the door to her room) at 11am the next morning since we really needed to get Tyler to school.  She was totally fine!  ...until her class went down for nap at noon - which she was really not happy about (heck, I wouldn't be either after just waking up an hr ago from sleeping 14 hrs!).  Apparently also she didn't "engage" and play like she usually does and the teachers were concerned.  Concerned enough that the director called and left a message that we needed to pick her up.  Annoyed I was.  Really?  She did seem more quiet definitely and not her usual self, but I still didn't think it was necessary to send her home.  We're paying good $$!  Ok, enough of my vent.

Katelyn has gotten much better with her oral hygiene.  Before she would just suck on her toddler toothpaste for the flavor, but now she allows Will to do some good flossing and brushing.  I love it!  I don't remember when Tyler made the mental switch to allow us to brush his teeth (I remember, um, pinning him flat down on the ground to get some brushings in!) but it seemed later than 1 1/2 years.  She continues to amaze me.  This morning I was trying to get her to a bib and she kept shaking her head and saying "idonwanit".  Sorry, what was that Katelyn?  "idonnnnwannnit".  o m g.  I think she's saying "I don't want it" while she shakes her head.  What!  And then at my mom's house she stood up on her chair and said "poopoo!!" and pointed at her diaper.  I checked and there was nothing there.  I told her there was no poopoo and she was silly.  But she was adamant and I thought she was very confused.  Then a couple minutes later she did it again, and I checked again just for the sake of checking, and... SHE HAD POOP!  Ok, quite a silly story but you'd totally understand if you were a parent.  She was telling me that she needed to poop and I totally brushed her off!  Bad Mom!  These days her words are all things like "I try", and "I see?" and "I do" and (the most annoying) "ALL MINE!"

Oh, it rained last weekend and I think it's supposed to rain again this weekend.  Love Tyler's Pikachu umbrella.  Poor Katelyn always wants to hold it herself.  What a lovely smile you have Katelyn...

Saturday night we headed to our friends, the Garners, Post-Halloween party.  Yay!  One last Halloween hurrah!  Tyler was a Jedi this time and Katelyn wore this old Jedi cloak that I found in Tyler's closet.  It was for when Tyler was her age!  Tyler's costume was much more impressive this year though.  Plus he had this awesome light saber that Will got at Costco (which I think is just as much fun for Will as it is for Tyler!).

The party was just down the street here in Irvine and we had a really good time.  I love that the kids are all at an age where you can just let them play, and they need minimal supervision.  Of course, some children need some adult oversight since they tend to be more rough, but I try to keep an eye on Tyler to make sure he doesn't get on the receiving end of this roughness.  Katelyn loved playing with all the kids too.  After a while she wanted out of her Jedi costume and I popped her into the ladybug costume I had brought as backup.  How well prepared am I?

Out of these 4 girls Katelyn is 1 1/2, 2 of them are about to turn 3 and one of them is 2 1/2.  Katelyn can totally hang with the big girls!

The kids were watching movies after dinner while the adults hung out.  Tyler is very sensitive to (all) movies and was very concerned about a few scenes in Cars 2.

And lastly here's a group picture from the end of the night.  It was quite a party and we didn't head home until past 10pm.  That's amazing for us since we had the kids with us.  We decided to give them baths anyway since they were quite dirty feeling and they went to bed fine.

The next morning Tyler was still excitedly talking about the fun Halloween party.  My cold was still pretty full blown so Will took the kids over to his parents place for lunch.  Katelyn fell asleep on the way over (it's a whole 5 minute drive!) and she napped in her little bouncer over there.

Ending with a video of Katelyn making funny faces to herself.  Nothing too spectacular about this video except that I didn't want to lose it in our mass of media.  She is so wonderful!
