On one of the days that I picked up Tyler last week, he was very proud of this Lego vehicle that he had made. He loves his Legos and is always bummed that his creation will be taken apart at the end of the day. We took a picture so we could show Will. Then his friends got in the picture with him as well! I don't really know the kid on the left (Albert?) but I hear he's quite naughty. Dylan, on the left, is a really sweet kid and part of our play group. His dad was telling me the other day that Tyler can carry on the most detailed conversations with him - which isn't too surprising, Tyler is quite the talker. He's very good at expressing his feelings with words.
On Friday I had a nice spa night out with my girlfriends - a late celebration for my birthday. Burke Williams had a special going on at their location at The Block so we all went and got massages or facials. First we did happy hour at El Torito though. It was good hanging out, and my friend Melissa joined us from San Diego.
Saturday was the annual Irvine Global Village Festival. We got there first thing in the morning with the kids and BOY was it a hot day. They have tons of booths ranging from different cultural associations to kid activities to restaurants. Tyler was excited about his "finger pens" and also going on the inflatables.
This inflatable slide was a little too steep for Tyler - you can see he's not too happy about going down. He only went on it once!
Katelyn fell asleep about halfway through the morning. I tried to wake her up but she was really out - and we were concerned since I needed her to nap later on after lunch since we had a birthday party to go to in the afternoon. She was really cute though, she was in her stroller just fussing and whining before she knocked out. See how much we're still in the honeymoon phase with her? Even her fussing and whining I think is adorable!
Tyler tried something new that day - the Hamster Ball! He was really excited to try it but then a little more shy when it was his turn. I was proud of him that he finally decided to get into the ball. He had a great time!

There was also a booth for Tyler's Taekwondo school (ATA Irvine) and 2 of his teachers were there. Here he is with Miss Nicole. She was quite instrumental in the beginning when Tyler was just starting out - she'd take him off to the side and do his form with him since he was too shy to join the rest of the group. Even now when he has his days of dragging his feet in the beginning of class, she'll come over and talk to him and get him to join the group.
Tyler and Kaden did some drills together also - pushups, and punching! Tyler even got to break a board with his fist - it took him 3 trys though (Kaden did it the first time without much effort!).
Here's Tyler with Mr. Ben - one of the other instructors.
Afterward we all had lunch and listened to some music. Katelyn finally woke up too.
We headed home afterward and the put the kids down for naps (Katelyn took a while to go down though). We ended up having to wake up Tyler so that we wouldn't be too late for the birthday party at Zoomar's Petting Zoo in San Juan Capistrano. The place was SO crowded! We had tickets to feed the rabbits and guinea pigs but they looked like they were too stuffed and full to even move. It seemed like they were annoyed with the kids shoving carrot sticks in their faces, haha!
Video of Katelyn and Tyler feeding very full animals:
Here's Tyler with the birthday girl Catherine. They were in the same class in the Toddler room, Pre-1 and Pre-2. This year Tyler is in Pre-4 and Catherine is in Pre-3, so they don't get to hang out as much.
Train ride! I was nervous since Katelyn was going on the ride by herself. I guess I shouldn't have been concerned - she is so independent. She's sitting with her friend Kylee who is 10 months older and smaller/lighter than her. Tyler and Kaden were very excited to be sitting in the front of the train.
Tyler even helped Katelyn unbuckle her seat belt when the ride ended. What a helpful big brother.
Next was mining for treasure. We split a bag with Kaden and the boys were very excited to shift their dirt. Tyler found a piece of "gold" and even some "rubies". Oooooh. Katelyn got to do some shifting of her own, but she was more interested in just playing with the water, which was super muddy and brown. Tyler said it looked like chocolate milk!
Then the kids played in the playground for a while.
Check out Tyler the photographer! He's pretty good at framing the pictures and getting things in focus now. Here he is taking Kaden's picture, and the next one is the picture that he actually took!
Katelyn loves the Garners - Stace and Jen. She's not too forward with just sitting on anyone's lap, but she especially has taken a liking to Stace!
Katelyn and Kylee! We used to get Kylee's hand me downs, but now that Katelyn is the same size... not so much. Darn!
After the birthday party, we all had dinner together at a local Mexican restaurant. Quite yummy! Here are the kids after dinner.
I took this picture of Katelyn pretending to do Kumon that night. The cowboy hat was part of the favor from the birthday party. Katelyn likes to sit at the little table with her pencil and Kumon sheets (Tyler's old ones). She'll make a couple marks, look at me and say "Ta-dah!". She is such a copycat of Tyler! I sent it to my mom and sister and apparently they both thought she was actually doing Kumon. I even heard my dad going on in the background about how she was too young to be doing this already! I had to explain that she was just pretending! Haha, can you imagine though, a 1 year old counting to 37?
I know it's not Easter but these bunny ears popped out from somewhere and Katelyn was just so girly in them. Her hair is getting lighter and lighter - very strange. The ends in the back are almost a light brownish gold. My dad actually thought that I had highlighted or dyed her hair.
Video of Tyler and Katelyn freeze dancing. Love this video!

I found this picture that Tyler had drawn a couple weeks ago. He's starting to be more expressive in his pictures. This was a mouse, with cheese, and clouds, next to a railroad with a train, and of course, a TV.
I had to take Katelyn to the doctor this week since she had pinkeye. I wasn't too sold when the school told me she had it, but apparently she had green goop in her eyes. I took her Thursday morning to Open Hours, hoping the doctor would tell me she was fine, but no such luck. Good thing I went though, because I had them check out this cut on the back of her foot that had developed from a blister from her shoe. It was quite infected and we got some topical and oral antibiotics for it (as well as eye drops for the pinkeye). The 3 prescriptions cost me $30 at Ralphs but I had a coupon for $25 per new prescription and got $75! Sweet! It also gave me a reason to buy these comfy looking boots I had been eye-ing at Target but was too cheap to buy since they were $22. But she needed comfortable shoes that wouldn't put too much pressure on her wound! How cute are they??
Here's a Video of Tyler and Katelyn dancing. They love to dance!
It was also Picture Day on Wednesday at school. How CUTE is Katelyn here? I had one of her teachers do her hair (Ingrid, and she is SO good with little girl hair!) and it made such a big difference. Too bad by the end of the day her little pink tights already had holes...
Tyler is so cute too! It was raining that day and I loved the pose he struck with his Pikachu umbrella. I heard from the teachers that Katelyn was quite serious in her photos though, darn. We took a few more of the kids that evening.
Video of Katelyn eating raspberries. It was adorable to watch her put each raspberry on her finger before she ate them!:
She was also playing "pretend" with Tyler. Tyler'd ask for something and she'd pretend to get it at the window and then give it to him.

Have a good week everyone!
