Tyler's 2nd dentist appointment! (74 weeks)

Hi everyone! Can you believe it's already December? Christmas is just around the corner! I am excited to get a Christmas tree this weekend when Kareen comes down to visit. Will thinks that Christmas trees will get cheaper the closer we get to Christmas - anyone know if that's true or not? I LOVE Christmas! Still trying to figure out when we're going to get Tyler to see Santa this year. Last year he was still so young and easy to bring around, this time we'll have to think of something easier.

This week's highlight was a visit to a local park. This is Irvine, so we have a ridiculous amount of nice parks for Tyler to run around in. It was quite chilly though, so we didn't stay as long as Tyler would have liked. This park is also walking distance, and has tennis courts and a large grassy lawn as well. I'm a big fan of parks that have two different playgrounds for young and older kids. Unfortunately, Tyler ALWAYS wants to go to the big kid one!
Tyler is getting so much better at his motor skills. He really thinks he can do anything. Here's a few shots of him climbing a little plastic mountain. The big kid playground actually had those little steps that you use when you go rock climbing!Whoohoo, at the top! When Tyler saw the bee on the right, he made his little bee movement that he always does. He puts his hands together and moves them around, the way they do it at school when they sing 'I caught myself a baby bumblebee...' He's getting much better at animal sounds, and even better at following directions! I'm sure one day soon I'll stop being so excited/proud when he understands and follows my directions! :)Tyler loves running. He'll crack up when he runs too. He started putting his hand over his mouth when he's laughing, and he'll bend over too. It's so funny - like seriously, is EVERYTHING really that funny? He'll play peekaboo with us (minus the peeking part) and he cracks himself up at that too.
I don't think Tyler has ever liked swings. Ever. He always seems very cautious and nervous on them... and wants to get out pretty quick. Although, I did get on one of those tire swings the other day and he seemed fine to sit on me for a bit...oh well, we'll keep trying!
Can you tell we didn't do much this past week so this post is mostly pictures from the park? hehe. Here's the obligatory slide picture. He doesn't even wait for us to push him down or anything, and he's always wanting to go down bigger and steeper slides! We are at another park this weekend and Will and Tyler were at the top of this really really tall slide. I was like, uh, no I don't think so, but Tyler just went! I heard a lady standing next to me say 'oh my God' as Tyler came down. Eeesh. He was fine, came down laughing, but I told Will no more!
Wow, a bubble that you can actually see through! Usually these bubbles are all scratched up or dirty. This park actually sits right next to a row of houses (their backyards) and there are gates leading to it from the houses. How cool would that be to have such a fancy park connected to your backyard!
Yay, this week I got to meet up with a bunch of my girlfriends again. We had FUN and I'm totally looking forward to hanging out again soon.
Will and I checked out this new Korean Supermarket H-Mart this weekend. Tyler LOVED the fish they had. He was so excited... except for the dead one floating around..
Here's a video of Tyler getting super excited about the fish.

I just had to add this shot in because I was really impressed with all the different side dishes they offered. Yum!
Tyler had his second dentist appointment this week as well. We were not looking forward to it, specifically because Tyler HATES brushing his teeth (and we're horrible at enforcing him). It wasn't too bad though, Tyler got his teeth cleaned with one of those little polish things. The dentist even told us how to brush Tyler's teeth... lay Tyler down on the floor between your legs and put his arms under each one of your legs. It works! Tyler is super strong, but in this position he has, like, no shoulder strength. Hopefully we won't have to resort to that...too much! Here's Tyler watching Dora on the ceiling at the dentist.
They had this awesome toy in the waiting room. It's a new office so all the toys and books are so nice and clean! I love it! I tried to persuade Will that we should buy it at Target (it's by Parents, their Busy Street/Zoo Activity Center or something) but I wasn't successful. Aww.
Oh, and lastly, Will's work had their Winter Open House where the family of the employees at their site were invited in for games, snacks, etc. It was nice to see where Will works and meet some more of his coworkers. They had a lot of food and activities in the cafeteria, but it was so crowded that we didn't stay for long. Here's Tyler working in daddy's office! I must say, Will's office sure seemed to be a lot larger than mine!
Oh, one funny thing I wanted to share. Tyler does the 'shhh' action now, but he does it incorrectly. Instead of putting his finger in front of his lips, he sticks it up his nose. Ok, kind of gross - but funny!

We've been experimenting with moving Tyler to only one nap on the weekends (like they do in school). Here's a video of Tyler falling asleep during lunch. hehee.

We got (on Netflix) a Sesame Street video with lots of songs. Here's a clip of Tyler listening to the 'The Ants go Marching' song. He watched so intently, and then when Will asked him to march, he marched! (See, here's me being surprised again that he understands!)

Have a good week everyone!

Look, a comment!! Hey we have a new H-mart too!! Tyler reminds me a lot of pictures of you and Kareen when you were babies... don't buy those big freaking huge toys. It ends up in somebody else's house... ie incrediblock. =)!
