Starting off our quick and short 4 week summer break. I enrolled Katelyn in Karis Academy to learn Chinese. I wanted her in the 5-7 year old program but the teacher thought we should start her off in the preschool 3-5 group. OK, let's see how it goes!
Tyler meanwhile attended his first Vacation Bible School (VBS) at a local church with his buddy Jordan. He was really excited to learn about God!
First day of fun!
Did another lagoon playdate with our friends this week. Many thanks to my lovely friend M to let us borrow her pass. A few of Katelyn's friends had never been to the awesome lagoon in Woodbridge! The gals had a great time. The older boys came later.
Got a large box (I forget what I ordered) in the mail this week. Instead of throwing it away, the kids seemed to enjoy playing in it so much that I carved it into a mini castle! Who knew it would be so fun!
One of Katelyn's little friends had a lemonade stand at their home this week. We stopped by real quick before heading to swim practice. It was hot.
Katelyn had her first ever Waterworks swim lesson! She's been asking and asking and I feel so guilty for not being on top of things. She did GREAT! No problems putting her face into the water or anything and she loved every moment of it!

Katelyn's ticket chart at her Chinese school. The kids earn tickets for good behavior. Can you guess which row is hers? I noticed that some of the other students were really young (like 3) and not so well behaved. I didn't like that it definitely seemed to take away from Katelyn's learning experience.
Mojo loves our new couch set and pillows! He blends right in.
Fourth of July weekend. I pushed the family to get out and about this morning. We started out with breakfast at Brueggers before heading out for a mini hike at Peter's Canyon. Usually I like to go really early before it gets hot but we weren't so successful this morning with two kids in tow. And BOY was it hot.
Tyler was a great sport and he tried his best to keep up with me. Katelyn, on the other hand, started complaining almost the moment we started, haha. She took her time with Will.
After showers and naps, we headed over to my friend M's house to celebrate the 4th! I'm so glad we were able to stop by and have some adult drinks (Tennessee honey whiskey? Um yes please!) before we headed to another friend's house with the kids' friends.
Quail Hill was our next stop to my friend Joy's house. The kids were really excited about Uncle Anselm's selection of fireworks. They started with cherry bombs and then graduated to sparklers.

Ooh yum mango!
The get together ended around 8ish and I realized we had enough time to head back to M's place to watch fireworks. She has an amazing view of her community's awesome firework show on her driveway. The kids LOVED it!
Our next day was pretty busy too. I've been talking about taking the kids to see tidepools forever and we left early in the morning to Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach. It's the same beach we took our family photos last year! The kids were really excited to see the tidepools, and even the crazy tower next to the hill that used to lead up to houses. Katelyn was a little scared of the water coming up to her though.
We stayed for a bit while the kids built sand castles and caught sand crabs.
Some friends joined us WAY later, when we were about to leave. We chilled with them for a bit before heading out. I can only handle the beach for so long!
Next we met up with my friend Evie and her family. Tyler and her son Aiden became good friends last year in the same class. He's such a sweet kid! From their house we headed to the Woodbury main pool where the dads and kids played in the water while Evie and I hung out.
Sunday! My parents came over in the morning with my niece and nephew who were visiting from Texas. More pool fun! We went to our local pool down the street and the kids all had a great time.

My brother's family and my inlaws also came over for dinner and we all celebrated Tyler's 7th birthday a little early. Love the ease of having family get togethers!

That night Will needed to do some computer building and the kids were excited to learn some techy stuff with dad. We got to start them early!
