Kids Run the OC Marathon!.. (Week 355/217)

WOW it's hot this week.  So hot that I felt compelled to get the kids popsicles after school.

Pool playdate after school too!

Jordan came over for a playdate on Wednesday.  They were so imaginative playing with the Legos!

Basketball practice for Tyler and Kobi also.

KK snuck in a couple swings at Tyler's golf class on Thursday.  She really likes it!  But I'm assuming it's one of those instances where it has to be her idea.  Once I start pushing her to do it she'll totally fight back I'm sure!

Had some time to kill after golf and before ballet so we hydrated at Starbucks.  The kids got their Kumon done too!

Dinner at one of Katelyn's old ICDC friend Ava's new home on Friday.  So good to see her with old friends!

Saturday - Kids Run the OC Marathon!  Lina came over with Aaron and Will drove us out to the OC Fairgrounds.  Glad we decided to have Will/KK come with us last minute because driving to crowded unfamiliar places is NOT my thing.  It was hot!  The boys ran at their scheduled time but I think they ran a lot slower than they usually did because of the weather and the unfamiliar course.  Still proud of them though!

Saw some mommy friends who chose to run earlier so they could leave earlier and avoid the heat.

Stretching before their run!

It was so hot we poured water on their heads before they had to go wait at the starting line.  They loved it!

So basically Tyler's been running a mile every Friday after school with the Mustang Milers running group at his elementary school.  We're supposed to run a mile on our own each week too, to make it ~25 mile we run up until the marathon.  The marathon is then the last mile for the kids to run 26 miles (a marathon's length)!  The event is super well organized and I think we'll definitely do it again next year.  We told the boys to pace themselves but I think they may have overpaced themselves!

Sunday, to celebrate my friend Connie finishing her half Marathon, we headed over to her house in the afternoon for dinner and lots of bloody maries.  YUM.  The kids had a good time too!
