Playdates and a Phoot Shoot!.. (Week 303/165)

Happy May!

The week started off with an early day for Tyler's kindergarten class since they had a field trip that morning.  To the centennial farm!  Getting him to school at 8am - tough!  Can't imagine doing it every day once he starts first grade!  Here are some photos the teacher posted of the trip:

After we picked up the boys from school, we headed to Cypress Village park for a lunch playdate. Perfectly planned since two of us had our girls get out of class there at noon.  Except for a surprise visitor (blah, so over the drama) it was a lot of fun.  Here's Tyler and his friend Nevan posing with light sabers - yes, in the bathroom.  Haha!

Made sure to head home not too late so we could get the kids down for naps.  Later that afternoon we were meeting a photographer for a family photo shoot!  This isn't our typical yearly photo shoot - we wait until later in the year for that.  This was a groupon deal I had found with a photographer I had met randomly before while we were at jury duty.  Totally random, but how can you beat 20 images on a CD for $69?  I would have spent easily that much taking Katelyn to Target to get photos done for her (very belated, yikes!) 3 year photos.  We met the photographer (Drew Dailey) at William Mason Regional Park.  Beautiful park.  Spring is in the air, we saw goslings and ducklings!  SOOOOOO cute, I could barely stop squealing.

Look how close the geese came!  We hung out after the shoot and just fed them.  Very nice relaxing afternoon.

After we went down the street to have dinner at Class 302, a little Taiwanese place.  Dinner was OK but the dessert was ridiculous.  Shaved Strawberry Cream ice, with the toppings inside.  S.O.O.O.O. delicious.

Hope the pictures come out well, should hopefully be getting the CD next week.  Like my new hat?  Katelyn does!

Tuesday we were back to swim at Waterworks.  Tyler surprised me by actually swimming!  He even was working on his backstroke (that's him to the right of his teacher).  I'm amazed because this means he's actually floating and not sinking.

Video of Tyler doing his backstroke:

Tuesday I volunteered again and got to see their baby chicks one last time before they went back to the farm.  How cute and fluffy are they?

Dinner was baked salmon that Tyler LOVED again.  Yay!

And Wednesday was brussel sprouts!  I forget what else we ate with it, but I was very excited to make these.  They came out really yummy.

Thursday is my day with some actual time to myself!  Met up with old Boeing friend Melissa for lunch at Tender Greens at the Spectrum.  Really yummy but quite pricey for salad.

After picking up Tyler from Jordan's house we went to get Katelyn at ICDC.  It was REALLY hot that day and they had water play.  She managed to squeeze into a spare swimsuit, but just barely.  She told me that it kept getting stuck in her butt.  Haha.  When I first saw her I was blinded by her whiteness.  Girl needs a tan!

Ballet class!  Need to work with her on her choreography for their June 9th recital!  Tickets cost $27 a pop. Ridiculous!

Two videos of KK practicing her ballet recital:

After ballet class we all headed over to watch Kaden's baseball game.  It's really nice to watch, except that the parents get really tense.  Makes me kind of glad that Tyler's not involved.  I wonder if it's just baseball, because watching Tyler play soccer is quite enjoyable and not stressful.  The kids were happy to play at the park next to the field.

Friday I was got into a strange cleaning fury in the backyard.  It's just become such a mess over the colder winter months since we're not out there.  Think major work.  Weeds all over and debris all over the turf.  I got sick of the vines growing on the walls since they cause so much debris.  After a delicious All-You-Can-Eat-BBQ dinner I was able to convince Will (whoohoo!) that the vines needed to go.  We spent the rest of the daylight on Friday in the yard cleaning.  Hard labor, I'm telling you.  The kids hung out and shot water from their water guns.  I filled a couple buckets for them to use and they cooled off that way too.

Saturday morning we slept in (even though I wanted to get a jump start on the yardwork!) and then headed to Northwood Park for a playdate with Tyler's old friends Brock and Zane.  Thank goodness it had cooled off from the ridiculous heat that was Thursday and Friday.  The kids had a great time!

These boys have birthdays all within a couple days of each other, and were BFFs at ICDC!  Zane (the tall kid) and Tyler especially.  Katelyn loved Brock!

Sunday morning I headed over to my dear friend Jen's place in the morning for her mother's wake.  Got there early (930am) to help her get the place ready for the wake that started at 11am.  Bumped into Tyler's first Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Vose as she was leaving (she tutors Kaden).  It was great to see her!

Here are a couple pictures from the wake.  Even though it was a wake, having those hours without the kids (930am-2pm!) was like a vacation to me.  After the crazy crazy stressful week I had, I really needed that time away.  Seriously, I was on the brink of a mental breakdown!  Came back feeling relaxed and refreshed.  Whew.

Will had taken the kids to see his parents while I was out.  Then we ended the night with some nice yummy homemade shaved ice.  Yum!  Please excuse the crazy amount of clips in Katelyn's hair.
