Getting close to Summer here, only 5 more weeks of school left for Tyler! Yikes!
Monday started off with Chinese school for Katelyn. Even though her new buddy Rykyn is out of town for 3 weeks (!!) Katelyn started playing with another girl in the class (Ava) who has always been really quiet. Watching her make new friends is a relief since she has a big school change coming up. It was hot that day! They flew paper airplanes in class.
And learned a new Chinese song!
Monday night my friend Lara came down to visit. We go way back from when I first started back at Boeing. She's moving to Seattle next week, I'm going to miss her! We met up with a couple other friends for HH at BJs. Good times as usual!
Tuesday - more swimming for Tyler! Need to get him to kick better if he's going to make it all the way across the pool when his swim team starts!
Video of Tyler practicing the freestyle:
I volunteered again on Tuesday and my rotation with the kids was pretty easy - watering their turnip plants and computer time. Hmm. I think I'm looking forward to 1st grade starting...
Playdate after school with Jordan!
Just a few weeks left at ICDC for Katelyn. I snapped a picture of Katelyn and her bff's at pickup. Waaaah!
Some late coming Mother's Day photos with the kids!
On Wednesday I met up for lunch at the Spectrum with my friend Amy and her daughters. Her older daughter Kaitlyn is turning 5 at the end of the year and Katelyn is almost her height!
Totally last minute, a Disneyland visit Wednesday afternoon with Tyler and one of his friends. We rarely go in the afternoon (I like going when they first open!) but Tyler and Nevan had been talking amongst themselves and planned this trip together themselves! I was very reluctant, especially it was so hot that day. But Tyler was on ridiculously great behavior and did all his Kumon and piano without any fussing at all. Will came home a bit early while Katelyn was napping and off Tyler and I went. I'm such a push over. The timing worked out perfectly when we were waiting for the tram as the same time as Nevan and his family were. Sweet! The kids had a great time.
Video of Tyler on the tire zipline again (he loves this):
How cute are they?
Thursday I had to head down to Newport to get my lashes filled. Not sure how long this'll last. It's quite an effort! Friday I met up with my friend Connie for a pedicure appointment. Mine took forever and we ended up not able to grab lunch. Boo. Totally bad hair picture below for me. Blech!
Katelyn was hula hooping at Chinese school, haha!
Video of KK attempting to hula-hoop:
Love that Katelyn is totally into writing letters now. Even at home, while I was cleaning, she wanted to write her letters instead of watch TV! Wonder how long that'll last...
Friday afternoon we had a nice family night. Headed to the Spectrum to pick up birthday presents for the weekend and had dinner at Kabuki. Cheers to happy hour menus!
The Spectrum is so bustling! The kids enjoyed the carousel.
Saturday lunch we met up with Will's parents for lunch at Tang190. I really like that place for some reason. Bumped into Will's parents' neighbors there. They have a little girl who's almost 2 or almost 3. When we got up to leave the little girl pointed at Katelyn and cried because she was leaving. Awww!
That afternoon we headed to Katelyn's friend Kayla's 3rd birthday at their house. They enjoyed cookie decorating, bubbles and a bounce house!
Then pinata time! This pinata was ridiculously hard to break open. And turned out there was only candy in it's head! So all the banging by the kids on the bottom yielded nothing.
Why does Katelyn look so huge here?
After the party, we headed over to the Garners for dinner and movie night. Dinner was delicious and the kids played while we hung out. We lost track of time and the kids were none too happy when we couldn't follow through with movie night. Here's Katelyn and Kylee!
Kylee put all these necklaces and rings on Katelyn and then started taking pictures of her. Photo shoot!
Sunday morning. Lazy cat.
Will and I divided and conquered this morning. Tyler went to Chinese school at 9am. Then I took Katelyn to a Pump it Up birthday at 10am for one of her Chinese school friends. Katelyn was so brave climbing up the slides all by herself! They were so sweaty!
Meanwhile, Will picked up Tyler at 11am from Chinese school to head to his friend Elijah's 6th birthday across the street at Playland Cafe. Pretty cool place, the kids loved it!
Katelyn and I were still having a ball at Pump it up!
More pictures from the Playland Cafe party.
Katelyn's friend Matthew, the birthday boy! KK enjoyed the cupcake frosting.
More fun at Playland - building block area.
This little boy (also named Matthew) is going to be at the same school with her soon. At least she'll know someone else!
Whew, once we got back from Katelyns' birthday party, nap time for Katelyn, along with Mojo.
Will came back from the party with both Tyler and Kaden so that Stacy could be at Kylee's 4th birthday party. It was so cute and chill! The girls had a great time! It was at a haircutting place and included the girls getting their hair, makeup and nails done, as well as dress up and a fashion show!
First they did a lice check on all the girls. Yuck! Totally understandable though.
Then it was pizza time! I'm not a fan of Katelyn's hair down like this.
Nail polish time!
Then hair...
Finished product! Curled hair is so cute!
Makeup time. I'm not a fan of makeup on Katelyn, obviously. But I had to have her go back to get at least some red lipstick on, she was looking quite nude compared to the other girls!
Tada!
Fashion show time. One girl went before Katelyn but didn't really know what to do. Katelyn was up after another little girl refused to go. She walked down the aisle with the hostess and struck the CUTEST pose! I didn't teach her any of that!
Video of the KK's runway walk:
Dolled up girls! Good thing I had Katelyn already in a cute dress. Most of the dresses were too big and the one I had picked out for her earlier (we were the first ones there) had accidentally been taken by another girl (the one to the left of her!). No big deal.
After the party we headed home with the Garners for round two of dinner and left over birthday cake for Kylee.
BFFs!
I don't know how we squeezed in 4 birthday parties in one weekend. Exhausted.
Good thing Memorial Day weekend is coming up and we're not doing much at all!
