Arm painting at ICDC today! I have been leaving multiple messages at the brand new Woodbury Great Foundations Montessori and hadn't been getting a call back. I finally called and spoke with the director/owner and she told me that they had called and left a message back in January that Katelyn had a spot if we wanted. Never got the message. Strange. Their school is totally full but they were able to offer me a start date for June 1st. SWEET! Was on the fence again, just like last time. What is with the emotional ties to this school? I haven't been happy with the way things have been going with Katelyn there for a while, but I have so many fond memories of Tyler growing up there.
Wednesday Katelyn had her Chinese school (they were closed on Monday so this was her makeup class) and I went to the Montessori school and pretty much just stalked the primary classrooms from 10-11:30am. Seriously! It really helped to see the teachers in action with the kids, and help ease me into the idea of moving Katelyn there. Spoke again with the director and got her ready to go. This time it's really happening! Picked up Katelyn at 12pm from her Chinese class and had a park playdate with her friends Kendall and Liv, before we all headed over to pick up the older brothers.
Wednesday night - a REALLY needed saketini night with my friend Yoko. OMG I was majorly irritated the day before at Kumon and was in FULL VENT mode. Totally PMS. Thank goodness Yoko was free the next day for some stress relief!
Thursday I got a Brazilian Blowout! I found a ridiculous deal online that was $150 for two separate treatments. Ridiculous huh! Got a trim too while I was there.
On Thursday I gave ICDC Katelyn's 30 day notice when I picked her up. Waaah. I actually didn't feel nowhere near as sick as I did the last time I was going to do it. I wonder what changed? I think I just committed to the decision and stopped second guessing myself. Found Katelyn in Pre-4, as usual, playing with her favorite teacher Vanessa. Vanessa is probably what we will miss the most, if not the only thing we will really miss. WAAAH!
Silly girls. I'm telling you, Katelyn thinks she's in Pre-4. It all started last Summer when she moved to Pre-1 and got to have access to the big yard. Tyler was in Pre-4 at the time so she they had a few months together where Katelyn spent all her time in Pre-4 playing with Tyler and his friends.
Tyler is a chick magnet when he visits. He was one of the last to leave Pre-4 for Kindergarten, so a lot of the younger kids came into his class while he was still there. The girls like to chase and hug him when they see him, haha!
Katelyn and Kylee playing in the yard!
Friday morning I grabbed a quick coffee with my friend Hanna. It was good to see her away from Kumon and get in some much needed chatting.
Chinese bingo!
On Saturday Will took the kids to the Discovery Science Center. Our passes had expired last year but there was this great promotion going on that we couldn't pass up. 2 years for the price of 1, at at $99! Sweet! The kids had a great time.
What was I off doing? Baby shower lunch for my friend Bonnie at Marche Moderne. I've never been to this restaurant before. It's on the 3rd floor next to Nordstroms/Tiffany at South Coast Plaza. So yummy! Great lunch with fun friends.
By the time I got back it was later in the afternoon and the whole family napped. Love these lazy weekend afternoons. For dinner we tried out a new Korean soup restaurant - Tang 190. Tasty and yummy!
Mommy and KK!
Sunday we headed over to Will's parents' place for lunch.
Then took the kids swimming after naps. This is probably their first time in the pool since we got back from Aulani back in December. They love the hot tub! Tyler has completely forgotten everything about swimming though and I'm mildly panicked since I've signed him up for the community swim team this Summer. He literally kicks and sinks. I can't blame him though, can I? It's been a while! Hopefully he'll remember after a while. I still have a couple makeup lessons I need to use at Waterworks Aquatics.
A funny video of Tyler and KK playing lightsabers with Will:
And a last video of Katelyn playing hairstylist to mommy:
Overall a nice easy going week!
