Snow White and Basketball!... (Week 288/150)

Hello! Playing catchup again. The holidays were so crazy this year that we're still trying to get things back to normal.  But I will prevail!  This week started with a nice morning playdate with my friend Amy and her kids.  I wasn't able to celebrate her birthday with her in December since it was right before we were heading to Hawaii.  We met up at the Spectrum for some shopping and then had dimsum for lunch.  Katelyn loves sui mai, so it was perfect.  I had to make sure I brought home a few extra for Tyler as well.  Here's my Katelyn with her Kaitlyn.

Then for dinner we were able to meet up with our friends Jeff/Joan at Boiling Crab in Costa Mesa.  I've been to the one in Rowland Heights before, but never this one.  Will had never been at all!  This place was surprisingly large and we ate a ton of shrimp and seafood.  It was yummy!  The kids liked graffiti-ing on the benches and walls of the waiting area.

The kids enjoyed fish and chips while we ate lots and lots of shrimp!

So good to see them again before they head back to Taiwan.  Also great to see our friend Yao too!

Tuesday was our first (I think) playdate with Jordan.  Jordan's mom Bonnie came up with this GREAT idea to help both of us out.  I volunteer in the Kindergarten class on Tuesdays while she volunteers on Thursdays.  Since I'm already there on Tuesdays, I take Jordan home with me for a little playdate, and she does the same on Thursdays.  Perfect since it gives each of us an extra hour and a half (2:45 instead of 1:20pm) and not having to wait outside for the kids on both days.  It's great, especially since Tue/Thur are the days we don't have our little girls with us and we have free time for ourselves.  That little hour+ is A LOT!  Anyway, the boys had a good time playing Legos, and even trying out Tyler's Taekwondo gear.  Haha!  Incidentally, this was the week we decided to stop taekwondo.  Having to get him there Mon/Wed meant that I needed to nap Katelyn in the morning immediately and then wake her up (grumpiness ensured) to get Tyler to TKD in the afternoon.

Thursday, continuing on with Tyler's piano lessons!  I need to be better at getting him to practice harder.  He enjoys it though, so it hasn't been too hard.  Hopefully his enthusiasm will keep on.

Wednesday I grabbed lunch with my friend Hanna at a shabu shabu place.  I had Katelyn with me so I was worried, but she was quite well behaved!  Thank you babysitter iPad.

Basketball practice this week got moved to Thursday from Tuesday.  BRRRRR it was cold!  Tyler is loving basketball, I'm so glad.

Found out last minute that it was Irvine Restaurant week (ending that day) and we decided to grab dinner at Wasa Sushi at the Marketplace.  I love Japanese food, always want to have it.  What a ploy though, we still ended up spending a tidy sum even with the 'deal'.

After dinner and getting the kids ready for bed, I got a much needed happy hour with my friend Mariam!  We went to Lucille's and Ra Sushi at the District.  Omg, so much fun that night, had a great time!

Friday morning, after dropping of Tyler, Katelyn and I headed over to the Woodbury Commons for an OC Mommies event.  There were a ton of girls and their moms, all eager to meet Snow White and Tinkerbell.  I had some major allergies hanging out in the large grass park.  Plus it got hot, boo!  I was quite taken with Snow White, and decided to book her that day for Katelyn's birthday party.  Great marketing for them!  Plus I got 10% off as well.  I had been really undecided on what to do for Katelyn's birthday and this just really helped seal the deal.  I have to have a real birthday party for her this year, she's never had one before.  2nd kid guilt!

The kids went on a search with Snow White and Tinkerbell for Tinkerbell's friends.  They had sprinkled gold coins all over the grass that the kids were so excited to collect.

Look at my telescope!

Friday night we had the Garners over for dinner, first time I think where we actually cooked some food ourselves, haha!  Will made some kalbi and the kids played and had a good time.

Saturday - another basketball game!  Whoohoo, go Tyler!

He dribbles...

He shoots...

And...

He SCORES!  YAY!

It was picture day after the game.  Super cute.  We were supposed to bring snacks that day for the team and I TOTALLY forgot.  Yikes.  I didn't even realize until later that evening.  The kids were so cute taking their individual photos and team picture.

After picture day, we headed to their favorite spot In-N-Out for lunch.  Evidently the kids are quite picky about their hamburgers.  They actually prefer In-N-Out to the other place.  Any time Katelyn sees the arrow, she'll scream out "In-N-Out!!!!!"  Haha!

After naps, we headed to our tennis courts for some tennis.  We had mentioned maybe doing this before naps and the kids were ADAMANT after they woke up that we went.  I was feeling lazy and not too thrilled since it was SO cold but I gave in.  The kids loved it!  Can you tell we are trying to steer them towards basketball and tennis?  Haha!  Sports that we actually enjoy.  Katelyn was great at getting the balls for us, and hoarded them constantly.

Video of some tennis action:

After Chinese school on Sunday, we had lunch with Will's parents at his dad's favorite Italian Restaurant in Lake Forest.  We're not big fans, but no big deal.  Will wasn't feeling so great though, and I could tell he needed some rest.

Video of the kids talking to their grandparents on the phone:

Will went straight to bed after we got home and I took the kids to my friend Hanna's place for dumpling night with the KMC group.  We made our own dumplings and ate them!  The kids always all get along great.

And lastly a video of some dinner conversation between Tyler and KK:
