Comp Exam 1, Star Wars Movie Event, Zachary's 3rd Bday Party and Valentines Day!... (Week 240/102)

Ahhh! Almost 3 weeks behind!  I've been very preoccupied with my upcoming exams and just kept procrastinating with these updates.  I'll try to write about my state of mind 3 weeks ago, but it already seems like such a long time ago.

This post was the week right after my first exam.  I was SUPER STRESSED.  There was very little sleep going on and my days were spent either at the Starbucks up the street or at the library with my study group at CSULB.  Oh, the STRESS!  Especially since my first exam was Statistical Inference - VERY hard core math.   The kids were starting to really miss me, as I'd barely see them (I tried to get home in time to give them a good night kiss, but I wasn't always successful).

Then Tyler brought home this card he made me at school.  Brought tears to my eyes, and helped relax me.  Helped me realize that regardless of how I did on these exams, I still had a wonderful and loving family - which is really the most important thing to me anyway.

The night before the exam, my study group called it quits early and I was able to get back to Irvine in time for dinner with the family.  We ate with another family at Chipotle.  Katelyn was decked out in stamped hearts (on her face??) ready for Valentines Day.  (Which, by the way, we completely skipped this year.  Will DID get me some lovely tulips though!)

Saturday morning. D-Day.  I headed out to campus early and Will had plans of his own.  The local movie theater (the District) was having a special 3D Star Wars Episode 1 event.  Since Tyler is so Star Wars crazy, they couldn't miss this!  We had Ashley (one of K's previous Infant room teachers, and now one of Tyler's Pre-4 teachers) come and watch Katelyn while Will took Tyler to the movies.  There was no way Katelyn would have been able to sit through such a long movie - even though she LOVES Star Wars as much as Tyler!  They attended the first showing of the day (9:45am?) and met up with the Mutucs (another ICDC Family).  Check out Tyler's cool 3D glasses - there were limited amounts and were modeled after Anakin's racing goggles.

Afterward, Tyler got to meet lots of different characters.  A Star Wars fan's dream!

Some of Tyler's other friends from school were there as well.  Tyler was not too happy that Will didn't bring a light saber for him when his other friends had theirs.

Crisis diverted though, one of the Jedis there let Tyler play with theirs!  And Tyler got to meet R2D2 too!

Um... these Jedis were not hired characters I'm pretty sure - just big fans.

I'm not sure what this guy is.

Here's Tyler with his favorite teacher (and super Star Wars fan!) Vanessa along with some other Star Wars characters.

And Yoda!

Darth Maul.  Tyler accidentally bonked him in the head with his two sided light saber.  The guy was a good sport about it though. :)

What a fun event!  And great bonding time for Will and Tyler!

...then a quick In-n-out lunch with the Mutucs.  Love these kids, they are so well behaved.  Katelyn was great at home with Ashley too.  After lunch, Tyler knocked out on the car ride home (I don't blame him!).

By this time I had finished my first exam and had my head hung low.  I had expected it to be difficult and it had definitely proved to be.  Out of 10 problems you needed to choose 7.  Out of those 7, I had a great 100% correct feeling about 2 of them.  The thing about Statistical Inference is that the answers don't always come out nice and pretty and looking right.  Of the rest, there were a few that I had my fingers crossed and then a couple that I couldn't get all the way through.  But alas, there was no time to sit around thinking about it since we had another exam in a week!  We met up at the library after the exam...and continued studying.  IT SUCKED!

Will, on the other hand, woke up Tyler after a bit and headed with both kids to a birthday party in Fullerton.  Robot themed!  Sad that I missed another party but glad that the kids got to go.

What a fun day for the kids, especially Tyler!  That evening we had dinner with Will's parents.  The next day we had lunch with them as well before I headed off back to study groups.  Then Monday I TOTALLY smashed my pinky toe into the corner of the bathroom wall.  I have no idea how it happened but omg it HURT!  You can see how completely purple it turned.  I could barely walk.  (3 weeks later it is still sore).  The picture doesn't do it justice!  I have memories of hobbling around the Starbucks to go to the bathroom.  Poor toe.

Valentines Day happened this week as well.  The kids were very excited with all their Valentines Cards.  Except they don't get to eat any of the candy anyway...

I think I'll need a Valentines Day make up date! :)
