Game Night, TKD Competition and Disneyland... (Week 231/93)

Short post this week!  Holidays are just around the corner, I am loving the holiday spirit, Christmas lights and Christmas music on the radio!

This week the kids' school had a parent's night out.  Will and I took advantage of the cheap babysitting ($20 a kid) and headed out to dinner at Anjin, one of our favorite restaurants.  We rarely get to go since it's farther away (Costa Mesa) and you really have to get there right when they open or the line gets ridiculously long.  It was super delicious. YUM!

Some random photos of the kids and I hanging out on the couch.  Aren't their flannel pajamas cute?  Katelyn is fully obsessed with Hello Kitty.  It's all Will's fault (hah!).  He got her a cute little Hello Kitty doll a few months back.  I haven't helped the situation either though.

This week we also had our first game night, at our home!  I was a little nervous since we never really hang out at home with the kids in bed.  But my nanny had to cancel last minute and I was really looking forward to hanging out with our friends - so it was a first!  The kids did great, we got them all washed and ready for bed before our friends Jen and Vince got here.  They played with them a little and then went up to bed!  The 4 of us then got our Pictionary on.  Ok, that doesn't sound really exciting, but combine that with wine / Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka, and it was a hilarious time.  We really had a great time.  It's been a really long time since Will and I got to hang out with another couple without the kids running around.  It also helped that they are so much fun to hang out with.  I can't wait until the next one!

Saturday was Tyler's in-school Taekwondo competition.  We have been thinking about pulling him out of TKD for a few months until I am employed again.  But it does seem like such a shame since he is starting to focus much more.  Here he is with his friends (another) Tyler and Scott waiting for their turn.  The competition was on Saturday morning and we decided that I'd take Tyler alone and Will would take Katelyn to the park.  We have not-so-great memories of Katelyn misbehaving at his TKD graduations and just wanted to avoid the stress.  He did great!  His instructor kind of threw him off though.  Tyler likes to jump the gun when he knows the next move in his form.  Mr. Ben actually tried to let Tyler see if he could do the form by himself!  I almost had a heart attack out of anxiety since Tyler has never even tried to do it by himself.  At least give us a warning and not make his first time trying in front of a large crowd!  He did fine though, but I think next time we'll definitely try to do some practicing at home (compared to the none he is doing now!).

Will had a great time with Katelyn at the park.  She insisted on petting all the frogs around the fountain!

Video of Katelyn on the airplane in the park.  I think there's some turbulence going on.

After the taekwondo competition, we went to lunch with our friends the Katz family.  Amy and I met while we were waiting for our kids at taekwondo, and she has since started sending their son Sterling to Tyler's kumon class as well.  Sterling is 3 1/2 and smaller than Katelyn.  He is quite petite!  Amy is a housewife and Neil is a orthopedic surgeon.  They are really nice!  Katelyn really took to Amy and was super sweet with her at lunch.

And lastly, we squeezed in one more Disneyland trip before the black-out dates start!  I picked Tyler up from school after his nap and we were off.  Amazingly, for a Wednesday night, it was quite packed - most people were probably Southern CA pass holders (like us) and trying to get in one last visit before Friday (blocked out from then until the New Year).  We met up with my friend Amy and her family.

Video of Tyler driving at Autopia - it's quite stinky with the gasoline fumes:

Taking a break to watch the Christmas parade.

Quite a horrible picture of me, but the only one we got with my friend Amy and her daughter Kaitlyn!

Tyler's favorite ride hands down was the renovated Star Tours ride.  Totally different experience each time (story wise).

Have a good holiday everyone!
