Bike Park Playdate and Backyard Water Fun! (Week 215/77)
Whew, another week has gone by. My nanny was out of town for my first week off from work and it was quite tiring at home with Katelyn. I don't know how stay at home moms do it. Things are easier now that Tyler's dance and piano classes have ended. Whew. We're still sticking with Taekwondo though. I think it's a great activity for Tyler.
This week I also got to have a late night hang out with my friend Yoko (she's the mom of Katelyn's school friend Harmony). We went to Tokyo Table and had lychee saketinis. They were the best lychee saketinis I've ever had! D e l i c i o u s !
Friday evening we had a playdate at the Woodbridge Community Bike Park. It is such a cute park for their residents. Katelyn loved riding in Tyler's old car (sorry that it's blue K). She has since become obsessed with it and will get really angry when she sees it in the garage and can't get in it. We've since resorted to hiding it below some bags. Anyway, she loves being pushed around in it and honking the horn.
Hey, who left me in this tunnel? This bike park has paths with stop signs and a pretend gas station. And it's actually quite large and the kids can ride for long stretches!
Then the other kids thought it would be fun to push Katelyn along. We were slightly concerned.
It takes 3 people to push Princess Katelyn. Not sure why she is lunched over like that - she was holding the front trunk open.
Even little Madison gave Katelyn a whirl. :)
Dinner was pizza and fruit! There was beer too but we're not beer drinkers. :(
Tyler worked up quite a sweat riding his bikes. I'm so glad he has a big boy bike - he has a lot of room to grow into it. I still remember when we got it for him last Christmas - it was so huge and I didn't even think that he would be able to get on it.
Group picture at the end!
Silly faces!
Tyler had a blast!
By the time we left, it had gotten dark and we were actually locked inside the park (the key fobs didn't work) and our friends had to call the community HOA to let us out. It was exciting being out at night, almost felt like we were camping!
On Saturday my parents came over to see the kids. They are going to be doing a lot of international traveling in the next few months and this was the only weekend until end of November that they were free. Yikes! My mom brought over a water pool and the kids were so excited to play outside.
This was the slip'n'slide they played on while we filled the other pool.
Time to go down the slide! Katelyn LOVED it and would squeal each time.
Summer days like these make me love my little family and my backyard!
This was pretty hilarious. Tyler kept holding the balls on Katelyn's head and saying she had boobies. Then it was back boobies, and then boobies on himself! Hah!
We ended the outside play with Tyler grooving out to my iHome. He boogied hard in the pool!
Video of Tyler and Katelyn's water play in the backyard - I love that they can play together now (with minimal arguing. heehee)
Video of Tyler and Katelyn's water dancing - they both have moves!
Video of Tyler and Katelyn's slip-n-slide army crawl.
My parents with the kids.
Sunday we headed over to the in-laws again. Katelyn and Tyler are always happy when they can just hang out and watch TV there. I'd like to limit their TV time there, which is why I keep bringing more and more toys there.
Tyler was excited with grandpa making him a fresh berry smoothie. We had been talking about the inlaws doing a trial run before our Vegas trip in September. I was concerned that the kids had never spent the night over there and thought it'd be a good idea for them to try it out with Will and I close by. Exciting! Tyler and Katelyn spent their FIRST overnight with the grandparents! We pretty much got them all showered and ready for bed and the in-laws then just put them to sleep. It's not a huge amount of time away, but at least they were able to put them to bed without issue. What a relief!
Will and I decided to take advantage of our night off and headed to a friend's birthday party at a club in Anaheim called Heat Lounge. Yes, you read that right. Will and I actually went to a club! I was not sure how much fun it was going to be (I quite dislike clubbing) but really wanted to take advantage of the kid-free night.
Luckily our friend had gotten a VIP table with bottle service. This is really the only way to club - in my dislike-clubbing opinion. :) We had a place to sit as well as unlimited mixed drinks. Perfect! I even made a new friend Kristy (on the left below) and got to chat and catch up with my friend Eva (on the right). It was a REALLY fun night and Will and I got home by 2am. We paid for it the next day though. EXHAUSTED! We are really too old to be up that late...
Iveth (to my right) was the birthday girl!
Another weekday without the nanny. I think Cheyenne was getting a tooth extracted. Katelyn and I made a trip to Trader Joes where she picked out Chicken Taquitos. I have no idea why but she was really attached to these taquitos and wouldn't put them back. For a while she wouldn't even put them in her cart. She wanted to hold them in one hand and push the cart with the other. Quite unsuccessful.
Tyler has really liked playing this Dr. Seuss Twister type ABC game. It's pretty hilarious. You call out letters and body parts. Even Katelyn likes to get in on the action sometimes.
Tuesday was Magic Mountain with Trina and Mariam. I was SO hot. It was quite draining. Plus I drove myself and Mariam - quite impressive, no?
And lastly, just a photo of my KK hanging out. :)
...and one from my nanny. Apparently Katelyn saw Cheyenne's sunglasses and put them on by herself. LOVE it!
