First up - my babies! Tyler has been showing a lot more kindness and patience with Katelyn lately. When she is fussing he will grab a toy or book and give it to Katelyn. He gets quite pleased with himself when he gets her to stop crying. This morning I caught him reading one of his Cars books to her. "Katelyn, this is Sally. Say Sal-ly."
We headed to Sharon's, the daughter of our friends, 2nd birthday party in South Hills. How cute is this cake!?
There was a inflatable playground there for the kids to play with.
Tyler had a good time! He fell asleep on the drive up there and was kind of grumpy when he woke up. It took him a little bit to warm up, but even then he was still a little clingy and quiet. Very not like him.

The good thing about birthday parties at people's houses is that there are always a lot of toys. Tyler and Katelyn played on these slides for quite a while, even though we have the exact same ones in our own backyard! Katelyn was a little daredevil, purposely throwing herself off at the bottom and going 'WOAH!'. Someone likes to copy her big brother...

Some of the kids got in the pool as well. We were headed to a playdate afterward at the Lagoon in Irvine, so we held off on our kids swimming. Tyler did get his feet wet though. Can you see the crowd in the background? They had a crepe company catering - delicious! I want that next time!

The rest of the day was not so great. Tyler started whining and being super clingy before we left the party. We headed out anyway and stopped to get coffee to bring to the playdate at the lagoon. Uh-oh, by then he was starting to feel a little warm. And by the time we got to the lagoon he was just flat out not in a good mood. Yikes. We dropped off the coffee, took a group picture, and headed off. That was Saturday night and that night he had a fever of 101. Nothing too much to worry about, but he was pretty miserable. I bought a slip'n'slide at Target on Clearance ($3!) and we took it out for Katelyn to play in it. She was looking at it curiously while we were setting it up and immediately climbed out of her pool to check it out.

I had lunch with a few of my coworkers this week - sort of a good-bye lunch (sniff sniff). My last date was supposed to be July 22nd but it got extended to August 12th. Delay of the inevitable. Sigh.
Tyler had his piano class again. I was really annoyed this week with his not listening. Then I realized (after chatting with one of the other dads there) that I need to just relax and let him enjoy the experience. No expectations - just have fun!
Video of Tyler playing catch the snake at Taekwondo - this is hilarious. You cant tell but Tyler has SUCH a determined look on his face as he is chasing the other kid. Haha!
