Whoohoo - we're posting on a Wednesday! Yippee!
The end of last week started out quite solemnly - Will and I headed up to the San Gabriel area to attend Will's grandmother's viewing. First we stopped at my parents' place in Hacienda Heights to drop the kids off, then headed out to Will's parents' place. There were quite a few flowers, but I posted the one from the grandkids (Will and I) and great-grandkids (duh, Tyler and Katelyn). Those little red hearts are from the ggkids, and the larger hearts behind them were from the grandkids. The other flower arrangements were huge and beautiful though. A nice touch - since Will's grandmother was 90+, they were draped with pink ribbon instead of white. It definitely gave a different vibe.
By the time we were headed home, rain was coming down pretty hard. As we got closer to Irvine, we saw that it was hail. Woah! Imagine my surprise to our backyard all white. I guess it provides a little solace since we aren't going to Mammoth anymore... which was supposed to be this coming weekend! BOO!
And my car! It sure was cold. Too bad it was so late at night or Tyler could have had some fun playing with it.
The next day we woke up bright and early and headed out to Alhambra. Katelyn hadn't gotten the nap memo for the day and I don't remember if we were able to squeeze one in on the drive up. She was on quite good behavior though, for a 1 year old anyway. I had been hesitant about bringing the kids to a funeral but my in-laws insisted. Here's Katelyn walking around near the end with the star gazer that had fallen out of one of the flower arrangements.
After the service, my mom and I took the kids while the rest of the family headed up to Rose Hills for the internment. The kids fell asleep pretty quickly - Katelyn was definitely overdue for hers!
We met up with the family and family friends for lunch at a restaurant in San Gabriel. It was Will's grandmother's favorite restaurant, and also where we celebrated Katelyn's 1 month birthday. Here's Will and Katelyn - I couldn't get her to keep her hairband on anymore.
And here's Tyler with my parents.
And Will and Katelyn with Will's mom.
Video of Katelyn and her Lamby at lunch- she has been doing this silly thing lately where she'll put her little lovey around her neck and pull on both sides. She thinks it's really quite funny for whatever reason! She was really smiley with everyone and would interact and let others hold her. Yay Katelyn!
By the time lunch was over later in the afternoon, we were tired! Here's Tyler with his grandma. I don't really remember what we did that afternoon - I think it involved napping.
Sunday. Tyler's buddy Kaden's 4th birthday party at the Santa Ana Zoo! Katelyn was again not cooperating with our hoped nap schedule, and fussed the whole drive up until we literally pulled off the freeway when she finally fell asleep. DOH! Anyway, Tyler was full of energy and excited to play with all his school friends. Here's Tyler with his friends Sutton and Kaden!
Video of the wild boys on the train. Sit down kids! WOW they have SO much energy huh?!
Love this photo. you can see how mischievous the boys are when they band together! Oh, that reminds me, Tyler put his RayBan sunglasses on the floor when he went to wash his hands (there's an outdoor water thing near the petting zoo) and Kaden stepped on them accidentally! AAHHH! RUINED! That teaches us to get Tyler expensive sunglasses!
Uh-oh, more mischief... climbing up to look down the well...
Oh silly you guys! There was a grate there!
At lunch Tyler sat with his buddy Zane. Zane is 1 day younger than Tyler but probably, like, 2 inches taller (his mom is 6 feet!). Zane is one of Tyler's good buddies - they play together every day at school. Tyler likes Zane because, and I quote, "he doesn't yell or take away my toys". The other boys can be quite rough - Zane is a sweetheart!
Spiderman birthday cake!
All the kids hanging out!
Katelyn was very excited to move around and check things out. She's got to be involved in everything!
Yum.. time for cake!
Even Katelyn's hat matches her clothes. Once she got out, she was completely not interested in getting back into her stroller.
She's gotten so big now!
Something silly she must have heard...
Riding the carousel!
The kids checking out all the monkeys at the zoo!
Will and Katelyn checking out the monkeys too!
Video of Katelyn excitedly checking out the animals - it's like she's saying - Hey! Do you see that?!
So many primates to see, so little time!
Then we stopped by the playground before we headed out. Look how brave Tyler is, jumping from so high! I would have freaked out if I saw him do that!
He's so big now - no fear!
And sharing a strawberry fruit bar between siblings. Tyler doesn't mind sharing...
..or does he? He doesn't look too thrilled here..
Say Ahhhhh Katelyn!
Video of Tyler sharing his strawberry Popsicle. What a good big brother! :)
And a last private moment between Tyler and the bday boy Kaden! Awww!
This week was also my girl Trina's 31st birthday! I actually did an overnight trip down to San Diego with my girlfriends - amazing since i haven't had a night away FOREVER! Katelyn is 1+ and I've never had a night away from her, and the last time I had a night away from Tyler was back in early 2009. We started out with dinner at Taka, a sushi restaurant in the Gaslamp district of San Diego.
This was a cute picture from the night.
And here are a few of us the next morning in front of the hotel (Se San Diego, totally hidden away). Boy am I getting old, I was so tired - it took me quite a bit to recover!
That night we had birthday dinner plans again in Garden Grove at this all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ place. I was really bummed that I couldn't find someone to watch the kids, except the dinner was all the way in garden grove AND at 8pm. The kids are pretty much in bed already! We really need to get someone who can watch the kids once in a while! Anyway, here's me and the bday girl Trina!
A group shot (missing a couple people in the bathroom).
KMT!
Video of Tyler's taekwondo jump kick during practice. He's getting better at his moves! Mr. Do asked him yesterday if he was ready to test for his orange belt soon. Woah!
Monday we also did one day of soccer through the city of Irvine. I wasn't around and Will said it took a lot of persuading to get him there. Oh well, I had to cancel the rest of the classes since they conflict with his upcoming swimming classes in May. Whoohoo! Excited about that!
Action shot!
So focused!
And yay, a visit from Auntie Trina to the kids!
heehee, that's funny.
Happy Birthday Auntie Trina! Trina loved the card from Tyler (took me a bit of cajoling to get him to write Happy Birthday on it neatly!) The snowboarding goggles were appreciated too!
Heehee, great smile Tyler!
Video of Trina with Tyler and Katelyn - it's been too long!
The night topped off with a special treat - a bedtime story for Tyler from Auntie Trina! :)
Some random pictures from the week. Here Katelyn is watching Tyler in the backyard - he was playing with his golf putter, maybe a little too excitedly!
Why isn't anyone opening my car door? Where's the valet?
Oooh it was cold and Katelyn got super bundled up for a nice little stroll. Love her little hat!
Katelyn has been getting quite a few rashes lately, I tried to get some photos to show the doctor but they don't come out so dark in photos as they looked in real life. She's still cute though!
This is the photo that prompted my call to our pediatrician's office to get a referral to a pediatric allergist/immunologist. Poor thing! There is definitely something going on with her, and I think we need to figure it out instead of just constantly giving her Benadryl. We've got an appointment on Friday so hopefully we can figure out what's going on.
Quoting Tyler: "I love Kumon. I wish I could do it ALLL day." Haha! I think he just wants to avoid going to bed sometimes!
Ooh, and this picture I found on my desktop from last week that I forgot to post. Which, I had to because, quite honestly, if it doesn't get posted in here, all photos get lost into a deep black digital hole and are never seen again!
Have a good week everyone!
