It is tough getting back into the grind of things after the holidays! We had a pretty relaxed week, and Katelyn tried lots of new foods. She is SO over baby food (bad timing because I just bought a ton on sale at Babies R Us! Good thing I can return them..)
Last week my friend Melissa came by for a visit. I met Melissa when I first started working at Boeing, and we would hang out all the time and do happy hours with our friends. Ah, to be young and have no real responsibilities! Anyway, she moved to San Diego so I don't get to see her much. Katelyn took right to her though!
Also making an appearance with the kids - Auntie Trina! Tyler has been having a tough time lately - really sensitive, moody, not listening, etc. It's driving us nuts! And Sunday night he told us that we never play with him anymore. Ouch. He says I'm always cleaning or taking care of Katelyn. BOTH very true. So Will and I are making a real effort to try to spend more time alone with him. It's tough though - there's only so much time after work/school and Katelyn just wants to do whatever Tyler is doing! Anyway, Trina and I picked up Tyler early from school on Monday to give him some one-on-one special time. Destination? YogurtLand of course! :)
We were at the Diamond Plaza off Jamboree - they have some cute stores. They have an entire Piyo Piyo store. Yes! You know, Piyo Piyo, the little round yellow cartoon duck/chick? I was amazed at the baby line in this store - they carry everything piyo piyo - from bottle sterilizers to bathtubs! I got Katelyn a cute little pink hat. Then we checked out the Sticker picture store upstairs. All very new to Tyler...taking the booth pictures was quite chaotic!
Then we waited for the photos to print...
Hmmm? Didn't they turn out cute? Aren't we so creative with the decorating? haha!
Back at home Trina got some special time with the kids. Tyler was showing her this Toy Story on-screen coloring book, and of course Katelyn wanted to be in on it too.
Whoops! Katelyn is all about crawling over things - even people! Hehe, her feet are up in the air in this picture.
It's been too long since Tyler saw Trina! When Will got home, he told him: "Look, I have a new friend!" WHAT? Tsk Tsk, not something a kid should be saying about their Godmother! (Did that guilt you enough T? heehee. OK I'll stop now! )
Tyler had told Will the day before that he never played trains with him anymore either. So sad, and SO true. We made sure to put out the train tracks and get some Thomas time in.
But of course Katelyn wanted to be involved. She would pick up the plastic trees and much on them. (they kinda of look like broccoli, which she loves) Tyler was NOT happy about that.
Will and Katelyn!
This is Katelyn at the train table in the kitchen area. She doesn't get to play there much when Tyler is home (and I quote Tyler: "Kaatteelllyynnn!!!" so she's all over it when he's in school.
Sometimes I look at Tyler and am amazed at what a big kid he is now. The other night I was reading him bedtime stories. It was COLD. I had one of his blankets wrapped around me and I asked him if he was cold. He said yes, and I said I was really cold too! Then I told him he should put on some socks like me so he wouldn't be cold. He looked at me and said something like: "but you have socks, and you're still cold". I had no response... Here's a few random photos I took of him recently:
love his little dimple!
He can be such a sweet kid when he wants to be.
And of course silly Tyler!
Here's a video showing how much Katelyn loves to do whatever Tyler is doing.
This weekend we headed to the Farmer's Market near UCI on the hunt for some strawberries. We've found that the organic ones they sell there are super sweet! I was getting worried for a bit since none of the stands seemed to have any strawberries, but whew, we finally found one that did. And they didn't disappoint! Definitely a nice treat for Tyler since he loves strawberries and its been a while since we've had some yummy ones.
Alright! Slow week, so on to all the different foods Katelyn tried this week alone! I'm tired of fighting to get her to eat baby food, so its all about finger foods now. And she is SO receptive to everything! Just yesterday my nanny was giving her little pieces of cucumber and she was liking it! Here's Katelyn trying some broccoli...
I think this one was pork katsu with the crunchy part cut off.
Pineapple! Will probably hold off on this one since it was quite acidic for her and caused some redness around her mouth.
A favorite of hers - tortilla with egg in it!
And brand new - strawberries! She watched Tyler eat some after she finished hers and got really upset until she got a big one for herself!
Mmm... strawberries...
Here's a video of Katelyn eating fish and broccoli. She LOVED the steamed fish! I made donburi last night and she was all about it too! My big girl!
Some random pictures of the kids.
Hehe, these were funny. Taken at Will's parents' house - Tyler trying on grandpa's glasses! Heehee.
Hahahahaha. Still makes me laugh!
Our forgotten first child Mojo.
Love this video - Katelyn enjoying the swings!
Here's a video of Katelyn's story time before bedtime. She loves this book the most and interacts with it like a big girl!
And lastly, got to have a nice happy hour with my girls. Can't beat half off martinis!
