Happy holidays! I must get this post out before it's too late. New Years Resolution? Stop being late on posts!
Will and I both worked this last half week before Christmas, but Will worked at home for a couple days so that was definitely nice. We got to have lunch together and even got to attend a special Porsche Driving event at the El Toro base right here in Irvine. It was a 'spirited driving event' which meant they let you drive the cars FAST! Perfect for Will...not so much for me. Here's Will driving a fancy smancy 911.
I got to drive the Porsche Cayenne Turbo - man that car is smooth! I love it! But really, who needs all that power when you've got kids in the car! I also got to drive a Spyder - the instructor I was with kept pushing me to push the pedal all the way down (which I did) and it totally freaked me out. Good thing they had a big open course, but I was still pretty nervous! It was a nice event - totally not trying to sell the cars, just letting everyone experience the driving.
Oh yes, and they had a table set up with Porsche Designs products - here's Will trying on their $9000 watch. It can go really deep underwater (because that's very important). I really liked their sunglasses though!
We were lucky that my nanny was able to watch Katelyn while Will and I got some fun grown up time!
Let's see. Friday Will's parents came over. It's great to have them so close - it really is! Tyler loves it when they visit, and it's wonderful that we can head over to their Irvine house so easily when they are here. Here's a few shots from that night.
Free Porsche hats from the driving event! And Porsche lanyard and ice cube trays too!
Tyler is such a bundle of energy. I think he gets a little jealous when the grandparents fawn over Katelyn, but they are really good at giving him lots of attention as well.
Tyler can write his name now too! OK, so I'm sure most 3 year olds already can, but it's still very exciting for us! I didn't think he was ever going to have the attention span to be able to sit still. The grandparents were excited to watch him - Will's dad put on his glasses to get a better look.
Tyler took a look at Will's dad, looked a bit puzzled, and said: "why are you wearing glasses?". I guess he had never seen Will's dad in glasses before!
Anyway, he did a good job writing his name. Next up? Reading! Hah!
Saturday we headed to Target to take Katelyn's 9 month photos. It was our second attempt after they had been so busy the weekend before. She is TOTALLY in the stranger-anxiety phase - anyone new she's super serious and solemn. She didn't crack a smile the WHOLE time! What happened to our big-smiles-at-everyone baby? Sigh. Oh well. Still, how cute is she here?
Sunday we had plans to see Santa! Man, it would have been so easy to say, ah forget it, too lazy... but its Katelyn's first Christmas and we MUST do it! We headed over to Nordstroms at Irvine Spectrum (where we met Santa last year) only to find out that they werent doing it this year. Ahhh! We decided to suck it up and head to Fashion Island for their Santa. Good thing it was quite rainy because there was no line at all! Yay! Here's Tyler and Santa.
Katelyn was quite concerned...
Not a single smile! Oh well. I love her miniskirt though!
Then we hung around Fashion Island for a little bit. Good thing we brought the rain cover for my UppaBaby stroller - kept Katelyn nice and dry and still able to see everything!
Tyler was really happy to be out and about (even though he had a MAJOR meltdown that morning). What is it with him and button down shirts? You'd think they were made of needles or something - took forever to convince him to put it on!
Love Tyler's Pikachu umbrella!
Tyler ate almost an entire adult-sized pizza for lunch!
Katelyn went to TOWN on my noodles. They were stir-fried and later on that day we noticed she had developed a rash on her face/body. Not too severe, but we're thinking it must have been from the noodles - they probably used sesame oil to cook them! Oops!
We attempted to visit Santa again to get a better picture of Katelyn. No luck. Plus her skirt is hiked all the way up. Tsk tsk Katelyn!
Rain rain rain! It was raining like CRAZY for a good number of days - our grass is very green. :)
Tyler was willing to do anything to procrastinate from going home. What's so wrong with home? You'd think he'd love going home to play with his toys.. Sheesh...
Giant Christmas tree!
Then off to the Koi ponds!
Heehee, he loved the fountains! This was right before I mentioned we were going home next and he immediately got grumpy.
Katelyn LOVES udon noodles. She loves anything she can pick up and eat herself!
She likes yogurtland too - although probably not as much as Tyler did when he was little.
YUMMY!
Here's Tyler with his favorite teacher at school - Vanessa!
and here's Katelyn with our wonderful nanny Cheyenne!
Video of Tyler and Katelyn playing together. This video is super cute - Tyler took my bathrobe belt, had Will make it into a lasso, and was pulling Katelyn all around the kitchen in her walker. Katelyn didnt mind at all - she loves playing with him!
Katelyn is still working on growing hair. It's still so wispy! I think she'd probably look better in photos if she had a hat on or something...
Katelyn loves playing with Mojo! She'll call out whenever she sees him and get really excited!
Video of Katelyn cruising/standing/playing at the baby piano:
Hey Super Pika!
Katelyn's new buddy.
Big Kiss!
Katelyn's new favorite activity - crawling up the little kid couches, standing up on them, and looking into the different buckets and pulling things out!
Hmmm... what's in here?...
Video of Katelyn standing/playing at the toy shelf. She seriously thinks she knows how to walk!
And lastly I got to see my girlfriends this week! We headed ALL the way out to Torrance (it was far! and in heavy rain!). But it was worth it - lots of fun, but I paid for it for like 2 days after due to lack of sleep. I must be getting old.
Happy holidays everyone!
