Hello hello! Slowly getting back into the swing of things with the blog - and trying not to be too late! Katelyn turned 9 months this week - 9 months! She had a checkup on Friday with her pediatrician. She's getting really good at saying Hi now too! She doesn't wave her hand or wrist, she just holds her hand up and opens and closes her fingers. It's super cute!
She was not a fan of being weighed. Awww! Stats:
Weight: 20 lb 11 oz - 81%
Heights: 29 inches - 92% (they had her at 29 inches at her 6 month checkup also, I'm thinking mostly likely operator error back then!)
Head circumference: 17 1/2" - 65%
Her pediatrician also prescribed us some ointment/cream (triamcinolone - perrigo?) for her excema. It isn't too bad on her but you can tell it bothers her because she scratches her thighs/legs a lot leaving lots of little scabs! It's been a week of using the cream and it is AMAZING how well it has worked! Her skin is soft like a baby again!
Unfortunately Tyler got into an accident at school (involving another child throwing a matchbox car with sharp edges at him) and ended up with a little gash on his forehead. Apparently it bled so much and soaked through band-aids that the school felt that we needed to come take a look at it. When we got there, it looked quite juicy but the bleeding had stopped. It was quite a little gash but I guess it was somewhat deep? Anyway, our pediatrician took a look at it and said it was fine. The other kid's mom is a good friend of ours and she was more upset about it than we were! Here's a picture of his little wound.
Sunday we headed to the Aquarium of the Pacific. There was some special Boeing promotion going on where it was Free admission for Employees + 1! Whoohoo! I love free! The ticket booth guy asked if Tyler was under 2 and Will said "yup" and off we went. Super free! :)
Tyler actually had the courage this time to touch a starfish.
They have such an awesome huge tank there. It's a nice aquarium, but not really comparable to the one in Monterey. Ooh, I can't wait to take the kids there when they're older!
Tyler smiling with the fish.
Santa diver.
What a difference a year makes. Last year we came during the holidays and Tyler LOVED the fake snow bubbles. He giggled and danced and was so excited. This year...not really into it...at all. Such a big boy now...
Here's Tyler and Santa Otter. (Last year it was Santa shark!)
This was Katelyn's first time at the aquarium and we didn't even bring a stroller! She liked looking at the seahorses.
Tyler was eager to find the jellyfish. He calls them "jellies"! I wonder if he relates them to the lychee jellies that he loves to eat so much...
This was Tyler's first time interested in feeding the birds himself in their aviary. It wasn't such a good idea, in hindsight, since we got there right when they opened...and the birds were hungry and LOUD. We bought a little cup (tiny tiny) of nectar for $3 (highway robbery!) and headed in. Tyler was quite startled when a bird came out of nowhere!
After that, he wasn't too interested in feeding the birds anymore, so I got to! I think I have a similar picture with Tyler as a baby!
Tyler's favorite activity that day? Watching pennies go down this donation kiosk.
He could have watched those pennies go around and around all day...
Katelyn seemed to like looking at the different marine life. She's so curious now.
Altogether a good visit, made even better that it was free! :)
We had lunch at Bubba Gump's afterward - it's right next to the museum and I felt like shrimp! Katelyn gets really thirsty and we've started giving her little sippy cups of water. It is SO funny watching her because she will totally try to down all of it. She holds it in a drunk-ish (?) way and can't get enough!
Here's her drinking it.
and a short video of her drinking from a sippy cup! She's only a few short months away from real cow's milk!
And we'll leave off with a few photos of Katelyn during bath time.
Have a good week everyone! Christmas is coming, yay!
