Hello there! Short post today. What's been going on. Ah yes, I am feeling MUCH better after 2+ weeks of being sick and a horrible cough. My doctor's office called me back this morning and confirmed that I did NOT have whooping cough. Whew, definitely a relief. Seriously though, if you had heard how horrible my coughing was last week... you would have wanted to stay away also - especially considering the whooping cough epidemic going on in CA (and Orange County)!
Katelyn has had a handful of nights where she has slept MARVELOUSLY, I'm talking 730pm-6am or something. Without waking up at all to nurse! Of course, right when I'm excited and hoping it'll become a regular thing...last night she woke up at 2am and did NOT want to go back to sleep. Not fun. Katelyn's top right tooth has finally popped out! Her left one is on its way too. Now she can get a better grip on things - especially her favorite food right now - baby mum-mums! She loves those little dissolveable crackers. She also loves the little puffs but she can't get them into her mouth by herself. Katelyn has also gotten really good at the army crawl. She's quite mobile now and can get herself all over the place. No sign of her actually lifting her tummy up and getting on her knees though!
Here's Tyler and his buddy Kaden. We went out to pizza with them last week. They didn't have milk (and we weren't prepared! bad parents!) so we were forced to give Tyler some really watered down lemonade from the soda machine. It was amazing how bad I felt for giving it to him - we're just pretty strict on the amount of sugary things he gets. Closest he gets is usually a 100% juice box or something. Tyler thought it was a VERY nice treat.
My in-laws' new house in Woodbury is done and they're starting to buy furniture and appliances for it. From our house, it's probably a 5-10 minute drive. It'll be great to have them close by as the kids get older. Maybe when the kids are, what, 5 and 2, Will and I can actually go somewhere overnight? Just 2 years away...
Katelyn has started taking walks with our nanny - she loves them! But then again, she loves anything she does with Cheyenne. Even when she wakes up from her nap and I nurse her, she always watches Cheyenne with a smile because she doesn't want her to leave the room - even when she's hungry! I heart our nanny! Katelyn also loves her giraffe Sophie - when she hears her squeak, her eyes immediately light up and start searching for her. Greatest overpriced toy!
We managed to squeeze in a playdate this weekend despite all my coughing. Good thing the group of husbands included 2 doctors and a physical therapist! My ribs were hurting a lot but I got checked out and they recommended hugging a pillow to help. Seriously, I was holding my coughs because all motion was causing intense pain. It was quite pitiful. Anyway, here's Tyler playing the drums at our friend's house.
Here's Maddie - why do I have a picture that doesn't include Tyler or Katelyn? Look closely...Maddie is wearing my sandals! Her and Arden thought it would be fun to walk around in our shoes. I think mine were the safest to wear. They look cute on her!
Tyler was chatting up a storm with Maddie while they were playing. Doesn't Maddie look super interested?
Love how the kids have their own table. I wish we had a bigger house and could set this up! The most we can offer is the table in our backyard.
After dinner the kids watched Toy Story while the adults chatted. Seriously, best kind of playdates because the kids AND adults have fun! Tyler and Kaden actually had quite a confrontation that night - Tyler actually reacted to Kaden by taking a swing at him! We were surprised because he's usually the receiver of whacks. Is it bad that we were kind of proud that he stood up for himself? ... No, must not encourage this. Afterward, they had this conversation.
Tyler: Sorry I spit on you Kaden.
Kaden: It's Ok.
Tyler: ... Want to still be friends?
Kaden: Ok.
How cute is that!
Group photo.
And a silly shot! Last year October is one of the first times we started hanging out with these friends. My friend Marj really decorates the house up for Halloween and there was a motion-activated pumpkin thing that would sing and dance. Last year, Tyler was SO afraid of it - he would cry when it moved. This year? - he's jumping up and down in front of it trying to activate it! Last year, Katelyn was still in my tummy also. This year, a new baby, AND a new family joined the group. I feel really lucky to have this group - the kids are all friends from school and us adults have a hilarious time too. We've got 2 doctors, 3 therapists, a lawyer and a police officer! We're very well rounded.
Have a good week everyone. Should be a more exciting post next week. Next week when I post, I'll be T H I R T Y !!! AAAAHH!
