Hello! Can you believe it, I'm STILL sick. It got so bad this week that I actually went to see my doctor on Monday to get some heavy duty cough syrup to help me sleep! Unfortunately, the cherrytussim isn't doing much - except now I've got laryngitis and can barely make a peep when I try to speak. GREAT! great. Who knew whispering was so exhausting.
Anyway, this week, we took out Katelyn's walker from storage in the garage. She LOVED it. We put away the rocker/bouncer chair since now she wants to be much more mobile. When she first got in, she moved herself backwards and had such a look of surprise - I think she even almost cried from shock! But then she got the hang of it.
This little purple dinosaur on the side used to light up and play a little song when Tyler used it as a baby. The battery has since died and it won't work anymore. But when Tyler came home and saw it, he immediately pressed it! When nothing happened, he said: "it doesn't work and sing". !?! Wow, had no idea that Tyler would remember something from when he was only 6-9 months! Makes me wonder what else he remembers...
Happy Katelyn in her new mobile walker! She can really scoot herself around in that thing, and its great to keep her occupied as we're cooking dinner in the kitchen.
Katelyn's got a pretty good steady diet now. On top of the breastmilk, she has oatmeal (made with breastmilk) and fruits and veggies every day. Still not feeling the peas, but she actually ate a whole jar when she was at daycare this week. She always seems VORACIOUS when its time for solids. She loves eating bananas through her mesh feeder but she has a hard time holding the handle on it. Her favorite thing right now? Baby mum-mum rice rusks. We've never heard her so quiet before - she'll sit in her high chair while we eat dinner and just munch away quietly...and then get really angry when she's done!
This weekend we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to the Woodbridge North Lake with our friends. I LOVE the lagoon, and Tyler LOVES it even more! It's like a beach just 5 minutes away with sand for the kids, slides, and a pool area. Love it! And its right next to a lake too!
Could Tyler look anymore happy? We really should get him to the pool more I don't think he's even played in the sand at a real beach before, aside from Atlantis in the Bahamas!
Tyler originally had a swim shirt to wear into the water, but he insisted on taking it off when he saw that his buddy Dylan didn't have one on. He's so pale huh (he's also lathered with sunblock)! Hah! He must get that from Will.
Here's Tyler and Dylan playing in the water, waiting for Dylan's little sister Maddie to join them.
Buddies Dylan and Tyler. Night and Day. To be fair though, Dylan and his family just got back from a vacation in Hawaii. So jealous.
Can you tell this was with a different lens than Will's normal one? It's a wide angle one. Here are the kids hanging out in the water.
When I go pick up Tyler from school, Dylan always runs up to say Hi to me as well. It's really sweet. Except that he calls me "Kathy" and I prefer "Auntie Kathy". When Tyler saw this picture, he said, "that's my best friend!". Awww. They have a funny relationship, they tattle on each other constantly! Hah!
I swear, Tyler did not push Dylan in this picture (even though it may seem like it). They're just enjoying the water. :)
With the other moms. We all get along so well because we all like to joke around, and its just bonus that our kids are friends! Katelyn was in the Ergo almost the whole time we were there - no fussing at all!
Here's Tyler and his new friend Uncle Larry. He took a liking to him that day for some reason. Uncle Larry is a doctor - hope that'll rub off on him too! haha!
The kids really liked the water slides. On our last visit to the lagoon, Tyler went down the slide and ended up face first into the water. He was NOT happy about that and did not go on it again. This time he was still very hesitant, and just watched the other kids from the side. He finally worked up his courage enough to go down with Uncle Stacy (which Tyler pronounces SO cutely).
He convinced Stacy to take him a second time but this time he sat on the actual slide between Stacy's legs. Then he was ready to go by himself. Yay Tyler! I was very proud of him to overcome his fear and then he loved it!
And again and again.
At one point, Tyler and Arden ran off by themselves. When I looked over, they were holding hands and frolicking around. It was so cute!
And here's Katelyn enjoying the water... from the Ergo. Ok, so she didn't really even get wet - I didn't want to deal with sand everywhere. She was very happy just chilling, napping, and looking around.
Uncle Stacy is very popular with the kids. I love that the husbands in our group are as hands on as Will is. (Will was busy taking photos of the gang.)
Randomly, Tyler found a floating boat in the lagoon. He was very excited to catch it.
Then, for some reason, he decided he wanted to try to sit on it. A little plastic boat. Hah!
Then it was dinner time. Burgers, hot dogs, nandi-dogs and lots of yummy stuff. Here are some of the dads grilling. The lagoon was almost empty, it was so nice!
I managed to get Tyler to just eat a hot dog. That kid does not eat much, we're constantly pushing him to eat more. My mother in law thinks he is too skinny, but I think he's fine. He also doesn't eat candy thank goodness.
Katelyn finally got some time out of the Ergo! It was really cute, Madison came up to play with her. Katelyn would reach out to her and kind of scratch her leg and Maddie would say "owww" and look at me. I'd look at her sympathetically and say "awww, are you OK?" and rub her leg. Then Maddie would lean towards Katelyn again, have Katelyn rub her a bit and then look at me again and say: "Owww..." and point to her leg for me to rub it again. heehee. it was really cute.
I LOVE Madison's hair. C'mon Katelyn, work on it!
Yes, Katelyn is wearing baby legs. It got quite windy and I was worried about her getting cold. Here's Will with Katelyn before he fed her some baby food.
The kids also got to play some football. Tyler wasn't so good at knowing when to throw the ball to the others.
After we finished eating, it was bonfire time! (We had to make a quick location change and move to the other lagoon since the north lagoon had been completely reserved for an event and was FULL of people). Tyler was very excited and chatted excitedly with Uncle Larry about helping him with the fire. Larry was surprised too that Tyler and him had such a long conversation!
A tender moment caught between Tyler and Kaden. Heehee. He was stroking his cheek the way he strokes Katelyn's cheek!
Group picture! Didn't turn out that great though since we had to put the camera on a table (forgot the tripod).
Afterward the kids got glowsticks. O M G did they love them!
This was a funny one of Tyler - he seems very focused on waving his glowstick.
The kids then ran off and waved their glowsticks some more in the total darkness.
SMORES. They are SO yummy when made right. Delicious. I want another one! Tyler liked helping cook the marshmallows, but had no interest in eating any of them. We headed home around 9pm as Tyler started melting down a bit...but BOY did it feel great after we all took showers when we got home. Bonfires make you super smokey smelling!
Some random shots of the week:
Mojo! Our leather couches now have plastic wrap on them. It's quite fashion forward. I'm just so tired of Mojo scratching them up and stuff. I thought it would keep him off completely, but then a few hours later he's sprawled out asleep on the plastic covered couch. Lovely.
Oh Mojo.
Oh Katelyn.
We're still working on growing the hair.
How adorable is Katelyn!
Tyler got his first reward from his responsibilities chart. A Buzz LightYear stuffed animal which he LOVES! We've been much more strict with no-means-no and Tyler just has to accept it. Drives me nuts, but I think we're making progress. Katelyn is still having super short naps at school. Super short. But, Tyler LOVES to go see her - it's the highlight of his day! He loves to help Will put her stuff away too. So cute! Anyway, have a good week everyone!
