Cough cough cough. I am the weakest sick person ever. Cough cough. Tyler had quite a cough last week - mostly occurring in the middle of the night and in the morning. Katelyn turned 6 months on Friday and we took her pediatrician for her 6 month checkup.
Here's Tyler and Will! I love her in this polka dotted onesie - not sure why but maybe purple is her color..
Getting ready to get weighed. Tyler's school was closed for the long weekend (a cleaning day?) so we had both kids at home with us. My nanny was here for just the morning and it was GREAT having us all at home with the nanny. Heehee. It was so easy! She came for a bit because Will and I needed to get some work done in the morning. I am jealous of people who get to have a nanny all the time when both parents are home, heck, even when it's only one parent! We're not so lucky, we actually have to take care of our kids when we're not working! Sigh. Maybe we just need to win the lottery, heeheeee.
Here's Katelyn getting weighed. Last time she peed on the scale when she was getting weighed, hehe.
6 month stats:
Weight: 19 lbs 6 ounces (96%)
Height: 28.5 inches (100%+) off the charts
Yes, we have a big girl. But Tyler was like that too, and then he evened out. I have very nutritious breastmilk, what can I say? She had 2 shots that day as well - and barely even cried! We also got to ask the doctor about Tyler's cough and she suggested a cough suppressant called Delsym. It's been helping Tyler a lot!
Anyway, Saturday we decided to be adventurous and headed to Sea World for the day. We bought season passes online that were $109 for TWO years including parking. What a deal, huh! Tyler was very excited at the idea of seeing whales and penguins.
One of the first things we did when we got there was to take a picture of Shamu. Tyler was a little hesitant while we were in line, very concerned if Shamu was going to bite him. Hah! When it was our turn, he went straight up and asked Shamu straight out: "Are you gonna bite me??".
Shamu shook his head no and Tyler was all good and ready to take a picture. :)
Family picture with Shamu! I wonder if Shamu is meant to bend down like that - must not be comfortable. Plus then it looks like Shamu has knees - haha!
And then a goodbye hug for Shamu.
The rest of the day was filled with Tyler looking at sea life. They have this big Sesame Street Elmo playground there that, surprisingly, Tyler wasn't interested in! He liked the starfish though. I kept calling it a seastar for some reason... chocking it up to lack of sleep!
They have a nice aquarium there as well. It reminded me of some parts of the aquariums at Atlantis from our Bahama trip last year. Almost a whole year ago - my how much things have changed in just one year...
There was even a giant octopus too that Tyler liked as well.
Checking out the petting sting ray pool...
...and jellyfish!
Tyler was really crazily excited to see turtles. He was always on the lookout for them. When we finally found them, they looked SO relaxed sunning on the sand. I wanted to be that turtle!
...moray eels...
...and a manta ray! We totally saw giant ones at Atlantis too!
I got to try out my brand new Ergo baby carrier. I was really excited to try it out, and Katelyn really liked it too. It was so comfortable for both of us and she would knock out quick in it.
The Shark Encounter exhibit has a moving walkway with a glass ceiling with sharks swimming around. Tyler was very serious about watching them.
We even made it to two shows. The first was "Blue Horizon" which required wristbands - but was quite boring and cheesy. It was at the Dolphin Stadium, but there were very few dolphins in the actual show. We did get to see the Shamu show though, and Tyler loved it!
Plus it was a perfect time to nurse Katelyn and have her nap. Too bad there wasn't more shade though.
As soon as the Shamu show started, I was really amazed at how graceful and beautiful killer whales were! They are beautiful to watch.
Tyler was all about it. Especially the "Shamu Slam" which is a hand motion that signals to the whale to splash the audience. People were getting soaked! I wonder when Tyler will start wanting to sit in the splash zone..
As the day got hotter, we headed to the cooler exhibits - like the Penguin Encounter! I have no clue why my sunglasses are on my hat - lame! But Katelyn is super cute in the Ergo!
Tyler really liked watching the penguins. I think one of these visits we'll have to actually pay $$ and let Tyler meet one! I've always wanted to do that anyway...
Penguins!
Altogether, a successful Sea World trip. We left around 5ish and avoided any meltdowns. Yay! Although we definitely needed Sunday to recuperate. Yes, a whole day to recuperate! Monday we sucked it up and headed to Target to get some photos for Katelyn's 6 month shots. I wasn't totally feeling our photographer though, he didn't really seem that comfortable taking photos of babies. He tried though... anyway, here's one from our camera. Who loves the dress?
And here are a couple more. He had a really hard time getting her to look at him.
Even the flower he tried to interest her in was kind of falling apart. Hmm...
I guess she doesn't have to be looking at the camera to be cute!
And one with Tyler. Doesn't she look bigger than him? We took a couple family shots but Tyler had the WEIRDEST look on his face that eh, I'm not sure I'll be posting them here. Hah!
Here's Katelyn in her carseat afterward. Doesn't she look like she's saying: "like my dress Tyler? Isn't it pretty?" Which reminds me, at almost 20 pounds, Katelyn is growing out of her infant car seat! She has a Graco Snug Ride right now that's good only up to 20 pounds. Tyler had a Graco SafeSeat that was good up to 30. Hmmm. Anyway, Target had a sale on the Britax Roundabout this week (which is what Tyler sits in now!) and it happened to be a pink and brown patterned one. Usually $159 on sale for $100. Can't beat that! I think we'll put the Roundabout in the SUV and Tyler's old SafeSeat into the IS. Our little baby is totally growing up!
YUM Sophie.
We also took some photos of Katelyn at home. Makes me wonder if we should be paying $$ to Target when the ones we take at home come out pretty well too. We'll just need to invest in those umbrella flash things though... Anyway.. Here's Katelyn eyeing her 6 month birthday cake! YUM. (It was quite yummy...)
And just a bunch of different ones that Will took because I couldn't choose which one I liked the most.
Smiley!
Hello there...
I know, it's getting really repetitive, but since no one seems to comment anyway (ahem ahem) I'm going to assume no one is reading this ANYWAY so I'll just keep posting the same picture with just tiny bit differences. :)
Katelyn seems to always have her mouth open now. She's always so hungry - total growth spurt happening.
Her hair sticks STRAIGHT up. Very interesting. At least it's nice and soft and fuzzy.
OK, I'll admit this is getting a bit repetitive. Even I'm running out of captions.
Ooh this one is a little different - mouth closed! Cutie pie!
Cute as a button. I can't help it, I like her in pink!
Uhoh, early signs of a future with "Girls gone wild?"
We're almost done I promise..
alright! Thanks for being such a good sport Katelyn (and readers)!
Afterward we put the cake in front of Katelyn and... she watched us eat it. heehee. But seriously, she is voracious! On top of breastmilk, she's eating oatmeal as well as fruit and veggies. She's still not a fan of peas though, and today ate an ENTIRE banana. A real banana. I'm not kidding - she ate it through one of those mesh feeders and would get so upset whenever she finished a piece and we took it away to add more. Grow baby grow! Taller that is...
My parents came by to visit this weekend as well - a really quick visit since they have a super busy schedule. Here's Katelyn with my mom. I bought that cute little mini flower headband from etsy and was really excited - until I found that it left an indent on K's forehead. NEXT!
Did I mention that the pediatrician said that Katelyn looked like her top two teeth were coming in? Gasp. She said they were really swollen, and it would explain the extra drooling, runny nose, and need to BITE everything. I don't see anything yet, but I'm preparing myself...
My parents brought a little Chinese outfit for Tyler to wear. It took quite some coaxing to get him to put it on. Cute huh! heehee. Will said he looks like a Chinese restaurant waiter. LOL!
NO PICTURES please. Hmm... could it be possible that we take too many photos of our kids?...
And a photo of Katelyn with my parents. Tyler was not interested in joining them.
He was busy playing with his cars. Which I'm surprised he still plays with since he is so obsessed with Buzz Lightyear. We decided he would be Buzz for Halloween, but my sister made a good observation...and that is that EVERY little boy will probably be Buzz with Toy Story 3 coming out earlier this year. Hmm.. Tyler hasn't watched Toy Story 2 yet, even though we have it on DVD. He can't seem to get too far into it before he gets scared and insists that he wants to watch Thomas. Thomas is very safe and not scary. No evil Zurg shooting Buzz Lightyear's head off right in the beginning of #2 anyway!
Katelyn is still rolling around. I think I might have caught her once or twice getting on her knees, but it almost seemed like the moment she saw me looking she went back on her tummy. Sneaky Katelyn! No rush though, I'm not ready to bust out the baby gates.
Show off those teeth! I love this Strawberry Fields Forever onesie, but it has such a weak little button on the bottom. Whenever she wears it, we always hear a "POP!" as it pops open. Hmm.. is she too BIG, or is it a weak button... hmmm...
Here's a short little video of Katelyn rolling on the floor:
And chewing on her whale.
She seems to want to move more though. Sometimes when she's sitting up, she'll start moving her butt like she thinks it'll propel her forward. Makes me a little worried because there was a kid at Tyler's school who didn't crawl on her hands and knees - she would just scoot herself on her butt around the room! Ack! Here's a (private) video of Katelyn doing leg exercises during her bath. Let me know if you can't see it and I can add you to the list on YouTube for viewing private videos.
This is Katelyn's 2nd week at daycare! Granted its only two days a week, but still quite a big deal. Here are some photos that one of the teachers sent from last week when they had water play (it was super hot). How cute is that! I only wish she would nap better, but I know it takes some getting used to.
Alright, hope you guys all had a great long weekend! And hopefully I'll feel better soon...
