Big playdate and Dentist appt! (Week 153/15)

This blog started out really excited to be using my new mac book pro that came today.  Until I somehow managed to delete almost my entire entry.  Not so excited anymore.  It's hard to get used to the single clicking mouse!  Sigh.  Now my entry is going to be not as verbose - which you readers will probably be happy to hear. :)

Let's see.  What do I feel like re-writing.  Ugh!  Katelyn has kind of forgotten how to nap.  She used to nap 3-4 hours in the morning, play for an hour or so, and then take another 2-3 hour nap.  She LOVED to sleep and was super happy when she was awake.  This last week she has decided that she wants to stay awake and see what's going on in the world.  Argh!  I really can't (or shouldn't!) complain because she sleeps so beautifully at night.  So wonderfully and long long hours.  but still, I miss those super long naps!

Friday after school we had soccer practice with our playgroup.  It was really cute - instead of going through the City of Irvine (like we did for basketball) we all decided to just get together and do our own soccer practice.  Much more relaxing and casual...and fun!  First thing, jumping drills!  Tyler was horrendous at this, and knocked down the rope connected to the cones every time.  He did get some air though!
Maybe trying it with a ball.... still no luck.  He would stop each time and pick up the cones he had knocked over.  It took forever!
Next was kicking the ball into the net.  This was pretty easy.  I love how the kids all know to line up and wait their turn.  In the basketball class, the older kids (those 5 year olds!) are always trying to cut in line!
Of course, after a little bit, the kids started getting distracted...
And after someone gave Tyler the idea of putting the ball into an upside-down cone and calling it ice cream...soccer was pretty much over.  Tyler ran around the rest of the time asking everyone/anyone if they wanted some ice cream.
Then they started playing with the little mini cones that you put the balls on.  Elbow pads anyone?
Haha - no clue why he was kicking the ball with these on.  They all thought it was hilarious though!
Group picture!  We've got an extra kid in the picture who isn't part of our group - but since we were playing at the park right next to their school - we got a few intruders.  Haha, just kidding!  We're not that snobby, not really!
The kids know how to play duck-duck-goose and it was the first time I got to watch them play.  It's so cute!  This is a short video of Tyler going around the circle.  He gets to Kaden and shouts "DUCK!" and we're all like, huh?, until we realize he meant "goose".  Right after yelling "duck!" Tyler starts running away laughing and totally trips and falls over - hilarious to watch! hahah!  Kaden's mom knows her son well, and is ready to catch him at the end before he jumps and tackles Tyler!

Tyler and his buddy Dylan are seriously like brothers.  They argue but then forget all about it.  For that group picture, Tyler had gone to sit next to Dylan and Dylan had pushed him away.  This made Tyler very sad and he ran away and yelled that Dylan was mean!  Uh-oh!  Dylan's mom made him apologize, and Dylan was sad too because he knew he shouldn't have done that.
But look - all better! - let's hug it out!  Tyler and Dylan are so cute together!  Actually, Tyler and all his little friends are so cute together - I love that they're all so innocent and friendly.
That evening, my friend Melissa came by to meet baby Katelyn!  Melissa used to work at Boeing with me before she moved down to San Diego for another job.  We had a lot of fun memories hanging out during those early years before Tyler was born!
Afterward we met up with a couple of other girlfriends for dinner and drinks.  Very necessary to get out for some grown-up time!  It was actually my first time not being at home to put Katelyn to bed, and Will did a great job.  It probably would have been more fun if 1) I wasn't super tired from Katelyn not having napped much all day and 2) Tyler hadn't kind of freaked out that I was leaving so I had to rush to give him a shower and put him down to bed while Melissa waited!  ... What can I say, Will and I are "clingy" parents - we don't really like to have other people watch our kids for us unless we really have to!  So, Tyler is totally not used to having a babysitter or anything like that.
Ooh, earlier on in the week, I got to hang out with my girls for our own version of late night happy hour.  It's the best because its cheap (we make our own drinks and food!) and fun (sing star on the ps3)!  I love that I can hang out with them and not worry about Katelyn because shes already asleep for the night.  Thank you Katelyn for letting mommy have some time off! :)  Ooh - and I dyed my hair last Friday - can't really tell in these pictures though.
Saturday no pictures got taken.  It was Tyler's last basketball class and we were excited because they were going to play a game!  Unfortunately, Tyler had a meltdown that morning...over his bagel being cut in half.  !!?  He was quite distraught and inconsolable.  Go figure.  I didn't go with them to class because I really wanted Katelyn to have a good nap (3.5 hrs, yay, she CAN still do it!) but Tyler ended up super clingy to Will and did not play.  Oh well.  We start golf next weekend!

Sunday was our playdate!  Our playgroup came over and the kids had a great time.  My oh my do we have a lot of toys - enough to keep all the kids entertained.  Sure, there were some angry moments here and there when sharing issues came up, but all the kids had a great time.  Favorite moment - all of the kids sitting quietly in the yard eating popsicles while the adults chilled inside in the air conditioning.  Haha!
Here's a short video of the kids eating their popsicles.  They are all such tattle tales on each other!  At one point, Dylan is like "Tyler said poo-poo...".  what a rat! haha!  But Tyler does the exact same thing!
Here are some pictures of Tyler playing with his friends.

Trains with Dylan!  The trains were a big hit - especially since Tyler has taken a renewed interest in them lately.  I can't tell you how many times we watched "Hero of the Rails" yesterday since Tyler was home sick from school.
Group picture!  Here's a link to the picture from last year October with the same group.  All the kids have grown!  Too bad we're missing Katelyn and another little boy in this picture - they were sleeping upstairs.
Silly faces!
Heehee, here's Tyler and Maddie (madeline).  What are the chances we have two Maddies in our group. One is Madeline and one is Madison.
Tyler and Arden's brother Evan.  OMG, Evan is Tyler's new BFF.  Evan is almost 5 and Tyler took an immediate liking to him.  Whereas playing with the boys his age, we'd hear arguing and stuff, Tyler LOVED playing with Evan.  I'd be like, why is it so quiet? - and Tyler would be quietly playing with Evan.  They had so much fun together!!  When Tyler sees a picture of Evan, he goes: "I like EVAN!"
Here's Tyler and Arden riding the elephant.  That's the most action that elephant has ever seen, seriously.
So cute - Tyler had such a kick having the kids play in his room!  Not so great for Katelyn, who had ridiculously short naps that day - to be expected though - with 9 other screaming/yelling kids playing in the house!
Some outside shots.  Loving our yard and how kid friendly it is.
Except it was super sunny/hot that day. Go figure.  It was super overcast the day before.  We need more shade...
A picture of me and Katelyn!
Craziness.  So the playdate started at ~10am and we kind of expected it to go until 12pm after we all had lunch.  Time flies when you're having fun!  Amazingly the kids didn't have meltdowns as their naptimes came and went (except one family who left because both of their kids were not doing so great...).  The rest of the crew left a bit after 5pm - just in time for us to start the Lakers game (SIGH!).  Tyler was watching my iPhone and the next thing we knew, he had fallen asleep.  Silly Tyler.  Fell asleep on the floor!
Poor Tyler had a fever the next day (Monday) and he's been home Tuesday and Wednesday.  His fever Monday night (when we realized) was 103!  My poor little baby.  Yesterday afternoon he fell asleep on me, and I was thinking how sweet it was to have him sleeping on me...until he pee'd on me in his sleep.  Haha!  GREAT huh?!  We had been pumping him with tons of fluids and I guess he just couldn't hold it. Lovely.

Katelyn is teething.  I swear it!  Something is going on!  Hopefully that's why her naps have been so off. She has started drooling like crazy (which Tyler did too) and making funny faces like this one.
Here's a video of Daddy's Funny Sounds.  You MUST check out the 1 minute mark when Katelyn starts laughing and snorts!  HAHA!

Katelyn loves loves loves her baths - they're a great way for her to calm down and I love how clean and fresh she is afterward.  I don't give her the baths though- Will does her baths while I'm putting Tyler down for the night.
Today was Tyler's dentist appointment!  I wasn't too worried about it because Tyler is great at brushing and flossing his teeth.  At his last dentist checkup 6 months ago (when he was 2 1/2), the dentist used the term "sugar-bugs" and why it was important to brush your teeth daily.  Now Tyler is all about getting rid of the sugar-bugs with brushing and flossing.  I wish I had his discipline when it came to flossing.

Super cute -> Tyler was actually playing one of the video games in the waiting room.  Seriously first time ever I think.  He's played games on my iphone, but never on a real console with a remote control!  I guess I had been delaying the inevitable.  At first, he was trying to move his character up by moving the entire remote control up, but then he figured it out.
He did GREAT during his teeth cleaning.  They had Tom and Jerry on, and Tyler was totally engrossed in it.  I was a little unsettled since it is SO violent!  Sheesh!  The cartoon started showing an angry bulldog and Tyler didn't like it (he doesn't like any confrontation on TV!) and started protesting.  The dentist started listing other things he could watch and the moment he said "Cars" Tyler was like: " I want to watch Cars!".  Haha!  Like he hasn't already watched it a million times!
Ooh, not sure if I mentioned in a previous post - but Katelyn likes to hold her hands together now.  It gives me a break when she's flailing them around and accidentally scratches me.  I swear, she's super close to turning over - when we go to get her from the crib she's already halfway there looking around at us and smiling!  Tyler rolled over right around 4 months too I think.
And here's a video of Mommy kissing Katelyn.  Love her!
Lastly, 15 week bear picture.
Have a good week everyone!  Also, Will upgraded his DSLR to the Canon 7D two weeks ago and we pre-ordered the iPhone 4 for me - so excited!
