Basketball, 3 month portraits, grandparents and friends! (Week 152/14)

One day late again - not bad!

How's everyone doing? It has been SO hot lately!  The mornings always look so gloomy and I'm hesitant to put Tyler in t-shirt and shorts, but I do anyway because I know how warm it'll get by the afternoon.  I am definitely not a fan of summer - heat actually, in general.  I love cold, gloomy weather - perfect SF or Seattle weather.  Too bad I live in Orange County!

First off, I finally remembered to take a picture of Katelyn with our nanny Cheyenne.  How cute is she!  (I mean both Katelyn AND my nanny!).  This was Cheyenne's 3rd week with us (the first two were short weeks though with the holiday and with me starting work on a Wednesday).  Cheyenne has been GREAT - I can hear Katelyn giggling and laughing from downstairs as I'm working, and Cheyenne is great at putting Katelyn down for naps as well.  Katelyn is a GREAT napper and twice we've had to wake her up from her morning nap when she was hitting 4 hrs.  Her next nap is usually 2 1/2 hours too!  Not sure what's up with daycare though - I've dropped Katelyn off at ICDC a few times now - just for a few hours to get some errands done - and each time she'll nap for a maximum of 45 minutes... if that!  I know it's probably really stimulating and distracting - so much to see!- but then I have a tired baby for the rest of the day.  Sigh.  I wish I could have Cheyenne come every day!
This past week our friend Yao also visited us and met baby Katelyn for the first time!  Yao was actually one of our first visitors when Tyler was born (at 2 weeks!) and he was the one that got us the super cute teddy bear that we use each week for our bear picture!  Thanks again Yao!  And the pink Apple onesie is super cute - especially now that we are venturing over to the dark side... heehee...
Will's parents came back from their 1-month long trip abroad - it was a little weird not having seen them for so long!  Once their new house gets built in Irvine later this year, it'll be a lot easier when there isn't that long drive up to the San Gabriel area.  They brought some cute stuff for Tyler - his favorite was the Thomas and Friends slippers!
Here they are with Katelyn.  She had gotten so big in just the last month!
Saturday was basketball practice again for Tyler.  Tyler was super excited because Auntie Trina came out to see him - it had been TOO long!  We got some playing done in the adjoining park first.
Slide with me Auntie Trina!
Tyler was really into basketball practice that day.  He must have been trying to show off for Trina.  Hah!  Here are the kids all lined up doing drills.  Tyler is always INSISTENT that he have an orange basketball.  No blue one or multi-colored one for him!
Ready position!
More drills.  Some of these drills are so advanced!  Here's Tyler trying to knock down cones with his ball.  It's kind of like bowling?
Coach Trina!  When Tyler started getting a little distracted, Trina (thank goodness!) stepped in and kept him focused. :)
We're not getting much better at shooting baskets though...
But at least this time Tyler got in on the hand-thing they do at the end.  "Bring it in!"  Supposedly this weekend they are going to play a game.  How they are going to do that is BEYOND me, but it should be fun to watch!
Here's Trina with Katelyn!
Love this picture - with my girls and my kids.  One big happy family! :)  Thanks you guys for coming out!
On Sunday my parents came over and brought dim sum for lunch.  Yum!  My mom is so good with Katelyn!  We have a wedding next month to go to and I've already recruited my parents to come over and watch the kids.  It'll be our first night out - can you imagine!?  Aaahhh!!
Here are my parents with my grandmother.  Haha, not sure what Katelyn is doing.
So, last week was Katelyn's 3 month birthday.  I felt a little guilty because by this time for Tyler, we had already taken studio portraits for him 3 times.  We have to at least get Katelyn's milestones!  So we headed to our local Target for some photos.  I was worried about the timing (Tyler is grumpy when he first wakes from his nap - no rushing him!) so as soon as he woke up and got acclimated we headed over there.  I actually had to wake Katelyn from her nap, and she was still sleeping/sleepy on the drive over!  Tyler was very excited about the motorcycle they had in the waiting area.  I hate that I have to wait until next week to get the photos - I'm so impatient!  Good thing they emailed me thumbnails (at the end of the post).
Now that Katelyn has great head control, I can sit her forward facing in my pouch!  How cute is she, she looks JUST like Tyler did here.  Plus she loves looking around in this position.  We get a lot of people commenting that she seems much older than 3 month old - she's so alert and curious and strong!
And the photos from the Target Portrait studio!  Not sure if the photographer was just awesome or Katelyn is just THAT easy to shoot - but I am in LOVE with these photos!
AAHH!

Tyler was great at following directions too.  We bribed him with the promise of Lightning McQueen band-aids.  Seriously.  By the end of the shoot, he had 3 boxes coming to him. Haha.  No problem to me - they're normally $1.87, were on sale for like $1.50 and I had coupons for $0.75 off each!  SCORE!
Awwww love it!
Eskimo kisses!
A few attempts at a family portrait.
Katelyn is so surprised here!
Eh, not feeling my hair here, but Katelyn is smiling so how could I not get this shot?
.. and my FAVORITE by far!  I love this one so much, don't be surprised to see this on our Christmas card this year - haha!
And lastly, Katelyn's 14 week bear picture.
Tyler has been great lately - no more pressuring him to use the potty - he knows that when we ask him to go, it's not a choice - he needs to go!  My favorite is when he needs to poop he'll go, "poo-poo! poo-poo!" and run to the bathroom.  Once Will was helping him with his shorts (there was a button to open) and he was like "poo-poo coming!!".  We were like, dude, can't you head to the bathroom a little earlier? haha!

Katelyn is the cutest thing.  When I go get her from her naps, she's always lying there (on her tummy), pushing up with her arms/elbows and looking around.  She's not even upset, just making coo'ing sounds.  I love it!  If only she could sleep at daycare as well as she can sleep at home.  It's making me really hesitant to send her, even just for a couple hours to run errands!

Have a good week everyone!
