39weeks 1day... and still pregnant! Which reminds me, Will and I are going to have to do some brainstorming for the title of each week's blog - who's over the call-out of how many weeks Tyler is!? I am! We've been doing it this way since that's how we categorize the weekly download of photos from our cameras. Hmm... we'll see what we decide on.
Anyway, I am still pregnant. Very pregnant! I got through the last week - the week that I thought for SURE Katelyn was going to arrive since my OB was out of town - and don't feel any closer to going into labor. But then again, I've already forgotten what contractions feel like (really!) so who knows. :)
Tyler has been a great little kid lately. I had a recent revelation that it does NOT matter to me if he uses the potty at school or not. He's totally potty trained when he's not at school (including when we're out and about!) and that means no diaper changing for us! What does it matter if they still change his diapers at school? - It's not me doing it anyway. I figure, with Katelyn coming, the last thing he needs is more pressure. Plus the teachers say that 1) he's always so busy playing at school he doesn't like to stop to use the toilet and 2) very few of his friends are doing it anyway. So, pee away in your diaper at school Tyler! :)
Not much has been going on this week - I've been taking it super easy - sleeping most of the day - love it! I did get to see Valentine's Day with my girls on Friday though - cute movie! Here's a photo:
Will picked me up afterward and as soon as Tyler saw Trina he started screaming happily. She gave him a quick hug and kiss in the car and left... and Tyler TOTALLY freaked out. Good thing we were able to kidnap her to have dinner with us to calm him down - he did NOT like seeing her real quick and then watching her leave. He has a hard enough time with good-byes with her! :) Here's Tyler and Trina at Pei Wei.
Afterward, we stopped by Pinkberry since it was super close. Tyler has no idea there was a difference - although you'd think he would notice since it's not self serve. I walked with him across the parking lot and as soon as he saw Pinkberry he started getting excited and yelling "YogurtLand!!". He wasn't a fan of their gummies though - they were too sweet and sugar covered. Here's a photo from Pinkberry. I'm sticking with YogurtLand!
Tyler has been a great helper lately as well. He has to help with EVERYTHING - from making his morning oatmeal and cereal, to helping Will make me breakfast burritos! Yes - breakfast burritos. Yum. My new favorite breakfast thing. Thank goodness Will makes delicious ones for me on the weekends with eggs, sausage, hash browns, cheese, AVOCADO (yum), all wrapped in a tortilla. I can't wait until the weekends, haha! Here's Tyler helping Will put the cheese on the tortilla to melt - he likes to sneak in some handfuls to eat as well!
Saturday was Tyler's school's Art Fair - it's basically a fundraiser for the school where they display the kids' artworks and have them for sale. There are also raffle prizes and a silent auction. We bought 5 raffle tickets and Tyler helped us put them into different prize bags. Fun, right? Wrong! After those 5, he wanted 5 more and started getting really angry when we said no. Ugh! Nothing worse than having your kid have a meltdown in front of other parents! haha! So we caved and bought 5 more. Fine fine, we're supporting the school. Sheesh. We never win any raffles though. Anyway, here's a photo of Will and Tyler and the Pre-1 (Tyler's class) rocking chair. The kids in Tyler's class all helped paint it I guess, and it was for sale in the silent auction. Not interested - Tyler has a rocking chair that is only good for smashing his or our toes.
Tyler's art work! $15 for 1 and $20 for 2 (each kid had 2 displayed). Fundraiser, remember?
It was interesting walking around the yard and seeing all the other kids' pictures - some of the older kids are really talented! The kids in pre-4 actually had photos attached to theirs of what they were drawing - it was impressive seeing that the dinosaurs and flowers they drew REALLY looked just like the ones they were trying to draw!
Being super pregnant, I pretty much just chilled with my other mom friends and chatted. :) I had to cancel a play-date with them at our place last weekend since there had been this RSV sickness going around, and it was definitely a better idea to not get any germs lingering in our home.
Tyler had a great time in the bounce house - gosh, he LOVES being in there. How cute is he?! Plus it was cute watching him play with his friends - he'd find one outside and then they'd go together into the bounce house.
And here's one more photo from the bounce house. He played in that thing almost the whole day (quick break to eat a hot dog - which really surprised me that he actually ate a whole one!).
Here's Tyler hanging out with his friend Sutton. I had been thinking of maybe changing Tyler to another preschool, but I'm torn about taking him away from his friends. But they're kids - they'll adapt quickly... right?
This was funny - Tyler took a liking to one of my mom friends' moms - even though it was the first time he met her. They went to make bracelets together at the beading station! Check out Tyler's hodgepodge of colored beads on his bracelet, and check out his friend Maddie's bracelet (all nice and color organized). I guess that's the difference between boys and girls. After he finished his bracelet, he threw it on the table and ran off. Not interested in actually keeping it!
Here's Tyler up close and personal. He has such a round face! :) My mom told me that I needed to make sure Katelyn sleeps on her stomach and to alternate which cheek she sleeps on so her face will be thinner. Sheesh! I'll probably listen though. :)
For dinner we headed to Guppy House - I am a big fan of their minced pork with rice (yum) and Tyler loves the giant cup of strawberries we get for him. We met up with Trina and Greg (Greg was nice enough to bring Tyler a Zoo-themed Thomas train!). Note to self: next time Tyler needs an actual seat instead of open benches - he was running all over the place and driving me nuts! Here's a photo from dinner.
Sunday we headed to dim-sum for lunch with a bunch of my family members who were having dim-sum in Irvine. My 3rd Uncle was visiting from Canada to see my grandmother, so my aunts/uncles got together. Surprisingly, Tyler was really friendly with him, even though he had only met my 3rd uncle once in Dec'07 (here's a photo from that time). Yay Tyler! Here's a photo of Tyler of my 3rd uncle:
And here's one with my mom and dad. Tyler is quite the poser. We need to work on his smile not being so fake- haha. Poor kid, we've trained him so well to smile on command...but now we're not getting natural photos!
And a group picture outside. It's crazy how much my dad and his siblings look alike - they all share varying degrees of similarities: 1st uncle (far left), my aunt (4th from the left) and my dad and 3rd uncle (on the right). Good thing Tyler forgot about how my 1st uncle chased him around in circles the last time we saw him and made him scream/cry and go running straight into the parking lot! Yikes!
Here's Tyler playing the piano. We get comments about how beat up the piano is, and sometimes I look at it and wish it wasn't so old - but hey, my 2 year old likes to use his TRAINS to play the piano sometimes... so it really is the best fit for us right now. :) When can I start piano lessons...
Hope you guys all have a great week. Ok, by next week, I'm SURE I must have some update on Katelyn! I have a doctor appointment tomorrow that I'm sure a discussion of induction will be brought up. Wish us luck!
