Baby Shower!!! (Week 132)

Yikes - talk about being a little behind with this post!  Hope everyone is doing well!  This week my girls Trina and Mariam were wonderful enough to throw me a baby shower!  How awesome are they!?  Back when I first found out I was pregnant, I really didn't think it was necessary to have another one since I already had a ton of baby gear - but they convinced me that if baby #2 was a girl - they were throwing one for me!  Lo and behold, we've got a baby girl and I am very grateful for my girls. :)  My only requirement - something low key and chill - and no silly/lame baby shower games! haha! :)

Since the shower was at lunch, I had Will take Tyler to the park in the morning to wear him out so that we could get an early nap out of him.   Worked like a charm!  Here are a few photos from the park:

Will said Tyler was loving playing around in the sand.  Seeing these pictures makes me realize why he comes home with every pocket/shoe full of sand!  He was crawling around in it!  Who knew sand was so fun - hopefully it's a boy thing, because Katelyn's clothes are going to be too cute to get dirty! :)

Oops this picture is out of place but I'm too lazy to move it (hey I'm 35 weeks pregnant!).  The night before we went to Fukada (yum, one of our favorite Japanese restaurants) with our friends who were in town.  Joan had a great idea for the antsy kids (long wait!) - having them play a game where they take pictures of things!  It was so funny watching Tyler and Jake (who's 4+) go around taking pictures of things we suggested (for example: a foot!  something pink!  a plant!).  This picture below was one Tyler took of "a person taking a picture"!  haha!

Ok! Back to the baby shower!  How cute are these diaper cakes M and T made?  Not only are they adorable (love the pink/brown scheme), but they had delicious cupcakes surrounding them.  Did I mention there were chocolate chips in the cupcakes as well? Yummm...

I had made a really lame registry because I honestly don't need anything - I was just happy to have some friends over to hang out and stuff!  So I was VERY happy and content to get diapers, diapers, and more diapers!  Look at this lovely one that my friend Amy made!

Here are the kids eating outside.  We were really lucky - this was Sunday 1/17, RIGHT before the crazy El Nino-like storm hit southern California.  It started getting pretty cloudy/overcast later in the afternoon, but lunchtime was nice and sunny so we got to enjoy our yard!  How cute are they - all eating. :)

Here's some of us eating tacos outside.  What a great idea - a taco bar!  Everything was fresh and non-oily - my kind of lunch!

My girls T and M with Mariam's husband Frank.  What wonderful hostesses. :)

Tyler and Jake had a lot of fun chasing bubbles.  Really?  I figured they would grow out of it as some point - but still really cute to see them enjoy such simple, pure fun. :)

Another great idea from my girls - scrapbooking!  All my friends had to create a page where we'd put pictures of them later on.  They came out so cute!

Here's Tyler with Auntie Trina making a page for his baby sister. :)

Picture time!  Geez, how pregnant am I?!  I love my girls - thank you guys so much for throwing an awesome shower! :)

It was great seeing some friends that I hadn't seen in a while too - here's Melissa and Lara.

Here's me with Nancy/Wei and Amy.

Oops, forgot that Will should be in the pictures too! haha!

Here we are with Jeff/Joan/Brandon, and Heidi/Chris.  Heidi and Chris had just gotten engaged the night before - how EXCITING!!

With Amy and the other Changs  - Ruby/Howard/Avery.

With Lara (who I can't wait to eat sushi with again after I'm done being pregnant!) and Tiff/Brian.

And with Frank/Mariam and Trina.

And of course another picture with my girls.  Love them!

This picture came out kind of blurry because Will's flash didn't go off! Boo!  Anyway, thanks to all my girlfriends for coming and celebrating our soon-to-be-new addition!  This picture is hilarious because I didn't even notice that Ruby was grabbing Avery's crotch.  Haha!  See, that's how vain I am - I only look at myself really to decide on a picture. :)

Group picture!  I was thinking how interesting it is that this group picture is really different from the group picture we took at Tyler's baby shower.  It's the exact same location - but everything is different (from the curtains/lamp/couch to the people also)!  What a difference 3 years makes.

Here's Tyler with Uncle Tony.  Tyler was pretty adamant to play with Uncle Tony - good thing Antonio didn't mind playing trains with Tyler all day!  The next day when Antonio was over, Tyler was pointing in Antonio's direction (which I didn't realize) and saying "I want to play with that!!" and I was like, what? the couch? the remote control? the book? And then Tyler finally said, really frustrated, "I want to play with THAT MAN!".  HAH!  I guess he didn't remember Antonio's name but was determined for him to play trains with him.  How rude of Tyler!

Here's Tyler with his favorite Auntie Trina - who by the way, we're lucky enough to have as Tyler's godmother!  I didn't capitalize the "g" since it's not in the religious sense (we're not religious and no way Will's parents would let us hand him over to T if something happened to us! hah!) but more in the life guidance/advice/extra parent/helping Tyler be a good person/etc.  I'm really confident in our choice because 1) Tyler LOVES her which I think is really important (you wouldn't want someone that he's whatever about trying to offer him advice and stuff, right?), and 2) Trina adores Tyler and I know will always be there for him as he grows up.  Awww.

Check out Joan's arm muscle - a kid in each arm!

My friend from work Alejandra stopped by with her husband Felipe - they came late so everyone was gone but it was awesome that they still made it all the way from Corona.  This was the first time Tyler had met Alejandra, and, being a smarty that she is, she brought Tyler a Thomas the Train DVD.  Sold!  Tyler had no problem giving (complete strangers to him!) them big hugs!  Gone are the days of bribing with gummies! haha!  Now you have to up it to a Thomas the Train gift! hah!

Yummm. The delicious cupcakes.  Tyler has never been into sweets, so I was surprised when he said he wanted a cupcake (we soon realized it was because his friend Jake wanted one).  Tyler took once bite (ok, well the first one didn't count because it was of the wrapper!) and spit it out. Too sweet for him!  I'm relieved that he's not into sweets (hey, those gummy snacks are made from real fruit juice!), but I'm sure the switch will just flip one day!

Hope you guys had a great week!
