Hey everyone! What a busy weekend we had this week - and lots of fun too! It started out early with dinner at Bucca di Beppo with our friends Stacy/Jennifer and their son Kaden. Funny moment - while we were sitting there, Tyler picked up his plate and said: "this shape is an oval!". ?! I was like, sorry what? and he repeated it! Wow, they are totally learning stuff at school! Here's Tyler and Kaden chowing down on their pizza.
Saturday morning we headed to the La Habra Children's Museum - they are part of a promotion where the first Saturdays of each month is free - and I love free! Plus it was an event with this Mom group I'm part of (AAWM - Asian American Working Moms) so it was good to see some of the other members and their kids again. The museum was a bit dated (especially compared to Pretend City) but Tyler LOVED riding and driving the OCTA bus.
He's had this weird obsession lately with buses. When he sees one while we're driving, he'll yell out 'BUS!' and insist that we follow it. He didn't really like having to wait his turn to be the driver again though - but he's learning to be patient!
There was also a Model Train Village that was really a hodgepodge of different trains - they had a Thomas setup that had Mickey and Donald watching over them from a tower. Hodgepodge! They did have nice little buttons around the display for Tyler to press that would trigger little things like lights and doors.
It got pretty busy in the museum and then it got really hot - so we ended up going outside for some fresh air. They had topiary shaped like dinosaurs that Tyler thought was really fun to play around.
Hiding from someone Tyler?
Afterwards we headed straight to a birthday party in Lake Forest at Chuck E. Cheese's! It was mine AND Tyler's first time and it was pretty fun! Tyler was scared first of the big Chuck, but then seemed ok when he was dancing around and waving.
He was ALL about the rides though. There were so many different things for him to do - all for a token each! He really liked to ride the mini carousel - he loves riding horses!
This next ride he got to drive with Chucky, and it would print out a (really bad quality) photo of them.
Mini air hockey! Tyler had no idea what he was doing at first, but then got the hang of it. It was cute watching him all seriously (ok not that seriously) try to block the puck!
Here's Tyler playing air hockey and scoring on himself. It was funny, whenever Will would let the puck score on his side, Tyler would run over to the other side to get it and hit it back!
Toddler whack. Super cute - a kid version!
Here's a video of Tyler playing the Toddler Whack!
Playing basketball with Will. They tried skeeball too... unsuccessfully. By this time, Tyler was excitedly collecting the tickets that would print out. I hate those stupid tickets and trying to redeem them for junk!
Tyler's favorite ride at the Chuck E Cheese - the Horse Derby! The game always ended really quick because he wasn't steering correctly (ok, not steering at all) - but he loved that it would move back and forth and you could make the horse jump too!
Pew Pew! Tyler likes the shooting games - but never hits anything - but he doesn't know that! I was glad to head home though, what a tiring day!
Here are some random photos from the week. Tyler with his dolphin bath toy - he'll say: "I'm swimming with the dolphins! I see the fishies in the water!" He remembers the Bahamas trip!
We bought this Dora Strawberry bubble bath - double whammy for Tyler - he loves Dora AND strawberries! Problem with bubble baths is that we have to rinse him off afterwards, and Tyler has this weird phobia of the shower head - so this was a good time for us to re-introduce it to him - and he didn't freak out this time! baby steps!
Sunday morning we headed bright and early to UCI for the Junior Diabetes Walk event - an event that was planned by one of our friends. It was a huge event and there were a ton of people there! We didn't do the walk but enjoyed their fun kid activities. :) Here's Tyler and myself with Elmo (who kind of smelled). But it was great - it was Tyler's FIRST time that he wasn't scared and running away from a character! Yay!
The boys had a great time dancing to the live music. There was a stage in the kids' area with kid bands - we were really impressed with their talent! These are like 12-14 year olds that were totally rocking out, and had girls cheering for them also! Sweet!
Here's Tyler and Kaden hiding from Will - behind a little curb! They think they're so clever. Their favorite toy that day was acutally these little plastic clips that were used to hold the table cloths to the tables. Weird!
Bounce houses! Tyler loved it! Love this picture!
And there was an inflatable slide too! I was pretty sure Tyler wouldn't go on it - he's usually too afraid - and he didn't even go on the slides once at his birthday party this year. But with his buddy Kaden, he had no fear! Here's Tyler going down - yay Tyler!
This little girl was so nice - she would help Tyler climb up the stairs and help him off on the side. What a great big sister! Tyler loved it and would jump off and get back on again - and laugh and shriek! It was awesome!
... until he face planted. He actually was totally unphased! I freaked out watching this but he was fine, and even jumped up and said Yeah! when we asked if it was fun. It's hilarious that Will caught this moment on his camera though. HAHA!
Here's the video of Tyler on that run - he face plants at the end - but still yells "Yeah!" about having fun!
And lastly, Tyler and Kaden supporting the cause! How cute are they in their little shirts!
Here are some pictures from my ultrasound last week - our little girl is still a little girl. (whew). I thought she looked cuter than before, she's more.. eh.. fleshier? It may be my last ultrasound though for this pregnancy. sniff sniff.
This one she has her hand on her forehead! Doh!
And lastly, girl picture of the week from YogurtLand! Yum!
I'll end with a cute video of Tyler jamming to one of the songs from Glee! He's got moves!Have a great week everyone!
