Tyler's Atlantis adventure day 6! - Paradise Lagoon and the Current (Week 120)

Day 6!  Friday!  Uhoh- the realization that our trip is winding down is starting to hit.  Surprisingly, I'm not too bummed - even though everyday has been amazing, you can only take so much sun! :)

Here's a photo of Tyler's living arrangements.  We had brought a Thomas blowup mattress for him (took up a lot of luggage room!) but thank goodness they had soft cushiony couches that were perfect for us to put together as Tyler's bed (great tip from my older sister Grace!).  Tyler LOVED having his own bed next to ours and would crawl in and out it all the time.  Bad thing - he'd wake up first thing in the morning - look over at me and say: "Dora PLEASE!".  Ahhh!

Today we decided to hit up the Paradise Beach at the Cove - one of the towers we hadn't visited yet.  The Cove Towers are the newest towers built at Atlantis and include the Cove Towers and the Reef.  These are both identical tower - high rise luxurious condominiums - and the Cove is a hotel while the Reef is a time share.  These are the FANCY towers, and even have pools that are only for Cove guests.  Hmph - snobby!  Luckily their beautiful beach (which I had researched as the best beach at Atlantis) is open to all Atlantis guests.  Here we are checking out the Cove.

The beach was REALLY beautiful.  Calm, and clean and soft sand.   And lots of fish!  Tyler wasted no time in making a run for the water.

The beachside chairs even had nice cushions on them - something the pool/beaches at the Royal Towers didn't have.  Ahh - so this is how the rich and famous vacation! hah!

The water was so perfect and beautiful.  Tyler loved swimming around and playing "shark" with us.  We'd make the Jaws foreboding tune and he'd 'chase' us through the water until he caught us!

Playing with Auntie Trina and the waves!

More sandcastles!  The sandcastles that day were much more elaborate than the rest - there was even a big fortress that kept the water at bay.  We buried Trina in the sand, and then after she came out Tyler announced it was his turn!  He actually let us bury him in the sand too!

Lots of fish here as well - but the water was a bit murky.  Will and I actually got to do some snorkeling while Tyler hung out with Trina.

Really?  Can a vacation view get more beautiful than this?

Tyler snuggled up with me and slept a nice long afternoon nap.  By now we were smart enough to have an extra chair just for him. It is so relaxing sleeping next to the ocean!

On the way out, we checked out the Cove again.  Even their bathrooms were ridiculously luxurious!  Will and Tyler were inside the bathroom for a while since Tyler insisted on getting a lot of sand out of his, eh, crevices! :)  One main thing that was different about the Cove was that it was a very modern luxurious look; whereas the Royal Towers had the over-the-top lost-city-of-Atlantis luxurious look.

We hiked back to the Royal Towers - quite a long walk - and sucky since we couldn't cut through the 'adults only' pool.  Not even walk through it since we had Tyler with us!  Hm, I wonder what kind of shenanigans were going on in there!

Our destination?  The Current!  Ooh, we were totally looking forward to going on this - I was a little concerned since every employee I had spoken to told me that pregnant women were not allowed on this.  Really? How bad could it be?!  It's just a current, right?  I snuck on anyway - but had Tyler sit with Trina the first time through.  OMG he loved it, and it wasn't even really that bad. Yes, it's quite bumpy and fast at some points, but nothing too crazy.

Here's a video of part of the Current.  How fun was this?!

I can't even tell you how much Tyler loved this ride.  He would say "again!" after a wave hit us, or yell "I want more tunnel!" whenever we went under a bridge.  And he was SO cute, sitting there holding the handles all tightly!

Here's a video of the rapids part of the Current.  It gets quite turbulent!:

Tyler loved the ride so much that he was even willing to sit with Will for a ride through while Trina and I slept/napped/read!  That's really saying a lot - seriously...!

Here's a video of the wave part of the ride.  Keep an eye on the crazy force of the wave coming out towards you!  It's pretty scary to see!  The first time we floated through, I was like - Ahhh! I don't want to be right in it's path!  The dude helping us looked at me, laughed, and pushed my tube INTO the oncoming wave.  Ok, so he didn't know I was pregnant, but hmph!:

Here's Tyler checking out the Mayan Temple shark tunnel.  There are two rides that end up in a tube going through the shark tunnel - one is a really steep single person drop, and the other is a single or double tube ride called the Serpent slide.  I was determined that Will do one of these since I couldn't.  But, by the time we got out of the Current, they had closed for the day.  Darn!

Ben and Jerry's stop on the way back.  Yum!

Tyler was VERY excited to get his kiwi strawberry sorbet. :)  :

That night Trina did major Nanny duty by helping Will change a yucky diaper. Heehee.  Thanks Trina - that's love! :)  One thing we figured out that night - Tyler is very suspectible to reverse psychology!  On his Dora show, there's a fox (named Swiper) who is always trying to steal things.  You stave him off by saying "Swiper, no Swiping!" 3x.  This works wonders on Tyler!  If Will says "Tyler, no hugging!", Tyler gets all giggly and excited and makes a few little steps towards Will and stops.  By the time Will says this the third time, Tyler is in full Swiper mode and attacks Will with hugs!  Hahah! love it!
