Tyler still loves his YogurtLand - they've changed their spoons from the hard plastic ones to the biodegradable ones (big change!) but Tyler didn't seem to notice. He's still as messy as ever when it comes to eating from his own cup.
Kareen came down for a visit this past weekend for work and to see Tyler! Tyler is much more sociable now, and he loves to play with Kareen. Next step is to get him to say 'er-ee' which means 2nd aunt in Chinese. Shouldn't be too far in the future though - he's been really good at copying lots of words that we say. The other night he was saying the colors of his nightlight!
Tyler's always been shy around my dad since he talks so loud (hehe) but he is easily bribed with toys. :) Here's Tyler playing with my dad.
My whole family came down this weekend to have dinner with us since Kareen was in town. Well everyone except my older sister and her family that are in Houston. Can't wait to visit them in April (before Tyler turns 2 and we have to pay for a plane ticket for him!) I like how Tyler is pretending to play his toy trumpet in the photo. :)
Saturday we hung out with our friends Jeff/Joan who are in town from Taiwan. We also got to hang out with our friends Antonio and Yao too! Tyler always loves to play with Jeff/Joan's son Jake! Only problem is that Tyler doesn't like to share his toys - and everything is 'MINE!' when other kids play with his toys. Hmmm... not good. Hopefully he'll start understanding sharing soon... Here's Tyler playing with Jake and Brandon. They are so cute together!
I got this big stuffed lion on clearance at Walmart ($10!) that can hold up to 140 pounds in weight! Tyler wouldn't sit on it though, and would just point at it say 'Rawwr!'. It wasn't until Jake sat on it that Tyler wanted on (typical Tyler...). Here's a cute photo of both of them on the lion.
We all had dinner at Stonefire Grill - boy was it packed that night! Tyler really liked playing with our friend Teresa's daughters. He just likes girls in general I think! They were really cute playing with him and making him laugh. I snapped a photo of him when he was walking around rubbing his tummy. heehee. It's really rare that he doesn't have a onesie on, and he must have known too since he was showing off his belly. :)
This weekend also marked Tyler's first haircut! It was quite a difficult event. :) We went to 'A Star is Born', which is a kid haircut place in Mission Viejo. I had read great reviews about them but none of that mattered since Tyler was totally not wanting to get his haircut. He didn't even care about the little planes and trucks he could sit in. We ended up having to hold him in our arms while the stylist cut away. So now his haircut is kind of crooked. Oh well - I'm just happy it's not so long anymore! He's so unhappy in this photo!
Afterwards, he was so mad about the haircut that he sprawled flat on his back and threw a huge tantrum. He was SO mad! They even snapped a photo of him, saying that it was a 'cute' memory. haha. I guess? Here's his certificate for his first ever hair cut with a lock of his hair.
When he finally calmed down, he started playing with this plastic playhouse they had there. And wouldn't leave...he would sit inside and pat the seat next to him, point to Will and say 'sit? .. sit?' until Will squeezed in there with him. heehee. Now I want to buy him one - but they are so expensive! His favorite part was the working doorbell - he kept pressing it and shaking his head back and forth to the ding-dong sound.
Weekly picture with the girls... that got crashed by Trina's dog Beary! heehee! Beary is such a cute dog - I usually don't even like dogs, but he has a great personality and is SO clean!
One more time.
My in-laws came down this weekend - Tyler LOVES his grandpa! He'll yell 'Yeh-Yeh!' (Chinese for Grandfather) and always want to be held hy him. It's great! They were looking at some property in the area - hopefully they'll move down soon to be closer to us and Tyler.
Lastly, a video of Tyler at school. It's really funny. There were a couple kids pulling trucks around and Tyler wanted to join in the fun - but he wanted to keep these bean bags on the truck while he pulled it around. But everytime he pulled the truck, they'd fall off, and he'd have to stop and put them back on again. Finally he just gave up. :)Have a good week everyone!

It's always good to see you guys and see how much Tyler has grown, and it was nice to see all the kids playing together.
Chang's Irvine Daycare??
:)
HAHAH I love that after he realized that the beanbags are NOT going to work, he goes and puts them back on the table where he got them. You can tell he has a very thorough thought process. Engineer!
And he's a team player. No beanbags left behind! Always demanding participation (from Daddy)!
WHOA i just went back in your archives (LOVE that i can do that, your cataloging of Tyler's growth is so useful! heh) and checked out Tyler when he was Avery's age right now (30 ish weeks). Man he was a big boy back then too, 29 inches at 6 months! I think Avery measured 26.5. Tyler definitely got his motor skills faster, pulling up at 7.5 months! Avery's still mastering her sitting up :P little miss lazybones! use those muscles!
i hate missing hanging out with family. sucks about being all the way out here. that trumpet looks very familiar! can't wait til you guys get out here! tons of stuff to do!
What a little engineer...stacking the bean bags...better be careful...he might have 'the knack!' so.....mammoth...here we go! :)
awww! It was fun hanging out with you guys!!! Until the next time (when Tyler turns 2!)?
Reminds us of Ricky's first howling haircut. The second time, we went with cousins and it was much better.
