Tyler has been his usual curious self, and his new favorite toy this week was ... my running shoes! He decided that he was going to try to walk around in them - but was very unsuccessful. It was still cute watching him try though. :)
This weekend we went to South Coast Plaza to meet up with some friends. We did some mini-shopping at Ikea (hand puppets!) and at the Apple Store (a new sturdier case for my iPhone since Tyler is constantly dropping/biting my phone). Here we are riding the escalator up.
The Apple store is always so packed! We kept Tyler occupied by playing some games on the computers there. We were playing this Dora the Explorer game, and I didn't know how to change songs. I looked away while Tyler tapped on the keyboard - and he somehow made it watch something else! Ha!
As I was carrying Tyler on the way out, he suddenly started yelling excitedly when he saw this giant toy giraffe in a window. I put him down and he immediately ran yelling to it and just stood there staring at it. And I didn't buy it for him! Wow! Go Kathy!
Here we are with our friend Ruby and her little girl Avery. The last time we met up (at Lawry's Carvery also!) Ruby was still pregnant and I rubbed her tummy. heehee. Avery is so adorable - she was so chill and just hung out in her stroller - I don't remember Tyler ever just relaxing at that age! It definitely gave me some baby fever. :)
Here's Tyler with his $7 South Coast balloon. Why we spent so much money on a balloon is beyond me, but he was so excited to see it and walk around with it. They even have balloons that are $10 each with lights inside! $10!!
Saturday all day I was busy in San Juan Capistrano for a team-building Eco-Challenge event with my Leadership Development Program from work. It was pretty fun to do all these different challenges in the woods and get to know the other people in the program. Will had to take care of Tyler ALL day! Here's a picture of me with some members in our sub-group. I can't wait to take Tyler camping and stuff!
Park day! We were supposed to go take Tyler to get his 18 month photos taken, but we had to reschedule because he had this big red healing scab on the side of his nose. Tyler loves the little park down the street from our house.
Tyler can even sit on the teeter-totter all by himself! Will said he had let him do it while I was at the Eco-Challenge the day before and Tyler was fine. I know I would never have let him sit by himself though... Here's a video of Tyler squealing on the teeter totter.
Also, Tyler loves driving the little steering wheels at the park too. Here's him and Will - speed racers!

Tyler is still learning to blow bubbles. He can do it once in a while, but most of the time he just ends up getting all the soap stuff on/in his mouth. Yuck!
Last week we even took Tyler out for dinner one night to meet up with friends! I'm always proud of us when we deviate from our normal schedule. :) We met up with our friends at Yardhouse at the Irvine Spectrum. Good thing it was a Wednesday night, and not a weekend when it would have been packed. Tyler was actually really good during dinner! Here's a photo of part of the group - Will, Tyler, me, Tony, Jimmie and Anthony. It was fun to see them!
And lastly, I got to hang out with my girlfriends also this past week. We had a much bigger gathering this week than normal - which is great! I think it's so important to have good and close girlfriends even when you're married with kids. It takes effort but oh so worth it. I love some of these girls!
And we'll sign off with a quick video of Tyler enjoying his bath time. I remember when it was such a battle to get him in and out of baths. Now he's so eager to get in to play, up until every last drop of the tub has emptied. He thinks its hilarious to pour water on his own head, but gets upset when we do it to wash his hair. Plus when we're shampooing him up, he says 'ouch. ouch.' ?? How can this be painful?
Have a good week everyone!

sigh! they grow up so fast! last time i saw tyler was only what, 8 months ago, now he's stretched out into a little person, with so much personality! You and Will have done such a great job, its so amazing.
Dude, Will's camera is freakin awesome. You must send me the original on that picture with the four of us, i love it!
Hey - how are you counting Tyler's months? by the week, or by the day of the month? for instance, he was born July 9th, so do you count 18 months as 72 weeks, or you count 18 months at on Jan 9th? I get so confused. Like Avery was born 8/3, so would she be 6 months at 6x4=24 weeks, which would be next week 1/25, or would she be 6 months on 2/3? i know its a difference of 9 days, but it really annoys me that there's gray area. LOL
Wow, fancy balloon. BTW, Uncle Will knows San Juan Capistrano very well.
