Tyler is 11 months, new nanny this week

hello hello! First off, wanted to say CONGRATS to Olivia and Chinson on their little baby girl and welcome Alexis into the world! Yay, more friends for Tyler! :)

Today Tyler is 11 months. Whaa? I can't believe it, and the one year mark is just around the corner. It was bound to happen I guess. I can't even believe I'm still nursing - if you had asked me when he was born if I would still be nursing, I'd say 'no way!'. Happy 11 months Tyler, how cute are you!? We've decided on a Pikachu theme for his 1st Birthday (I know, how unsurprising..) Invitations are going out this week - we're going to keep it a smaller affair, since Tyler can only handle so many people at once! But seriously, if you are reading this - give me a call - Tyler loves visitors!
Last week was my nanny Olga's last day. I was suffering from a bit of separation anxiety, I must admit. She's seen Tyler grow from when he was just learning to sit up and crawl, to now cruising furniture and opening all the drawers. I could tell she was going to miss him too. I know we'll keep in touch with her for sure though, and she'll be our first call whenever we want a date night! Here's Tyler and Olga. I honestly have no idea how anyone will compare to Olga, but I am going to be optimistic. Katelyn, our new nanny, started Friday and so far, so good! Friday was more of a getting-to-know Tyler day, and Tyler decided that day to be super fussy. It was weird, he was just grumpy all day and I was worried he was going to scare her off! I don't know if it's possible, but I think he knew something was different, and that this new person wasn't Olga. Really! Today he was much better though with Katelyn, and he even let her put him down for his first nap without having to go for a walk! Here's Tyler and his new nanny. I mentioned last week that she's a UC Berkeley student home for the summer, but did I mention she was her high school valedictorian as well??
Tyler came home from daycare last week in the daycare's clothes. He had had quite a day painting and we forgot to leave extra clothes. After we took off his t-shirt, I cracked up when I saw his little onesie underneath. It's like a wifebeater onesie! hehee. I've actually never ever put Tyler in a tank before, but after seeing this, I just might for the summer. Check out those chubby arms and thighs! This past weekend we headed up to Monterey Park to see Will's parents. Tyler was crawling around on their hardwood floors and Will's dad was swiffering the floors to make them extra clean for Tyler. Tyler took one look at the swiffer, and was like - NEW TOY! He LOVED that thing, wouldn't let go of it for a long time, and kept moving it back and forth.
Just another shot of Tyler with Will's dad. We gave Will's dad an early Father's day gift and card. The gift was a framed photo of Tyler holding a sign that said: "Happy Father's Day Grandpa!" Seriously, it came out really cute, and may just be our standard gift from now on. :) ... so don't be surprised! HAHA! (By the way, Tyler's bib says something like: if you think I'm cute, you should see my dad!)Tyler was really great the whole time we were there actually. He was super grumpy in the morning (missing Olga from the day before?) and I was worried he was going to be really unpleasant when we got there. But he was great, and let everyone hold him! He is such a temperamental baby. He'll be crazy upset one moment with someone, and if I hold him the next second he'll smile back at the person who he was just crying at. I was telling Katelyn today that he's bipolar, heehee. We ran a lot of errands this weekend, and one of them included checking out a new stroller for Tyler. I've been kind of wanting a stroller that had that front bar going across, so Tyler could have snacks there or whatever, but haven't really convinced Will that it's necessary. We put Tyler in one at Babies'R'Us and he was so curious about that bar, especially the hole to put drinks in. That's him sticking his arm into that hole as far as possible. ... We didn't buy the stroller.Tyler is still loving my cell phone. Will has agreed to get me the new iPhone next month (YAY!!!) and I will DEFINITELY not be letting Tyler play with that one. I'm so excited!Doesn't it look like Tyler is reading you a story here? Except for the little detail that the book is upside down...We checked out our little park again this weekend and Tyler got to ride the teeter-totter and the slide! He was very unimpressed with the teeter-totter... but really enjoyed the slide again. That slide was quite painful to go down actually.Tyler has learned an action! He's been clapping his hands for a while now -we would always say 'pai pai so' (Chinese for clap your hands) and clap, and he'd clap with us laughing! We realized he can do it now with us just saying it! Awww, Will and I are discussing what phrase we should teach him next... Let us know, with your comments, what we should try to teach him next!
Oh, and he's much better at using a sippy cup now. They actually give him some with water at daycare, but I never really try it at home. He was voracious today with it! He was even drinking directly from a cup (I held it to his mouth of course). Sniff sniff, all signs that he is growing up...
Here's a video from this week of Will playing with Tyler after his bath. This is just like the video I posted of Tyler at 18 weeks (4 1/2 months) - still the same reaction to the same game! heehee. Except now he is MUCH chubbier. heehee.

48 week bear picture!
Have a good week!

Wow, time flies. Wish we could make it to pikafest! Thanks for the warm wishes. Joey is fun to help distract the parents. Good luck with Katelyn!
