Hi Everyone! So this past week Tyler had his 9 month checkup with his pediatrician (although he turned 9 months the week before) and I was really excited to see how much he had grown. Here are his stats!
weight: 21 pounds 12 ounces (75%)
height: 30 inches (90%)
head circumference: 17 inches (15%)
Tyler has been consistently long, with a small head circumference. His weight percentile has gone down though - I still remember when he was 90th for both weight and height! He did pretty well at his appointment - and only got one shot this time. I love our pediatrician (Dr. Galang), she is so friendly and makes us feel so comfortable. I always go prepared with a list of random questions for her and she'll answer them one after another like *bamn bamn bamn*. Here's a photo of one of the nurses weighing Tyler - he looks like he's interested in how much he weighs too! (He's completely naked by the way, and the first photo I took, would NOT be safe for work!) So Tyler has 5 teeth. So many! I miss his gummy smiles - especially because his little baby teeth are quite funky looking. They don't seem straight, and a side one seems to be set pretty far behind the front one, bla bla bla. He's still putting everything into his mouth for a quick nibble. Here he is sharing his nibbling with Will. This is a blurry picture but I thought it really represented his teething habits now. As long as he's not biting me! I've been wanting to try out this Japanese restaurant near our house since I had a coupon for Buy 1, get the second Entree free! It was kind of overpriced, but not so bad when you're only paying for one meal! :) Anyway, the waitress brought Tyler a sippy cup with a straw once we sat down. I was like, ??, does he look like he can drink from a straw by himself? He's just barely starting to get the hang of a sippy cup! We let him play with it though, and the picture does make it seem like he has some clue of what he's doing! Tyler loves to play with straws too, so we've kept a few of those individually wrapped boba straws in the car - those are really pointy though... Here's Tyler in our car with his favorite car toy - this little clackety-clack tiger. I remember buying it and thinking that it was way too big for him to hold, and now he goes to town with it. I'm a big fan of getting Tyler to nap when we're making the drive somewhere - gets him a little rest before we get to our sensory-overloaded destinations. Plus then he's not crying and throwing a tantrum (man, sometimes he really hates being in his carseat!) I stopped by Tyler's daycare last week for a visit and got there just as they were taking the infants out for a stroll since it was such a beautiful day. They had 2 strollers out with the babies, and I got a few pictures of Tyler. They were so cute on there! (By the way, it was pajama day, which is why everyone is in their PJs!) Afterwards, they had a sensory activity which was basically a big bucket of chex mix! woah, the babies LOVED it! They were all crowded around and digging in. It was so cute to watch! Last Thursday Will and I had a date night. GASP! Yes! I can count on 2 fingers the number of dinners we've had without Tyler. One was from the night that we were away when we went to Vegas, and the other was once when we had friends in town from out of the country. I've honestly accepted that our lives are different now, and I'm totally fine with it. However, our wonderful amazing daycare had a 'Parents Night Out' that day where they watching the kids until 9pm for just an extra $20! Wow! So Will and I grabbed the opportunity. We both left work a little earlier and saw a movie (Horton Hears a Who - what! - there was nothing else out...) and then had an early dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (we got a $25 gift card in the mail!). Man, I forgot how pricey Ruth's Chris is, and for that $$, I'd much rather have myself some Prime Rib! It was nice though, having a dinner just Will and myself. :) Here we are in front of the restaurant (this is the Irvine location, right down the street from where we used to live!). Afterwards we went to pick up Tyler before 8pm. I know, we could have had him stay there until 9pm, but I really missed him! When we got there though, Tyler was already sleeping! Here he is with Zane - another infant in Tyler's class. Zane is actually 1 day younger than Tyler, but WAY bigger - he's easiest the biggest baby in the class - but that's because his parents are super tall (his mom is like over 6'!). I picked up Tyler and he barely woke up! They do a light swaddle for naps, so I kept him wrapped. I felt like I was carrying a little burrito. He was so cute! This past weekend we headed to the Irvine Farmer's Market near UCI since Will needed to get his haircut. There was this huge line for roasted corn - and it was WELL worth the wait. Delicious! I can't wait to go back and get it again. New toys! I forget if I mentioned last week, but Tyler got some new toys! I only got a picture of one of them today though. This is his new John Deere tractor truck with little blocks. The little piggy in the front moves up and down and the truck makes a clicking sound as you push it. There are little blocks that fit into the truck bed. Tyler really loves banging the little blocks together!
Random picture - we had Lee's Sandwich this past weekend. Tyler can eat anywhere! We went to see my parents this past weekend as well. Tyler has so many piano-like toys, that I figured it would be cool to let him play with a real one! Here he is banging on the keys with me. Man, I realized that my piano playing sucks - I stopped when I was 7 (switched to violin) but I sure do wish I was better at piano. We're still working on getting a piano in our living room. Here's Tyler with my sister-in-law Michelle. And with my parents. Ooh, so on a stop to Lowe's, we decided to strap Tyler into one of their kid-friendly shopping carts. I was worried that he was too small and would slip right out, but we were able to tighten the strap around him. He is so tiny in the cart! - and he totally knew to put his hands on the steering well too!
Pikafamily - that's Tyler's pika that has been collecting dust on the changing table (that we never use) in his nursery. Lastly, 41 week bear picture! Hope everyone has a good week!

So many activities! It is great that you guys can bring him pretty much anywhere now.
The Chex pictures are great. I don't think any kids will be taking Tyler's food in future school settings...he is serious when it's eating time!
Aww, you guys are too cute, I love that there's Parents' night out at the day care! I dunno about you but 21 pounds at 9 months sounds like a big boy to me! only 75% percentile? Is that a toddler stroller that you use for Tyler? I'm starting to look into strollers and its so confusing! Do i get a car seat + stroller combo for when they're infants and then when they grow out of the carseat then they can use the stroller, or am i going to have to buy another stroller when they grow out of that too? Tyler's stroller looks like an umbrella stroller. are those for 1+ year olds and you're using it cuz he weighs enough?
TT: Yeah when it's time to eat, Tyler can be extremely focused and uses two fingers to pick up small pieces of food like individual Cheerios.
Ruby: Yes, he's in a Maclaren 'quest' style - Kate Spade umbrella stroller. It really depends on the size of the cars that you have. Some of the car seat/stroller combos can be very large/heavy even when folded up. It can take up your entire trunk space which is bad if you ever need to go to Costco or grocery shopping. We had smaller cars before so we focused on compact/light strollers. Two separate discussions on car seats and strollers is really needed. Give us a call if you have any questions.
Joan: We're anxiously waiting to hear when you have number 2! Keep us posted! We can't wait to see you all soon in the future!
Kareen: Hope to see you and Andy again soon so you can play with Tyler again!
