39 weeks!

Hey everyone! Tyler got his 4th tooth this past week - but not the one you'd expect. He had his bottom front two come in first, and then next was his top front left tooth. With all the biting he's been doing lately, we were expecting his top front right tooth to come in, but instead out popped the tooth to the left of his front left tooth! Did that make sense? I'm not worried though (I've done my research!) but I just think its funny to see.

Last week I had a playdate with some other mommies that had their little ones in 2007 as well. It just so happened that our playdate was at the Watermarke - the condominiums we used to live before we moved! I was really excited driving back there - excited to see my old parking spot, and our old place. Here's Tyler and his new friends - Sawyer and Carsyn. Meeting with these moms (and talking with my older sister that day) made me realize that we REALLY needed to get Tyler out of our family bed. None of us were getting any good, solid sleep! Anyway, Sawyer and Carsyn are a couple months younger than Tyler and can't crawl yet - so Tyler really used it to his advantage. He kept crawling over to each of them and grabbing their toys and crawling away. Luckily the other moms thought it was cute, tsk tsk Tyler.
Sleep training started that night - Wednesday I think? - and its been going great so far. Tyler is doing 9-10 hours a night and I am stoked! Of course, I'm also bummed that he's no longer cuddled up with us all night, but we're actually getting uninterrupted sleep! I still sneak over there in the morning and bring him over to cuddle with us in the mornings.

Speaking of mornings - Will and I attempted to head out to check out the Jeffrey Open Space Trail Saturday morning here in Irvine, but ended up at Denny's. How does that happen!? Tyler was interested in checking out the menu too. :)
We've discovered (accepted?) that Tyler really dislikes carrots. Strange because he used to not have any problems with it before! I'm trying not to stress about him not getting enough fruits/vegetables, but I can't help it. He is such a fickle eater, WHERE does he get that from??!! Right now he seems to like green beans and peas, and will eat bananas and peaches. He still loves his cheerios, kix and grilled cheese sandwiches! Oh yes, and also freshly made waffles. They have to be fresh and crunchy or he's not interested. He also likes the little cheesy goldfish (although, maybe that's more of a snack for me!)Saturday morning (after Denny's and a walk to the nearby CLOSED post office), we headed to the Discovery Science Center. My friend Julie does PR for them, and got us some free tickets. I wanted to go since one of their exhibits - the Bubble Show - was ending this past weekend and I really wanted to see it. Will and I have been talking about checking out the Science Center since even before Tyler was born - I was really excited to finally get a chance to go. Here we are outside with a Rubik's Cube dude! - they are having a rubik's cube competition in a couple weeks!
Wow the place was packed and C H A O T I C . Here we are at the entrance to the Tiger exhibit. They had a cool mist going and Tyler was really into it!
Ooh, preparing for Tyler's first dentist visit! This week we also started 'brushing' Tyler's teeth. He actually seems to enjoy it - I have this little scrubber that goes over my finger and I just scrub away all over his mouth. The first time we did it he seemed pretty confused, but I had Will brush his teeth at the same time so Tyler wouldn't be afraid. Gotta make sure Tyler doesn't get any cavities!
the Bubble show. Seriously, it was pretty amazing. Fan Yang is a Guiness Record holder when it comes to bubbles. He was doing some crazzzzy stuff - stuff that made me go Oooh and Aahh and Woowww! I think at one point it was so beautiful it almost brought tears to my eyes. How lame am I! We sat right in the front row and had a great view (aside from the kids in the floor section who were supposed to remain seated but would go all crazy whenever bubbles came out to the audience).
At the end of the show, there was some CRAZY bubble action - bubbles filling the entire tent - bubbles everywhere, with trance-like music playing and laser lights. It was... a little too psychedelic if you ask me! I think Tyler had more fun smiling at the old lady behind us and pulling the hair of the lady next to me...
Sunday we headed up to Monterey Park to see Will's grandmother/aunt/parents. Tyler was a great baby and was very well behaved at the Italian restaurant we had lunch at. Back at Will's grandmother's house, Will and I were able to get a tiny bit of down time as they played with Tyler. For those of you that haven't met Tyler - let me tell you, he is no ordinary baby! He just won't sit still - he is ALWAYS moving - it gets really exhausting...Here's Wil's mom, me, and Will's grandmother. New toys for Tyler (again...). First is his new Playzone. I bought this to replace the unsightly gray playzone we currently have, but unfortunately it's not big enough. So now its sitting in the living room while we wait for a second one to arrive so we can connect them together. Tyler seems to like it though! This toy is my favorite so far - its called an Around-we-go. Its GREAT! Tyler doesn't seem to be too motivated to move around in his walker for some reason, but this has got him on his toes! He's able to circle around his activity center and play with all the different stuff. It's great! Here's a video of Tyler going around and around!

Here's Tyler's 39 week bear picture. Check out the little shoes (they're too big though) - Tyler is not too fond of them and will kick them off almost immediately. Oh well.
Have a good week everyone!
