31 week - happy 7 months Tyler!

hey everyone! Big week this week! Lots of stuff went on (kind of). For starters, we got Tyler a new car seat! His one from before was starting to get pretty cramped - its supposedly good up to a year or 30 pounds/32 inches. Tyler's at 21 pounds/30 inches. His old one was an infant seat and it was more reclined and he couldn't see much, but his new one lets him see out the windows! I think he definitely enjoys it more since he has so much more to look at. My baby's growing up! Here's Tyler in his new car seat.
So last week was pretty tough. Tyler has been having a cold, and to make matters worse, I either caught some sort of stomach bug or ate something bad. End result? Throwing up all night and nausea/queasiness for another 2 days. Blech. Thank goodness I feel better, but I ended up not taking too many pictures in the meantime of Tyler. Aww.

Never fear though- Saturday was Tyler's 7 month birthday, so off we went to take his monthly photos! While we were there we heard another couple say that they used to take monthly photos of their first child, and now they were lucky to come in every few months for their second. That's totally going to be us! Anyway, his photos came out super cute!

This photo I took with my camera as Tyler was looking at the photographer. She actually got a picture better than this one. I didn't think it was necessary to take this whole bathtub scene, but I'm so glad she did!
These next three are photos of the computer screen when we were choosing photos. Yes, I'm ghetto. hah! Tyler looks like he got caught doing something he shouldn't be doing here.
This is by far my favorite picture of the whole session. Once the diaper came off, Tyler wouldn't stop crawling away! It was like he was on fast forward. We needed to get his knees down so you couldn't see anything, but it was tough to get him down! This photo session marked Tyler's first one where he was sitting up unassisted. very exciting. :)
Yesterday, we bought a new car! Finally! We've been talking about it for a while and had decided that we really needed a larger car (my IS300 was our BIG car). We had been researching around on prices and finally narrowed down a dealership and a price - with help from my mom too! Its the Grand Touring AWD with a bunch of packages and stuff. I actually never even considered buying a Mazda, but after checking it out and comparing it to other SUVs, it really is the best value I think. It's got this third row that you can use (or not) that is amazingly quite comfy! I can't believe I haven't taken any pictures of it yet though. Next week?

This morning was quite a morning! We woke up super early and I took Tyler over to the Discovery Science Center. My friend Julie does PR for them and the KTLA Morning News was doing a segment on their new Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit. Whoohoo- Tyler got to be on TV!! I Tivo'd it and then recorded it on my camera and then uploaded to YouTube. There were a couple short clips but this is the only one I think that you can really see Tyler and me. It was exciting. :)

Here's Tyler and myself with Clifford the Big Red Dog. I had totally forgotten how Clifford got so big - from LOVE! aha! No wonder Tyler is so big for his age. heehee.
Here's Tyler playing in Clifford's food bowl. Check out the size of those foam bones! There was actually a conveyor belt that you can churn to bring the bones up and then drop them into the bowl (one kind of hit Tyler's head - good thing they were foam!)Here's Tyler and his friend (Julie's son) Vince! They are totally friends - they even hang out in daycare! Here's another picture of Tyler and Vince. They are so much bigger than when they first met back in October. Here's a picture of Vince and Tyler at their daycare when they were out on a buggy ride. Does Tyler look like a little Buddha monk or what!
So lately Tyler has been sick. Super runny nose and congestion. His sleep is so noisy. And when he's not sleeping, he's panting like a little puppy breathing through his mouth. I wasn't too worried at first but its been so long that I thought I'd take him in to the doctor just to be safe. Here's sick Tyler (notice the snot!).
It was our first time entering the Doctor's office from the 'Sick' entrance. I was afraid to let Tyler touch anything in this room - there must have been so many germs. Evidently a lot of kids are sick - our sick room was packed and the normal larger room had like one kid in it. Here's Tyler in the sick room! He was super noisy and talking/screaming loudly. I even heard a little boy ask his mommy why that baby (Tyler) was angry. haha. Getting weighed! Another first - sitting and being weighed together! Last month he was barely just sitting up so they still had him lying down still. Thank goodness the doctor said his ears/chest sounded great. He got a followup flu shot though, and didn't even flinch! seriously! I don't know if he realized he got it. I got to hold him this time (instead of where they usually lie him down on his back) and he just sucked on his thumb and was fine. Awww. My baby really is growing up!
So I read this great idea somewhere where this woman was able to get stuff done around the house by putting her kid in a laundry basket with toys and moving the basket from room to room. Wow what a great idea I thought. ... totally didn't work. Tyler did everything he could to try to get out until I gave up and took him out. Poor Tyler didn't like being in the basket!
And lastly, Tyler loves to crawl now! He just really enjoys it or something. He's such a curious baby though, we're planning on getting those safety gates to put up to enclose him. I was hoping to find something that wasn't such an eyesore but that seems doubtful.
And our video of the week - Tyler crawling and laughing - great combination. :)

Here's Tyler's 31 week photo with his bear!

Have a good week everyone!

Tyler loves to laugh! I hope that doesn't change as he gets older! :)

Car seats sure are pricey! But I guess we can't go wrong with such a highly recommended Britax Roundabout.

With the new car, we no longer have to play Tetris with groceries or Costco purchases! Hip hip hooray! We can leave Tetris playing to Kathy on her NDS.
