happy chinese new year!
Yesterday was the Chinese New Year! It's now officially the year of the Pig/Boar - and what's more its a special year - the Red / Gold pig! Google had this on their search site yesterday and I thought it was so cute!
Friday night Will and I saw a movie - Pan's Labyrinth - it was really a great movie! Its been a long time since I've walked out of a movie and really enjoyed it - usually I'm like whatever - but this time it really made an impact! It's in Spanish with English subtitles which we had no idea, but its much better subtitled than dubbed! Although some parts of it were pretty scary (I'm VERY easily scared) and I had to hide my face behind my jacket also.
Saturday morning picked up my Grandmother and headed over to Monterey Park to meet my parents at a retirement center where my dad's college alumni association were doing some sort of Chinese New Year celebration communication service. They had singing, dancing, and my dad even played the Chinese flute! I realized how healthy Will and my grandmothers are compared to other older people. Here's a shot at the end (my dad's in the middle with the glasses and that's my grandmother and mom (in the shadow) to the right.
After lunch, Will and I headed over to his grandmother's place - also in the Monterey Park / San Gabriel area. It was fun - we played mahjong with his aunts and had hot pot for dinner. It's always nice getting altogether with his family - they are all excited about the upcoming baby! We even spent some time discussing baby boy names - no luck though! Oh well, we still have lots of time hopefully! :) Here's a group shot - from the left is Will's 2nd aunt, me, his grandmother, 3rd aunt, uncle and then his parents.
I'm 19 weeks this week! yippee! Friday is my 4 week doctors appointment with my AFP blood test screening. yikes! I hate blood tests. I'm feeling our little baby move more and more now - its very exciting! I had been feeling little bits the last couple weeks - but really faint. But this past weekend it was getting more and more prominent - pretty unmistakeable. He seems to move alot when I'm playing tetris on my DS. hehee. :) I can't help it - I am SO addicted to playing tetris - I can sit around, connect to my WiFi and play people from all over the world! Yes. I am a nerd.
