Happy New Year! Fun... (Week 286/148)

Happy New Year!  This year we have many New Year's resolutions, including eating healthier for the whole family.  Of course you can't say no to Costco Polish Sausage though.

Monday was New Year's Eve and we headed over to our friend the Garner's to celebrate.  We were a little late heading over after I had a mini meltdown to discover that Tyler was sort-of cheating on his Kumon.  He wasn't learning his subtractions correctly and was just doing one answer and then answering the rest just by using logic.  Sneaky and clever at the same time.  But boy, was I annoyed!  Anyway, we headed over in time for dinner to celebrate with the Garners and their neighbors.  The kids had a nice meal to themselves while the adults had our own table with our own yummy food.  Love that the kids are getting old enough to sit and eat by themselves without the parents hovering nearby.

Tyler and Kaden played together so nicely.  They snuck into a little tent for some bonding time.

The Garners have this huge projection screen to watch TV/movies on.  It's mesmerizing.

Of course the boys were happy watching any sort of electronic device.  Tyler didn't want to watch Cinderella on the big screen so he found something else to watch on the computer.  Kaden has a cool new Nintendo DS - totally puts my old dinky one to shame!  May have to get one of these new ones for Tyler this year.

The girls were happy watching their girly movies.

Time for the countdown!  Our plan was to celebrate with the East Coast and the kids were all ready with their bubbly apple ciders (which of course my kids didn't drink).  I forgot to bring these plastic champagne chutes I had picked up earlier the day.  Doh!

Happy New Year!

Then we had fun with some poppers!

BFFs.

This year I am going to surround myself with genuine friends and people that I actually like spending time with.  Last year had so much drama that it's time to start clean and stop wasting time with people I can't stand.  Haha!  Thank goodness for good and genuine friends!

We lined up the girls for fun.  Katelyn is 9 months younger and the same height and 5 pounds heavier than Kylee!

By the time we got home, it was almost midnight and we might as well have celebrated the New Year at the Garners, haha!  Kids needed a bath before bedtime though.  Love my little family.

New Year's Day Tuesday.  Took it easy that day and I think we mostly slept and just hung around the house.  Definitely nice just hanging out and not doing much.  For dinner we headed out of the house and ended up at BJ's.

Katelyn liked the avocado egg rolls!  You couldn't get Tyler to touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Tyler did discover one thing he loved though - pizookies!  BJ's mini sizes are the perfect amount for the whole table to share.

Mojo has been sleeping lots lately.  LOTS!  He's getting old. :(

On Friday we had a park playdate in the morning with Tyler's friends from school.  These boys have a great time together, and most of them have little sisters that play together too!  Here's Katelyn being pushed by Kendall on the swings.

Tyler and his friends Nevan and Kobi!  Nevan is almost a whole year older than Tyler (he turned 6 in September!) and Kobi is turning 6 in January.  Tyler's still got a ways to go.

Look at my pretty shoes!  These were a gift from a friend, I'm too cheap to buy fancy shoes for kids.

Quick Ikea run on Saturday to get Katelyn a big girl chair.  We're just missing the booster now.  She's getting too big to be sitting in a high chair now.  My little baby...

Saturday afternoon we headed over to Will's parents' place in Irvine for dumplings.  The kids love helping with the skins.  Tyler does a pretty good job at getting them nice and round now, and Katelyn is starting to learn too.  Group effort.  Makes the dumplings all that more yummy to eat.

"I made this one!" says Katelyn.

Big hugs to grandpa.

Sunday morning Chinese school.  Tyler was not too thrilled about going, it had been too long since had last gone.  I told him I would pick him up early since we had lunch plans, and now he asks every Sunday that I pick him up early.  I try to find out what he learned that day, and his usual answer is, "uh.. I forgot".  3 hours really, nothing?

Lunch was at Shik do Rak with Auntie Trina.  Omg was Tyler excited.  I didn't tell him who we were going to lunch with until I picked him up from Chinese school.  I asked him who he wanted to have lunch with and, no joke, the first words out of his mouth were 'Auntie Trina'!  When I nodded yes he started jumping up and down- he was so happy and excited!

My little Katelyn and Mariam!  The kids love these gals!
