Whew, another week has flown by. Maybe not flown so much since Tyler just finished his second week of Fall break. One more week left! I've been really enjoying having this time with Tyler, but the combination of both of them together sure leaves me frustrated sometimes. Why can't they just always get along? I guess it's normal for siblings to argue but my patience is WAY thin these days when I start hearing their whining and telling on each other. Bah!
Monday started out with Katelyn's Tippie Toes dance class again. She's much more easily distracted with Tyler sitting in the back of the room. I suppose it's not too realistic to expect him to sit there quietly and do his Kumon. At least she did participate somewhat!
She loved the parachute portion of the class.
Here's a short video of Katelyn in her dance class. She's so cute!
After dance class, we met up with my friend Amy and her daughters for lunch at Mitsua's food court. Yummy ramen! Then we had dessert at Mochilato. Kids love their different sorbet flavors there.
Tyler's really coming along in taekwondo. It's quite time consuming but it's nice to watch him having fun and learning new forms. He's a green belt now, and I wonder how long we'll keep him in this sport. I want him to start basketball and he's been asking to start tennis again as well. There just isn't enough time in the day!
Tuesday was Tyler's swim class. We've switched to one class a week and had to miss a bit with Disneyland trips. Very excited with this class though, he started in the big pool! Tyler was a little hesitant in the beginning and wanted to stay in the smaller pool, which he was used to, but he braved up and had a great time in the big pool. Yay Tyler!
After swim, we met up with my friend Lisa and her boys as well as her niece/nephews for a movie! We watched Hotel Transylvania. It was a cute movie and Tyler sat through the whole thing without chickening out!
Wednesday. Big day for me - I took both kids to Disneyland by myself! First time for me, I'm always a little weary about big events without Will, but I can do it! Plus we were meeting up with a couple other moms and their kids. Having other kids to play with always makes a big difference in the behavior of the kids. The kids were very excited! Here they are on the tram.
Katelyn wore her little Minnie Mouse ears - so cute! She was very intent on figuring out the rides we were going to go on that day.
We started with Nemo. Tyler wouldn't sit on the seat next to the larger woman next to us. I wanted to chastise him in Chinese but realized it would be pointless because he wouldn't understand what I was saying anyway. Doh. Must improve his Chinese even if just for that! haha!
After that we met up some fairies at Pixie Hollow. Katelyn was fine until it was our turn and then she got scared. Weird, I don't remember the last time she was scared of characters. When Periwinkle started talking to her, she warmed up quick.
Here's a short video of Katelyn chatting with Periwinkle.
Smile!
Always need to get a nice hug!
Then we met Tinkerbell! I love that these princesses/fairies engage the children so much more than the characters that aren't allowed to talk. It makes waiting in line so much more worth it!
I had to really persuade Tyler to get a photo in. He's too cool apparently for fairies...
We met up with our friends just as they were about to get on the Peter Pan ride. I've always been weary about the Fantasyland rides since they tend to be dark and kind of scary for the kids. Can't remember the last time I went on Peter Pan, definitely Katelyn's first time! We were able to cut in line (yay!) and turns out the ride wasn't dark and scary at all! Helps that the kids really like watching Disney's "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" cartoon.
Next up - Dumbo! While we were in line, Katelyn announced that she had to potty. Doh! I left Tyler with another mom and her daughter to go on the ride and took Katelyn. Didn't expect to be back in time to get on the ride. Surprisingly though, we were! It was a little annoying trying to get back to meet up with our friends in line but I ended up just climbing over the fence. Apparently Tyler was starting to get worried that I wasn't there, good thing we got back in time!
They're all smiles here but I had to mediate for them in deciding who gets to control the ride. They ended up taking turns.
Here's a video of the kids on the Dumbo ride! Not too bad of a wait!
Next - teacups!
Lines are definitely much shorter than weekends, but boy was it getting hot.
Here's a little video of the kids on the teacup. Katelyn didn't want to go fast at all.
Tyler wanted to try to pull the sword out of the stone. I don't think he knows the story behind it, so he didn't understand why he couldn't get it out.
Katelyn decided to help out too!
Check out the concentration on Katelyn's face!
After this we had lunch in New Orleans (turkey leg!) and the kids danced to the New Orleans band and got some very coveted beads. We went on Pirates next.
And then up Tarzan's treehouse. I had to carry Katelyn up the whole way - exhausting and hot - but at least I got my strength training in for the day? :)
We all headed over to ride It's a Small World. Boy, that line was LONG for some reason. On the walk there, Katelyn totally knocked out in the stroller. She was tired! My friends took their daughters to meet princesses. I had planned to wake Katelyn up when they got to the front of the line, but she was SO asleep that she barely stirred when I took her out of the stroller. Hmm. Decided it was better to just let her sleep and meet the princesses. Then they went on It's a Small World and we waited in the shade to let her sleep more. At 2, Katelyn REALLY needs her naps or she can become quite a terror. I learned a while back not to mess with her naps!
She's sleeping with her eyes not even all the way shut!
Tyler didn't mind missing the princesses and It's a Small World. He was just happy to get his own churro. He didn't like sharing it with me at all. Hoarder. Katelyn woke up after an hour and I was worried she'd be in a grumpy mood. But she was fine! - she yelled out "Small World!!" since it was the first thing she saw. We tried to wait in line but gave up since it was so long. I told her we'd do the Ariel ride and that totally appeased her.
Mickey Mouse pumpkin before leaving Disneyland and heading to CA Adventure!
Over on the CA Adventure side, we rode on the Little Mermaid ride. Love that ride since it's air conditioned and the line moves so fast. My friends continued on with some more rides but we decided to call it a day - the heat was really getting to me and I needed some quiet time before we had dinner!
By the time we got on the tram, Tyler was falling asleep. Off the tram, I put him in Katelyn's stroller and he kept on sleeping. Katelyn didn't mind riding on the roller board. After some quiet time at home and waiting for Will to come home from work, we headed to Tokyo Table to meet our friends for dinner. Whew, what a day!
Thursday Tyler had soccer practice and then we went out to dinner with his friend Luke and his mom and little brother. The kids always have a good time with friends at dinner.
Friday! We had a playdate with one of Tyler's Kindergarten friends Kobi. We went to a local park in Stonegate and it was a lot of fun - very kid friendly.
For dinner, we took the kids to Sushilicious and they tried out using chopsticks. :)
Then off to Costume Express to try to find Tyler a Thor costume with muscles. Super overpriced but I felt better with my 20% off coupon. Tyler was obsessed with the Clone Trooper mask they had. It was a cheap plastic mask that he was able to convince us to buy.
Heehee, I put this pink cowboy hat on Katelyn and said "yeehawww!" and pretended to have a lasso in her hand. Heehee.
Can't be in a Halloween store without trying silly hats on!
Back home, the kids really put their Clone Trooper masks to work. Haha!
Saturday - soccer game! Thank goodness it wasn't too hot that day. The kids were pumped and ready to go!
Ready for the game! Tyler was really on fire that day, attacking the ball and really going for it. He even scored his FIRST GOAL!! YAYYYYYYYYY! It was very exciting. :)
Here's the coach excitedly congratulating Tyler about his goal. He doesn't look too thrilled. I dunno why, weird!
Water break!
Katelyn was happy hanging out in our little tent eating grapes and playing on the iPad.
Good game everyone!
On Sunday, after a shortened Chinese School class, we met up with some of Tyler's old ICDC friends at a park in Foothill Ranch. Tyler and Katelyn were very excited to see his friends.
I love these boys together. They play really well together, all July birthdays too.
They had a great time playing on the tennis court there too. Apparently Katelyn liked hoarding the tennis balls!
Scooter fun for the kids.
Speed racer!
Fun week. Hopefully this week will be a little slower and relaxing. I've been so frustrated lately with some things going on and hopefully this week I can just shake it off and stop being annoyed about it!
